Re:Related news: Reporters w/o Borders join critic
Reporters w/o Borders is a blatant propaganda front for the US Government. Proof & References: "Reporters Without Borders Unmasked"
"Reporters Without Borders seems to have a geopolitical agenda"
"Source Watch: Reporters Without Borders"
Reporters w/o Borders are also trying to trap potential leakers and activist bloggers in their thin veil: https://encrypted.google.com/search?num=100&q=Reporters+Without+Borders+shelter

Re:US abuse
Here you go: Beijing suspects false flag attack on South Korean corvette
Some snippets:
However, Baengnyeong Island hosts a joint US-South Korea military intelligence base and the US Navy SEALS operate out of the base. In addition, four U.S. Navy ships were in the area, part of the joint U.S-South Korean Exercise Foal Eagle, during the sinking of the Cheonan. An investigation of the suspect torpedo's metallic and chemical fingerprints show it to be of German manufacture. There are suspicions that the US Navy SEALS maintains a sampling of European torpedoes for sake of plausible deniability for false flag attacks. Also, Berlin does not sell torpedoes to North Korea, however, Germany does maintain a close joint submarine and submarine weapons development program with Israel.
The presence of the USNS Salvor, one of the participants in Foal Eagle, so close to Baengnyeong Island during the sinking of the South Korean corvette also raises questions.

It's a backward culture, fools led by hucksters.
That can pretty much be applied to followers of almost all religions. Here in the US we have a number of Christian Talibans, Reconstructionists, and those who believe in Manifest Destiny who like some Muslims believe in stoning.

Re:Hackers or government?
Thanks for the detailed response. I would love to show you the photos I took from a trip to Tibet last year. I don't think the US government ever built mansions for the Indians. You have to see all the colorful mansions dotted in the valleys throughout Tibet built by varies Provincial Governments of various provinces for the Tibetans as part of the campaign to help Tibetans. Other ethnic Chinese are not eligible. Here are some links regarding Tibetan history: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7355 http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_3173.shtml

Hm. So people are easily influenced by TV.Nobody was talking about McCain a month ago. Why has this changed? Has the constant Fox bashing of Obama actually begun to affect people? Has the media free pass on McCain's total illiteracy about the most basic facts of the Middle East. (re: his mistaking several times Sunni and Shiite, Iran and Al Qaeda). The man is a menace. Bill Maher put it well.
I find it astonishing that this McCain guy is even being talked about. Is everybody really so easily led by the nose?
That is, of course, a rhetorical question. American politics is like watching a bloody car accident in slow motion.
Not that any of it really matters. --With the totally ignored cries that the call girl agency which did Spitzer in was long known by U.S. Intelligence to be a Mossad front, and that he was fed to the lions to get a wall-street watchdog like Spitzer out of the way before the shenanigans with the Fed and JP Morgan and Bear Stearns which broke a week later, shows again that if you are clean, you aren't allowed to come to power of any sort. They must have some impressive dirt on Obama, (either that, or they'll just shoot him if Fox fails to do its job.) The Clintons are dirty as hell. But McCain? COME ON PEOPLE! That's just sick.

Re:Worthless store
.... ok, off topic, but: Driving down prices with products imported from China is not a good thing. Putting people out of business who are just barley earning a living is not a good thing. Shutting down an entire store just because they voted for a union is not a good thing.
Spoken like a true "Pro-Wallmart" placement! -
Re:The only reason I'm not scared..
Controls the funding?
What kind of black budget can you run on $12 Billion?
Or the $3 TRILLION, that went "missing" earlier on Rumsfeld's watch?
No. Nobody makes a "mistake" or has an "accident" in "misplacing" billions or trillions. This is being used against the American people by their supposed agencies, like a gun to the head.
As for Congress - all the Senators are Caesar's horse. -
Florida isn't the only one
Voting in some VA districts is screwy too...

"What is being called a "glitch" by Hart InterCivic spokespersons, three cities in Virginia -- Alexandria (poster's note: population 7,078,515 in 2000), Falls Church (pop. 10,377 in 2000) and Charlottesville (pop. 45,049 in 2000)-- will not properly display (Democrat) Jim Webb's name on the November ballot summary screen. Voters will only see 'James H. "Jim"' on the ballot, instead of 'James H. "Jim" Webb'.
To make matters worse, the candidates will have "their party affiliations . . . cut off" even after navigating through the summary screen nearly blind. To put some perspective and clarity to this, in Alexandria, Falls Church and Charlottesville, Virginia, voters will not be able to recognize Jim Webb by his full name OR by his party's affiliation!" -

Life imitating art or vice versa?
For a (slight) glimpse at the stakes of a game like this, consider the recent Robin Williams film "Man of the Year". The movie was okay, but the truly frightening thing was how likely a scandal like a rigged election, purposefully or otherwise, might take place. However, before I go into some facts I found through surfing about Diebold and electronic voting, I wanted to point out that even if it was demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bush was elected through vote fraud of some kind (not that many of us need any further convincing), it doesn't mean Kerry automatically gets to take the White House and Bush is out. What would most likely happen, along with a series of investigations and lawsuits, is the Supreme Court court would invalidate the election results and declare a new election, at a reasonable time period. Dennis Hastert would assume the throne until the new election results were confirmed but nothing Bush has done would be invalidated, at least, not right away. Even if he was fraudulently elected, he was still the de-facto sitting President and so his actions would be legal (in a manner of speaking). Congress could take some action to reverse some of his doings, but that assumes they want to in the first place. Now, on to Diebold. Found via a Google of "Diebold facts": 1. 80% of all votes in America are counted by only two companies: Diebold and ES&S. http://www.onlinejournal.com/evoting/042804Landes/ 042804landes.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diebold 2. Neocons Hate the Internet
Norm Coleman is running cover for US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton. This neocon crew has so alienated our allies (driving them into the arms of our enemies) that we actually face the prospect of leaving control of the Internet to many incompetents (and worse, tyrants) rather than the reliable US control. We need real diplomats to work this out. Instead we've got John "Detonate the UN" Bolton and Norm "Bomb Osama in Iraq" Coleman. We need to get rid of these renegade Americans turning us into a rogue nation that can't be trusted by international partners. Minnesotans, you've got to wait until 2008 to replace Coleman, and Bolton's antidemocratic recess appointment to the UN expires in 2007. So we're stuck with these foxes in the henhouse until after this UN/Internet risk is averted. Somehow. I hope.

Norm Coleman?
Norm Coleman? Is that the same Norm Coleman that got bitch-slapped by George Galloway?

Re:Gut check
What I was alluding to in another post is absolutely true. There is nothing unconstitutional about this law, it is completely permitted under the powers granted to Congress in the Constitution. It is absolutely legal that the government do this.
Well, not extactly. The Fourth Amendment does apply. But it appears the Wire & Eletronic Communications Act and the Stored Communication Act provide the guidelines to what is "reasonable".The following articles dicuss some related US Court rulings This article dicusses random monitoring by ISPs.
AbstractThis article takes the position that the Wiretap Act and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) does little to provide protection against internet service providers (ISPs) that randomly monitor e-mails for the purpose of turning over evidence of criminal activities to law enforcement officials. The article provides a background to the special privacy issues that arise in the context of computer technology and ISPs. An analysis of the Wiretap Act, as amended by the ECPA, reveals that an implicit statutory prohibition against random surveillance by ISPs for the purpose of assisting law enforcement does in fact exist. Further, remedies for violations of this provision are deficient because of many exceptions, and because criminal sanctions and the exclusionary rule are not included. Recent court decisions are analyzed which collectively suggest that the Fourth Amendment does not protect against evidence obtained from ISP surveillance. Finally, the article concludes by providing suggestions as to how the public's privacy interests against random ISP monitoring can and should be protected.
And a more recent articleIn Councilman v. United States, the court considered precisely when the Wiretap Act forbids the interception of e-mail. The statute and prior judicial decisions made clear that electronic communications -- unlike wire communications such as telephone calls -- were not protected once the communication was complete and the message was in storage.
Of course IANAL. So my reading could be completely off-base. ... Councilman told the court to go further, ignoring whether a message was still in transit and asking only if it was obtained from computer memory or a hard drive.Twice, the Americans have voted into office GW Bush, and such can only be interpreted as support for his policies. That he won by a significant margin in 2004 is proof that the majority of Americans believe in what he is selling.
The phrase "Democracy just means you get the government you deserve" might be more fitting than "a majority believe what he's selling"
When you get a chance give the following Greg Palast article a read: Florida's flawed "voter-cleansing" program
Additional articles related to questionable activities related to the 2000 & 2004 elections can be found at: Greg Palast columns
Also interesting is an article at Online Journal about Black Box Voting's finding of questionable code used in Diebold's optical scan voting machines.
-
And the optical scan machines aren't much better
Our friends at BlackBoxVoting.org have uncovered some serious flaws with Diebold's optical scan machines, too.
"This is really the most important thing," Harris said. "Yes we can hack the poll tapes [and the central tabulator]. But what we've learned is there is a 'built-in' [on the individual machines] that provides the mechanism to hack any election on the poll tapes in the Diebold Optical Scan System."
"It is something that should be looked at in a congressional Investigation," Harris said.
"It's probably not an accident," Harris said, "because you can look back through the source code to see that [Diebold] went through some programming contortions to keep this thing there. It had to have been expensive for them, frankly."
"When we saw the way they designed it [the 'built-in']," Harris explained, "Harri [Hursti, computer expert] said, 'We have the Holy Grail.' The elections people are very concerned."
Hursti is said to have confirmed that the built-in hacking program 'lived' in the memory card of the "ballot box" on individual election machines, according to Harris. "What this means is that the program operates on the votes. You can change what's on there; it's just a disk," Harris said.
"So when the optical scan machine asks it to count the votes, instead of using its own program to count the vote, it asks the ballot box how it should count, and that is what's so bizarre," Harris explained.

speaking of wiretapping
Anyone interested in wiretapping should see this. Shrub's miserable choice for UN Ambassador, John Bolton stars in this story.
From the story "Bolton requested transcripts of 10 NSA intercepts of conversations between named U.S. government officials and foreign persons...NSA insiders report...Bolton...had them masked as "training missions" in order to get around internal NSA regulations that...prohibit such eavesdropping on U.S. citizens.
So, not only do you have to worry about the court authorized and reported taps, but Corrupt Criminals like Bolton skirting the rules to get dirt on his (probable) opponents.
Thank God the NSA is there to protect Freedom(TM)? Right? -
What I find interesting. . .Is that so many highly engaging games should be released right now. --Why downloading whole television series is suddenly in vogue. Movies don't do enough to distract. A film has its propagandic power, but when you need to kill hours of awareness time, nothing beats a personal television screen with personalized content!
Kinda makes me wonder what's going on which is so important that the PTB can't afford for anybody to have any spare energy or awareness to spend looking around scratching their heads. . .
Then again, those who don't play the games or watch TV could probably explain it. . .
What with the fraudulent election quietly unravels as those who rigged the thing are beginning to murmur in discontent about not having been paid for their efforts. --And the Ohio recount officials complaining of mysterious voting machine employees arriving unannounced and to pull and replace pieces of machines. Esteemed muck-raker reporter Gary Webb, (who played a big part in opening up the Iran Contra scandal), dying of "suicide" two weeks ago by, count 'em, two gun shots to the head, (or was that shotgun damage?).
And meanwhile the Punch & Judy bullshit parade starts again with more idiot political drama about Russia selling nuke technology to Iran.
I wonder what would actually happen if everybody stopped staring at their CRT's for five minutes if they might actually be able to get off the cattle track leading to the slaughter house?

More Information
I read this story here and my brother (somewhat computer illiterate) begged me to submit it but I thought against it because of all of the political overtones. For those that are interested in more details, including some possible conspiracy theories, you should read it. It discusses where the financing came from and links it directly back to the Bush family. It further alledges that President Bush's money trail has been exposed by the CIA in retaliation for his recent house cleaning there. It also mentions several elections that were adjusted during the testing phase of the illicit program.
-
The whole story reads like a spy novel
Nicely written up here.
Like all good conspiracy stories it will be almost impossible to prove. It's the magic bullet all over again. I expect this to become American lore just like JFK's assassination conspiracies.
It is astounding to me that this country always manages to produce stuff like this. In my unscientific way it only leaves me to conclude that America is nuts - one way or another. -

Opinion Journal investigation on sameStory here. Talks about this case as well as other vote fraud cases in Florida in 2000 and 2004, how the governor shut down investigations, and the entire criminal web of Republican political bosses.
Screw the bastards. Line em up and shoot em dead. America deserves better than these facsists. Anyone who partakes in this is an enemy of the people and the country and should be taken out. They're usurping our very democracy, and the apologists and propagandists can similarly line up against a wall.

Taco, Get Yourself Checked
An expert recently sent a half-jest letter to the editor of a journal suggesting that Bushisms were an indicator of early-onset senility. Probably just too many youthful indiscretions but you never know.
As for the flaring error in this story's title, you heard it here first. Taco's seemingly-trollish typos are in fact an early sign of his early mental demise. -
This scares the shit out of me.Who is Diebold?
Lets see who they are?
I did a search on google and found some scary stuff.
All 3 vendors only contribute to the republican party! Did you know one of Dick Cheney's friends from Halliburton is actually in charge of the voting machine division!
Link here and here.
What if lets say theoritically speaking of course the CEO of Diebold wanted a nice big pay check. He could go to Bush and give him 4 more years for a nice big paycheck from the RNC.
We need audits. .This is crazy and no company should be given that much power. -
Re:The scariest part about Balkanization.
The 'Open' Internet was never unbiased or ucensored. It sure seemed that way, until you remember that a handful of sysadmins controlled which groups got created on usenet and which groups were censored. Those with more networking hardware got to make more of the decisions because more of the traffic passed through their equipment. You blocked 'alt.borkborkbork' in one key place and it got blocked to a great deal of the people who could keep it alive today.
'Unbiased' will never enter into the equation. Sorry.
'Uncensored', however, describes the vast number of people who can and do use the Internet and any other communication outlet they can in a myriad of ways to spread their own ideologies, their own software, their own news coverage, and their own gossip. As soon as one avenue for this kind of information is blocked, another springs up.
As soon as Napster was shut down, Kazaa and Gnutella became more popular. With Kazaa and Gnutella's decline in popularity due to the rabid, power-mongering influence of copyright interests (RIAA Lawsuits), other, more immune file sharing apps are gaining acceptance.
Think of the net as a huge, self-regenerating organism. Its cells are not computers, but people who want to spread information via whatever method possible.
At first it's simple and dedicated solely to its own task. As it's attacked and parisited, it begins to develop defenses and immunities to those attacks. Unlike natural selection, which required brute-force trial and error combinations to build those defenses, the Internet has thinking logical minds building its defenses, which include spam filters, intelligent routing, firewall, mail, and other message protocols, data encryption, steganography, high-bandwidth transmission pipes, error correction, and other tools to control the 'background radiation'.
I, for one, use data encryption in almost every kind of computer-to-computer file transmission I make, just out of habit. Do you?
If you don't beleive that the net is building its own defenses, note the truly desperate measures the aforementioned copyright interests are going to now in order to try to stop the evolutionary tide. The RIAA knows it can't keep up technologically with the HUGE number of people people sharing files, so it's attempting to change they way they behave with organized legislation and 'public education' drives.
The Internet, the people who write software and share data of any kind, is disorganized and seems unable to act in response fast enough. The million monkeys on a million typewriters eventually spouts software like Freenet. Freenet, while hard to use when compared to Kazaa or Napster, is almost completely immune from RIAA, MPAA, or publishing industry attacks, and may even be immune from the best efforts of law enforcement and repressive governments.
Just today, the RIAA leaked that it can track files by their MD5 sums. How long will it be (later this evening) before someone writes code that will pad MP3s in a way that skews their MD5 sums but leaves the music listenable? How long will it be before that code or something very much like it makes its way into WASTE or Gnutella? Even if this code is made illegal and the writer/perpetrator goes to jail, how will the media industry stop it when it's already in the hands of the public?
We're not just developing technological defenses either, but mental and social defenses. The EFF makes it possible for anyone to fax their senator and other legislators for free. (http://action.eff.org/) Various internet websites publish details about public figures and public officials, especially those with the clout to make change.
Remember who originally reported on Monica Lewinsky? Matt Drudge. Who all will report on the fact that George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld more or less set up undercover CIA agents to take the fall for the Iraq-Nigeria scandal?
The Internet is under attack, but without attack, it will never become stronger and immune to those attacks. -

But of course, in the US, that is perfectly legal!.

The People's Investigation of 9/11
We declare a national emergency in uncovering what really happened on 9/11/2001 through an immediate call for an independent collaborative investigation worldwide. The U.S. government could help us but instead is doing everything it can to stop any investigations into 9/11.
The People's Investigation of 9/11 is an assemblage of international researchers and activists. Task-based functional groups work together on various projects, including research topics and volunteer efforts, in unison with other 9/11 evidence-finding efforts. Until a legitimate independent citizen's committee is funded and recognized by the U.S. government or a world political body or court, it is left up to the citizens of the world to investigate and share what they know with others.
What we know
"There was plenty of time to shoot down several of the planes, particularly the one we all knew was heading toward the Pentagon, which had enough time to fly 270 degrees around the Pentago and then hitting it where the least number of employees were working. Interviews with pilots in the air during the attacks indicate they were asked to land or simply verify the Pentagon was hit."
Scarificing Lives for a pretext
In his book, The Grand Chess Board, the former secretary of state laid out a plan detailing what the U.S. should do in order to establish and maintain global hegemony. He suggested that control over Central Asia was absolutely necessary. One of the major obstacles to the achievement of this plan, he noted, was the problem of securing domestic support for military presence and action abroad. In light of the horrific attacks on 9/11 his words carry additional significance.
"The attitude of the American public toward the external projection of American power has been much more ambivalent. The public supported America's engagement in World War II largely because of the shock effect of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor."
"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multi-cultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."
"It is also a fact that America is too democratic at home to be autocratic abroad. This limits the use of America's power, especially its capacity for military intimidation. Never before has a populist democracy attained international supremacy. But the pursuit of power is not a goal that commands popular passion, except in conditions of a sudden threat or challenge to the public's sense of domestic well-being. The economic self-denial (that is, defense spending) and the human sacrifice (casualties, even among professional soldiers) required in the effort are uncongenial to democratic instincts. Democracy is inimical to imperial mobilization."
Zbigniew Brzezinski, former national security advisor, in "THE GRAND CHESSBOARD - American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives," Basic Books, 1997.
In a January 13, 2002 Washington Post op-ed piece, Henry Kissinger argued for a quick commencement to the proposed war against Iraq - while people still remember 9-11, he said. A military operation against Iraq must begin with haste - "while the memory of the attack on the United States is still vivid and American-deployed forces are available to back up the diplomacy."
