Slashdotted?
already slashdotted.
Maybe this will work.
But really, the programs suggested have reasonable alternates that I know of (minus autoCAD, since I haven't used that since college).
Photoshop -- gimp
itunes -- there are multiple, but i'm still content with xmms
flash -- HTML web pages. i'm not the only one browsing with flashblock on, for good reason
dreamweaver -- vi & emacs -- nuf said -

In a world...
In a post-apocalyptic world where websites mysteriously drop from existance, server hardware is reduced to mere slag and ISP lawyers roam the shattered earth a hero shall rise.

They say that a magnetic insulator would have to be used to shield the chip from external interference.
Cowburn, who is working with MRAM makers on developing the technology, suggests a common magnetic shielding material may have to be built into such chips. Called mu-metal, it is an alloy of nickel, iron, copper and molybdenum. "It's effectively a Faraday Cage for magnetic devices," he explains. -

Re:The concept is very cool, and very cute
It really depends on how "scriptable" it is.
I'd like it if it were smart enough to be able to...
- Close any applications not on a list.
- Start applications specified on a list.
- Open specific files in these applications.
It's be nice to be able to switch between different desktop configurations with this.
Another nice idea might be for a family PC with 3 accounts; click the persons' face to switch to his/her account.
But in all honesty, I can't think of any killer application, nor does the demonstration site (coral cache: http://artlebedev.com.nyud.net:8090/portfolio/opti mus-mini/) show any.
p.s. You've got to admire the humor of the demo site; just look at which companies stocks are shown in the market quotes example and what the advise is. Or how the casino example is randomized. -

Heat engines and the conservation of mass
What you overlook is that human beings are animals, and hence complex biochemical factories, not simple heat engines.
You're partially right. But eating is not the only way to control your weight.
Maybe you think it is fine for one person to eat 2900 calories a day, do little exercise, and stay thin; while another person eats 2000 calories, walks six miles and gains weight.
Well, I don't think that's fine. In fact, that's PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
Here's an essay about gluttony and the conservation of mass.
By eating you accumulate carbon in your body. But there's no way to get the carbon out except in the form of CO2 (by breathing). Exercises which make you breath at an accelerated rate, will make you lose the carbon out of your body. As simple as that.
Some people do not exercise in the right way, they try to make exercise, but the least exercise possible. Unless the carbon they release daily with exercise is more than the carbon they eat daily, they will still get fat.
In other words, the cause of obesity is not quite eating too much, but exercising too little. -
Re:Is it just a .Net book?
For you people looking for Mono-specific stuff, accu.org seems to "highly recommend": Mono - a Developer's Handbook by Edd Dumbill & Neil Borstein http://www.accu.org.nyud.net:8090/bookreviews/pub

Re:Can't Hear You
Maybe science didn't tell the other guy that, but it certainly suggested it. This paper goes into great length discussing the causes of the earth's warming, and the effects. It certainly doesn't seem to me that the causes have much to do with us, nor that the effects will be too devistating.

For Non-US users : workaround
Someone suggested to use the coral cache : Link here. As the coral cache is multi-homed, you can be dns-round-robin-ed to a non-US mirror and thus be showed the Non-US notice. Just flush your DNS cache with : "ipconfig
/flushdns"; for linux, restart your dns daemon. Try again a few times and it should work.
