Re:I feel obligated to say this...
Back before Cimber Sterling went bankrupt, the founder of Cimber, Jørgen Nielsen, did a barrel roll in an (sadly otherwise empty) ATR42-500. This was in 2008.
He got told off by the Danish air authorities despite being a certified test pilot, because he had declared the flight to be a normal flight instead of a test flight.
There's a picture in this article: http://politiken.dk/indland/ar...

Re:So what?
And WILL be if the links contain nudity.
There was a book recently published in Denmark about the squatter movement (BZ, pronounced as 'besæt', the Danish word for Possess or Take Over). The author tried to link to it on Facebook, but that got pulled off the site because it contained a few nude pictures. Danish newspaper article: http://politiken.dk/kultur/med...

Re:Uh, the name...
Yes, the eth has degenerated (for the most part) in the mainland Nordic languages but is retained in Icelandic and Faroese. Denmark contributed a lot to this - what is spoken today in Norway is more similar to Old Danish than it is to Old Norwegian. Now, I say "for the most part" concerning the mainland languages because, for example, Elfdalian still has the eth.
Overall the mainland languages have taken on a much greater degree of continental influence than Icelandic and Faroese. Take a look at, for example, a Danish paper and click on the sections dropdown. You can probably read the majority of the section categories there, right? Now compare to an Icelandic paper.

Re:Education versus racism
If you follow 1-3) with US police, they will use the Reid Technique to abuse your compliance and extract a false statement. Then you better have the resources of a (no-longer) well-off family and the help of the foreign office of a small nation in order to eventually get freed, like Malthe Thomsen. (I hate linking to the Daily Mail, but the case has not been well-covered internationally.)
The newspaper Politiken has in-depth coverage of the case in Danish.

Re:They've already busted that twice now
I know this is a foreign site and only one sample but there were (and are) left-wingers who believe Obama is the Messiah, or ever better: http://politiken.dk/newsinenglish/article868683.ece
Also, check out the first photo here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Photostream-Business-and-Pleasure-in-August/ - that's from the White House's official photostream.
Also, http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2008/06/06/notes060608.DTL
There are many more. Yes, there are some conservatives that are calling Obama Messiah (or at least implying that liberals think he is) but there are plenty of liberals who actually believe it. -
Re:Legal, but dubious
In 2008 a photo on the front page of a local paper in Denmark was censored. It showed some children playing in a garden, one of them a naked two year old boy. The photo was taken by the mother of some of the children and she was annoyed because she felt that the censors had turned an innocent family photo into something sexual.
It was part of the papers photo competition.
Apparently it was the the people operating the physical printing press that demanded that the photo should be censored!.

Best part is reviews ...
One of Denmark's leading national news papers, Politiken, has a really fun review of Settlers 7:
Don't buy this outstanding game! (Danish article Translated article)
Even rated the game 5 out of 6 but the DRM 1 out of 6And then they followed it up with one entitled " New Copy Protection Punishes The Law Abiding " (Machine translated article)

Re:And nothing of value was lost
Do this many people really not want truly guilty people caught and prosecuted?
Guilty of what and at the expense of what? Could you cite specific examples, as you seem so eager to chastise others for failing to provide?
I don't want people truly guilty of possessing marijuana to be caught and prosecuted. I don't want people truly guilty of indulging in whimsical fantasies involving fictional characters to be caught and prosecuted. I don't want people truly guilty of copyright infringement to be caught and prosecuted. Had this been some years ago I would not have wanted people truly guilty of being gay to be caught and prosecuted. I do not want people truly guilty of sexting to be caught and prosecuted. I do not want people truly guilty of being mistaken for a terrorist to be shot on the London Underground. I do not want people truly guilty of possessing a knife to be caught and prosecuted. I do not want people truly guilty of breast feeding to be caught and prosecuted. I do not want people truly guilty of disobeying school authorities to be caught and prosecuted.
Aside from that, I'd rather rot in prison than have some moron telling me that my privacy is less important than their fishing expedition for child pornography or bomb making recipes. Note from that article a detective is quoted as saying "Unless you tell us we're never gonna know... What is anybody gonna think?". I'd rather be water-boarded than cooperate with that sort of pond life. If a detective wants me to cooperate then they will need a better reason than 'we hope you're guilty of something, let us pry into your private life or we will presume the worse'.
If you haven't guessed, I'm not by definition a 'law-abiding' citizen. Were laws in perfect alignment with my principles then I would still only be law abiding by circumstance, not choice. I'd feel much safer around a person who doesn't try to kill me because they choose not to than someone who is just abiding by the law. So, here's me. Sticking it to the man. And proud of it. With long hair. But not a hippy.

Re:Did Denmark know or not?
The Danish newspaper Politiken has an article where they ask a historian at the Danish institute of International studies... He says that it was known at the time and thus he considers it unlikely that the US kept it secret from the Danish government. He also says that it's extremely unlikely that the bomb still exists as the other were blown up.
The article (in Danish): http://politiken.dk/udland/article596270.ece
Politiken also has another article with the headline "USA kept nuclear bomb a secret to Denmark".
However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Danish government decided to deny it after the crash, even if they didn't know about before the crash... As the Danish government usually has a minority of the seats in parliament and would likely be voted out of office if was to be known that there as American nuclear weapons on Danish territorie. -
Re:Am I missing something or
About the couples, just read from a Danish source here: http://politiken.dk/udland/article520653.ece (last paragraph) and they don't list their sources, but based on my (single minded) view of both countries it fits snugly.

It's going to court
An article in a mainstream Danish newspaper says that the case is going to court, other ISP's are actually chipping in to fund Tele2's suit against the imposed restriction.
-
This thing ain't over yetThe IFPI's gameplan seems to be to establish precedent with a smaller ISP, in this case Tele2.
The other ISPs in the Danish market though do not seem to be willing to play along (yes, I just linked to a Danish article. No, I'm not translating the WHOLE THING!):
The top part goes something like:
ISPs Ignore Bailiff's Ban on thepiratebay.org - Frustrated ISPs are continuing to hold the door to thepiratebay.org open, even if the bailiffs court has asked Tele2 to close down access.
So, what with most of the ISPs digging their heels in it doesn't look quite so cut and dried yet.

already for sale in denmark unlocked
link(in danish): http://politiken.dk/tjek/digitalt/telefoni/article424644.ece
Basically it says that the phone is now available, unlocked. thanks to parallel imports and indirect use of the french directive.
The price is 5900 DKK, approx ~1150 USD.
Thats the price without a calling plan - look mum, no hands!
You are free to do what the fuck you want.
but then again..
Where's the 3G, and why would I have to criminalize myself
should I like to add my own little helper applications not
provided by apple. This system is way to closed.
So they can have their phone and marketing,
I'll see if they fix the issues with it being
so controlled, and I'll stay with the Nokia N95,
until something better will appear in the market,
still N95 beats Iphone. -

Re:Constitution gives more power to parliament?I don't think the new constitution gives the parliament so much power that it would have made a difference on patents. I have voted yes to all the EU treaties since 1993, and expected to vote yes to this, but now it seems a bit naïve to compromise on basic democratic principles.
Not related to the constitution, but enjoy this quote from Bendtsen (link in danish):
"The Finns ensured me that this is not only about Nokia, but that the small and medium sized companies will be hurt if the directive is not adopted."
What an idiot. -
Re:It's going to be traumatic...
Fortunately it seems like the danish socialdemocrats are now supporting a danish no to software patents, which would make Denmark vote against it.. lets hope that this will force the directive to be dropped!

Re:Worst....article....ever
Now, I'm not saying they DIDN'T do it, it sounds like something a business would do. But this piece of "journalism" is not enough to condemn Microsoft for anything. That is by far the poorest execuse for a news article I've ever seen and nothing in it should be taken as fact.
Fair enough, but I can assure this story is the real deal. Your danish is perhaps a little rusty, but here are some links anyway:
http://www.borsen.dk/dagens-nyheder/?ids[]=70135
http://politiken.dk/
It is worth noting, that the source for the story, is none other than Microsofts chief lawyer in Danmark, Marianne Wier, who was present at the meeting between Bill Gates and the danish Prime Minister Anders F. Rasmussen.

Re:From a Dane
Well, the conservative party explicitly writes on the home page, that they oppose software patents!
The minister of forign affairs (conservative) Per Stig Møller said that he would oppose that the item was handled as an A-item
Still, if the liberal party (Danish: Venstre) says jump, the conservatives only ask "how high"... -
A nice Dutch comment on DieboldThe rest of the world is not to impressed by Diebold either. A couple of Dutch jokers have put together this little thing on Diebold and voting (in Florida):

:Previous versions of Netsky, for example, were programed to attack the Web site for an education server in the German state of Lower Saxony where the German suspect lived, security officials point out.The danish newspaper Politiken cites Reuter for writing that anonymous messengers put Microsoft on the trace on the writer. Subsequently Microsoft told FBI and the German federate police, and the three of them collaborated.

Early CD experiences
The nat'l library of Denmark is now copying CDs (pressed, not burned) that they archived in mid/early 80ies. They have an archive of 25'000 CDs - never played, never exposed to light or heat. Just last week an article (danish sorry) about it. Select quotes:
On some there was an oily creamy layer on the bottom side. On others there were lots of needle thin holes in the disk - you could actually see light through. Still others had the different layers separating, with water in between [...] We've seen the phenomenon in the very first generation of CDs from the early 80ies. In a box of 50 CDs from the same year there were maybe two dissolving, so lifetime must depend on manufacturer and material -
Re:Editors on crack...
The article speaks mostly about Sun's StarOffice and how students will be offered it, not that every school will switch to Linux.
What I find amazing is that this story is more "news worthy" than Denmarks resent law (passed on 11/12-02) and enforced from 22/12-02, whick makes it illegal to import or resell music CDs, DVDs, books and comics from outside EU. Except for your own personal use. Which means that any buisness, education or public service (Radio and TV) have to ask permission each time they want to buy/import any of these items, if they survive long enough. Laserdisken (a Danish shop specilized in import of DVDs from America and Asia) have already begone to close two of its three shops.
