Internet Technology and ChinaHopefully, these Japanese companies have taken into consideration the threat that China poses to the world and have taken the necessary steps to safeguard this new Internet technology. It could be handy in the event of a war initiated by the Chinese. For example, suppose that the Chinese sabotage the fiber-optic cables in Japan. The Japanese could then send their data traffic across the power lines.
The Internet was originally intended to be a communications network that the American Department of Defense (DOD) would use in the event that the Russians destroyed a significant part of the military communications network. I suspect that the DOD will find this new Japanese technology to be quite interesting.
Fortunately, the Japanese developed the technology before the Chinese. So, the Western world is safe -- for now.

China: Space Threat to USAAlthough the latest effort to circumnagivate the globe by a single one-manned spacecraft is an interesting technological pursuit, it has enormous implications for national security. Mr. Rutan should ensure that all his crew and engineers are vetted and that there are no Chinese nationals or former Chinese nationals (including those from Taiwan province and Hong Kong) on his staff. Beijing would surely use this space technology to accelerate the Chinese program weaponizing space. Note that the entire space program in China is part of the Department of War.
By contrast, NASA in the USA is an entirely civilian effort.

Learning is More Than MathematicsWhen you see international assessments of learning across various countries, you soon discover that Chinese students outperform American students in areas like mathematics and science. Yet, learning is more than mathematics. The typical graduate from an American high school is more likely to condemn human-rights abuses. The typical graduate from a Chinese high school (including those from Taiwan province and Hong Kong) is more likely to ignore, or even to advocate, gross human-rights abuses.
Even though the density of Ph.D.'s in Taiwan is much high than the density in the USA, why is the USA a much better place in which to live than Taiwan?

China & Robot TechnologyWe must safeguard robotic technology from China. The Chinese would surely use such technology to build an army of robots that would expand the reach of Chinese military power.
Although academic freedom is vital at universities like MIT and Cornell, we must also consider the implications for national security. Do we want a situation in which our national security is damaged for the sake of allowing a couple of Chinese spies disguised as Chinese students to work on robotic technology at MIT and Cornell?

Simulation Technology & China
We must safeguard this aircraft simulation technology from China. Beijing would surely use it to improve the training of the pilots who fly the jet fighters and bombers in the Chinese Air Force. It is the same airforce that bombed more than 100,000 Tibetans to their deaths in 1951.

Must Keep Technology Secret: ChinaWe must keep this technology as secret as possible. It has immediate application in building the guidance system of satellites and ballastic missiles and would enable the Chinese to build an entirely new generation of super-reliable circuits.
A key problem that this laser technology solves is the electromigration of electrons in regular wires. We can now replace the metallic wires with optical guides.
-
High Security Computing & China
I hope that the conclusions of this conference in Europe are not published for the entire world to see. High security computing is vital to the West, for that type of computing dominates in Western militaries. We definitely would not want to see China (which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong) accessing such technology.
-
Critical Technology & China
Embedded operating systems (OSes) appear in many military systems: e.g. nuclear missiles. We should ensure that such technology does not "accidentally" leak to China. The Chinese would certainly use the technology of our very best embedded OSes to improve their military systems.

Broader Implication: Taking the Profit OutThis decision by the US Patento Trade Office (USPTO) was a difficult one, but it was the right one. By refusing to patent humanoid life (i.e. life which is not 100% human but is close), the USPTO has taken the profit motive out of these ghoulish experiments. The rest is up to our conscience.
Not so in places like China, which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong. Debates about cloning and chimeras never arose in China because most people just do not care. The first sentient humanoid creature will come out of China, and it will be used as a slave, an organ source, or target practice for Chinese soldiers fine turning their marksmenship skills, which will eventually be used to put a bullet into the heads of Tibetan children.
China has no conscience.
Look at the tortuous debates in this country, the USA, over cloning. Even Japan had debates. No debates existed in China. The Chinese just do not care.

China and Octopus Robot Technology
I feel that any robotic technology derived from studying octopus limbs should be kept secret. Would you want the Chinese to access such technology and to build a robotic soldier that could engage in warfare against, not only Tibet, but also the USA? The possibility is disturbing.

Re:Just be glad they aren't white.
See, this is stupidthink. I cannot call it liberal, as it is giving liberalism a bad name. Bombs fell, bombs are targeted so to mimimize casualties as much as possible in a war zone.
Off course all this anti-war talk (I'm not so much anti-war, as against being lied to) seems to center on a false ideal. That the Iraqi's really were better off under Sadam. I mean save all this "We are really horrible stuff". We don't you know, gas people.
Before you even say anything, yes we supported them. The alternative was what exactly? Support the leadership that took Americans hostage, and constantly threatened it's neighbors? I'm not proud of our past on the Middle East, but doesn't give us an even greater moral perogative to right the wrongs we did? -
Not Funny: Fake Components ChinaThe Chinese are notorious for producing fake products and fake parts. They have found their way into aircraft, automobiles, and,
... yes ... personal computers (PCs). These fake parts usually fail quickly and suddenly, often leading to a hazardous situation. Imagine a landing gear (on an aircraft) suddenly collapsing. The lesson here is that, in order to avoid "killing" your PC, you must verify that all parts are the very best. Avoid the "Made in China" label. In made cases, it is a death sentence. Failing brakes on a car, anyone?

Re:Meltdown proof? Hah!
Unfortunately we seem to be missing the China troll.
So here goes...
Do we really want to trust a totalitarian dictatorship such as China with such deadly technology. They have already demonstrated their untrustworthiness with despicable acts of torture. And Taiwan isn't much better because they are evil China sympathisers.

James Gosling and Hypocrisy
When James Gosling talks, nobody listens. He is one of the people who advocated keeping Java within Sun in order to prevent Java from being a public standard.

China and SpammingStatistics show that China is the source of the bulk of spams. That spammers are now using the mail servers of ISPs is excellent news. ISPs can now track down the IP address and, ultimately, the physical location of the spammers. In this way, we know which IP addresses to block.
Score +1 for the rebel force. Score -1 for the Chinese empire.

China and Space MilitarizationThe Pentagon should protect (i.e. hide) technologies related to space because the Chinese would use them to accelerate their militarization of space. The space program in China is part of the Department of War. In the West, NASA is an entirely civilian effort, and so is NASDA in Japan.
Note that even though China is still relatively poor, the Chinese continue to spend billions of dollars on space militarization. Ditto goes for the nuclear weapons program. Note that Japan, at the same stage of economic development, spent nothing on nuclear weapons and very little on space EXPLORATION.

How is Netscape relevant? How is Gecko-based Netscape relevent? Mozilla should concentrate on only 2 browers: FireFox and K-meleon. The former is for power users. The latter is for 3rd worlders (in Thailand) and graduate students, who cannot afford powerful computers.
What is the market for Netscape?

China & EncryptionThe intent of the Army field manual is to assist in encryption in the event that the enemy is careless and uses a weak encryption technique. I think that the manual is useful for our men and women in uniform.
The problem that I have is the fact that this manual appears to be publicly available. Do you like the idea of some Chinese downloading this manual and using it as a how-to primer for decrypting American military communications?
Which moron runs the Defense Department?

Brazilian BudgetLook at this link. At least, the Brazilians have not engaged in the kind of wasteful space program in which the Chinese are engaged. The Brazilian government actually chopped the budget for space exploration.
Further, when the Brazilian government and Brazilian businesses spend money on licensing fees, they are actually spending money on things toward building an economy that provides jobs. Paying licensing fees is an integral part of a capitalistic economy.
How does space militarization, which the Chinese have been doing, achieve prosperity?

China and the Undoing of the WestWatch out. Do not distribute information like this RFID key cracking technology.
The Chinese in both mainland China and especially Taiwan will now create a black market for illicit devices that will crack the RFID key for any person's car or speedpass. Sometimes, in order to protect our beloved Western society, we must be a bit secretive.

China & Military Applications of RFID RobotsCreating a robot to replace a guide dog has enormous military applications that Beijing would find useful . We best keep the technology "top secret".
Imagine Beijing using its cheap labor force to create an army of mechanical robots with the mental capability of a guide dog. A mutt is not that smart , but a dog does not need much intelligence to hunt down a soldier and to kill him. Doberman Pinscher, any one?

Not Funny: ZBox and Chinese Nuclear WeaponsPerhaps, the Western developers of the ZBox should not publish their invention -- for the sake of Western security. The Chinese would jump at the chance to build a ZBox supercomputer in order to use it to develop better nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
Please do check out the updated web page about Taiwan. Taiwanese companies and mainland Chinese companies have given nuclear-weapons technology to Iran. Washington has slapped penalties against Ecoma Enterprise Co. Ltd (based in Taiwan) and 7 other Chinese companies for assisting Tehran.

Hope It's not Another Kid's MovieI hope that the new Star Wars movie actually appeals to adults. If it is just another shoot-em-up robo movie, then I would be seriously disappointed. Such a movie would be no different from Voyager or Enterprise. They suck and are sucking.

Not so Funny: Trademark Theft in ChinaIntel can register all the trademarks that it wants, but such registration means nothing in China. China (which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong) is a hotbed of trademark theft, in addition to theft of intellectual property. Don't believe me? Just go to Yahoo! Search and search for the articles.
Chinese companies frequently take an American product, like a set of golf clubs, and replicate them in their entirety, including the trademark and the holographic (!) seal on the box. The copies are then sold back in the United States.
Conscience? Ethics? No such words in the Chinese dictionary.
-
SHOCKING NOTICE: China achieves first chimera. As I have long warned, the Chinese are morally bankrupt. There was never been any discussion of the ethics of cloning in China, which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong, and the Chinese rushed headlong into cloning. By contrast, the West engaged in lengthy, tortuous debates about cloning.
Notice the lack of Chinese in meetings of Amnesty International? Yep. There is something sick in the state of Chinese society.
Now, the Chinese achieve the first developing fetus that is a human-rabbit hybrid. You tell me who is morally bankrupt. Read the damn article again. Notice all the quotes from Westerners asking, over and over, about the ethics of chimeras. In the whole damn article, there is not one damn quote from the Chinese about ethical issues.
Do you need further proof that the Chinese are morally bankrupt? Christ. You people need to wake up!

USA must be consistent.China is a threat to world peace. Fortunately, someone in Washington has the balls to block this sale.
Further, Washington must be consistent in its approach. Sales of subsidiaries to Taiwan should also be blocked. Last week, a Taiwanese company was penalized by Washington for assisting the Iranians in improving their missiles and other weapons of mass destruction.

China, FireFox, and Google
The concern with Goodger's defection to Google is that Goodger will now steer Firefox development in such a way that it will conform to the coding standards of Beijing. We know that Google kowtows to Beijing because the bulk of its programmers hail from China (which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong). Perhaps, Goodger will now insert special remote control mechanisms in Firefox so that Beijing can more easily censor what the Chinese see.

Money for Space but None for Tsunami VictimsAm I the only person who sees the Chinese for being the brutal snakes that they are? Here's a tally of the contributions to tsunami relief.
1. USA
... $350 million plus hundreds of millions in indirect aid (e.g. 15000 American troops delivering medicine and food and building shelters)
2. Japan ... $500 million
3. Australia ... $810 million
4. Norway ... $183 million
5. China (including Taiwan province and Hong Kong) $80 millionWesterners are, at least, 1 order of magnitude more compassionate than the Chinese. The issue is not that China is poor. The Chinese are not poor. They are spending billions of dollars on space militarization but contribute a lousy f***ing $80 million to the relief effort.
Hell. Look at Taiwan. It coughed up $7 million by itself. Yet, Norway's economy is a tiny fraction of Taiwan's economy, and Norway put out $183 million.

Hard Disk Drive: End of an EraThe reality is that the hard drive, in addition to the floppy drive, is reaching extinction. The density of flash memory is increasing so rapidly that, within 10 years, the hard drive will not be necessary. IBM saw this inevitable demise of the hard drive and sold its hard drive business to a competitor.
The good news is that only Chinese companies [phrusa.org] will be making hard drives and will be driven into bankruptcy while Western companies will develop better technologies. Such an end is most fitting for barbaric Chinese society. Here, "Chinese" refers to anyone from mainland China, Taiwan province, or Hong Kong.
To understand how inhuman Chinese society is, consider the following list of donations to the tsunami relief effort.
1. USA, $350 million plus hundreds of millions of dollars in indirect aid (per the military rescue effort in South Asia)
2. Japan, $500 million
3. Australia, $810 million
4. Norway, $183 million
5. China (including Taiwan province and Hong Kong), $80 millionAs you can see, Western society is, at least, 1 order of magnitude more compassionate and kind than Chinese society. We can literally measure the amount of compassion in dollars.
Note that Norway has only a population of 4.5 million, is much smaller economically than Taiwan, and does not enjoy the special business privileges that Taiwanese companies enjoy in China to reap billions of dollars of profit in the Chinese market. Taiwan gave a measily $7 million, and Norway gave $183 million.
What is "going down" here? Chinese society is barbaric.

How to Circumvent Tyranny? VOIPVOIP is a boon to anyone wanting to circumvent a tyrannical government like that in China. You could encrypt your digitized voice before transmitting it over the Internet to a receiver in Australia. The receiver could then decrypt the voice. You could also use PGP to do the encryption. The Taiwanese spy working for Beijing could eavesdrop on the communication (as it flows over fiber optic lines running near Taiwan) but would never be able to decrypt it. It is a win-win situation for freedom.
Striking hard against barbaric Chinese society is the only way to advance democracy and human rights. Here, "Chinese" refers to anyone from mainland China, Taiwan province, or Hong Kong.

Not Funny: Oracle is a Chinese CompanyAlthough Oracle is headquartered in the West, Oracle management treats its employees in the classic Chinese way: total and utter brutalization. Oracle hires many H-1B workers, of whom the majority are Chinese. As well, Oracle is situated in Silicon Valley, which is dotted with small Chinese companies. Invariably, Oracle will start to look and act very Chinese.
Here, "Chinese" refers to anyone from mainland China, Taiwan province, or Hong Kong.

Western Engineering vs. Chinese TheftHere is another example of fine Western engineering: sending Internet data across power lines. That solves the problem of extending the Internet to rural parts of the USA or the rest of the world.
Note how Westerners invented the key technologies of the Internet. Then Chinese, like those in Taiwan, zealously steal that intellectural property without paying a cent and then design super cheap routers and Ethernet cables by using slave labor in mainland China.
While the Chinese are busy doing that mischief, the Westerners, out of nowhere, propose a revolutionary new way to transmit data. How soon will the Chinese steal that technology as well?
-
Hacker Stopping Own Viruses? Cannot be ChineseHere, we have hackers trying to stop the spread of their own viruses. I bet good money that these hackers are not Chinese.
China is the source of most viruses, malware, and spam. When a virus is unleashed, the Chinese hackers revel in delight as Western victims lose data or, worse, the integrity of the data.
The conscience in Western values is awesome. The lack of conscience in Chinese values is also "awesome".

When? When China is Partitioned.Although this fellow is a the "Spam King", the majority of spam comes from China, which includes Taiwan province and Hong Kong. There will be no significant drop in spam until we can stop spam that is being ejaculated out of China.
In short, unless we invade, conquer, and partition China into harmless entities (thus liberating Tibet), the spam will never stop and will clog up our Internet fiber and coaxial cables.
