Re:I would sue the Scouts too
On the other hand, this is exactly the reason why the Youth Protection policy exists. One youth and one adult may, under no circumstances, be alone together. Ever. Private conferences are allowed, but must be within line-of-sight of other people.
Male-female interaction is also already regulated in the BSA. Basically, two people of the opposite gender may not be alone together, regardless of age, unless they are married. I don't know if you were striving for this, but in your post you made it sound like there were no female leaders. This is definitely not the case, and troops can (and do) even have all-female adult leadership sometimes.
And if it makes anyone feel better, several councils (including, from what I hear, Boston Minuteman), have enacted "don't ask, don't tell" policies despite what National is doing. -
Re:I would sue the Scouts too
Not quite. Jews are not the only non-christians in the boy scouts. While I saw no mention of shintoism on this list, Buddhism and Hinduism are definitely on it. On that list were also Zoroastrian, Islam and Baha'i. Your assumption that Boy Scouts of America is completely closed-minded is unwarranted.

Re:I would sue the Scouts too
While it is true that the Boy Scout law has a pledge of "Reverence" and the oath promises "to do my duty to God and my Country," That's about as specific as it gets. The Boy Scouts of America does actually award religious emblems for Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and a number of other religions http://www.scouting.org/awards/religious/awards/. However, they do not make official mention of Athiesm, Agnositicism, nor Unitarian Universalism. Unofficially, however, all of the councils with whom I have been affiliated [most of the ones in Texas] have been quite tolerant of Agnosticism and Atheism, even to the extent that they advertised the option not to attend the non-denominational services being held if your beliefs did not align with the existance of a higher power. As a card-carrying Agnostic Eagle Scout, I felt the need to step in here and dispell some rumors.

Finally, an excerpt which is the most relevant part of this entire discussion:
"...subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance..."
Private schools, clubs, groups - the first amendment is not relevant to such entities. -
Re:Unfair Moderation.
I'm beginning to think that the BSA you're referring to isn't the Boy Scouts of America...

Religious badgesOut of curiosity, just took a quick look at some of the religious badges they offer. These are similar to merit badges, with different versions available for different religions, and I believe created in cooperation with whatever official institutions exist for that religion. In addition to the numerous Christian badges for the various different sects, I see there are also Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish and Zoroastrian badges (as listed here, for anyone's edification).
Just thought I'd share, for the hell of it.

Business Software Alliance isn't the BSA
Though the Business Software Alliance picked their name to backronym nicely over the Not Evil original BSA.

Brain sergury, Rockets, the Boy Scouts and about a million other things
The Boy Scouts of America were incorporated in 1910. The Nazi party founded the Hitler Youth group in 1926. How are the Scouts part of Hitler's legacy? -
Re:I nominate the BSA.
I wasn't aware that the Boy Scouts of America were such a group of hard-core hackers.

Re:BSA?
Actually, I think they make Eagle Scouts...

Re:Eagle scout?
The highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America.

Get the kid involved?Seems like the solution to this isn't Time Scout, but rather Boy Scouts or some other extracurriclar activity. One weekend a month, plus a weekly meeting during the school year and a week out of the summer. Joining Troop 592, Portland was one of the best decisions I made when I was younger. Great for the eternally gaming youth, after all, Scouting is a game with a purpose. FPS addict? we have you covered. Think of it like the meatspace port of America's Army.
Scouting not your speed? Adults not willing to help out with troop logistics occasionally? Go grab your local equivilent of Computer Bits and find your local gaming groups. Yeah, it's not really reducing hours gamed, but it's getting that all-important social interaction, which is the ultimate goal.
Gaming too much is more of a social issue than a technological one, and one that requires a social solution.

Re:Wait, what?
My point is that the BSA still has something of a good reputation left, whereas the Business Software Association never did to start with. The fact that most people associate BSA with the Boy Scouts, and the idea that the Business Software Association is trying to make themselves look like the good guys, is where the confusion comes in. It would not surprise me in the slightest if it turned out they just backcronymed against the Boy Scout's good name.

Wait, what?
Before the BSA starts talking about hijacking stuff, perhaps they need to talk to these people about infringing on names.

Do a good deed daily
A German university was accused by the BSA of pirating MS Office, because they mirrored OpenOffice.org. The scripts from the BSA only check for "Office" in the filename and then automatically send out notices to the ftp admins.
Dadgumit, the Boy Scouts of America have gone too far this time! Back in my day, we helped little old ladies across the street... Now they're policing for pirated software? Sheesh... -
BSA versus BSA
Please fully expand it as Business Software Association to keep people from confusing us with these idiots.

Why would the Boy Scouts of America want extra protection in Europe?

Not at all. Any lawyers out there who want to try to talk the Boy Scouts of America into suing the Business Software Alliance? Pretty please? -

BSA?
How did the Boy Scouts get into this cartel? -
What about the BSA
The Boy Scouts of America seem to catch alot of guff, however they do support a boys curiosity and interest in learning. And not just about the outdoors. Just a thought. Droupou the Friendly Dwarven Warrior.

Re:Neonatzi's in the US
Disclaimer: I was/am a member of the Boy Scouts, with the rank of eagle.
What's interesting that information like this gets moderated up to "Interesting," and without any facts to back it up. First off, The BSA was founded in 1910 (before WW1 or 2!) by Robert Baden-Powell and William D. Boyce. It was based on the British Military system (yes, even the uniforms), and has been adapted into what you see today
