Re: The Ministry of Truth
Snopes went a bit crazy during the last election cycle and has pretty obvious liberal bias at this point.
Stymied by "reality's well-known liberal bias," you've adopted the tactic of claiming that anybody who cares about reality is biased. That's horseshit and it only fools people who want to be fooled.
In the case of snopes, guys like you convinced me to start bookmarking every snopes article that generally confirmed an (american) conservative worldview. After a while I got tired of reading snopes so my list only covers a couple of months. Nevertheless, the amount of actual evidence that counters your claim is overwhelming:
FACT CHECK: Does Russia Have 'Kompromat' on Jason Chaffetz?
Trump 'Bullies' Boy by Tossing Hat at Easter Egg Roll?
FACT CHECK: Did Sen. Jeff Flake State Solar Energy Can't Power "Lights [at] Night"?
Did President Trump Profit from the U.S. Missile Strike Against Syria?
White House Admits Syria Missile Attack Was a Publicity Stunt to Make Trump Look Good?
FACT CHECK: Is President Donald Trump Considering Resignation?
Did Democrats Tweet an Altered Version of a Socialist Party Poster?
Did Tom Price Say It Is 'Better for Our Budget If Cancer Patients Die More Quickly'?
Did President Trump Announce Plans to End the 'Meals on Wheels' Program?

Re:scammers rejoice
A casual think-through of this (how does this work, why would anyone bother?), plus no citations of actual incidents (just a circle jerk of media stories based on vague warnings) sets off my B.S. meter. Snopes article.

Re: Leftism is causing more division and strife.
The Russians are a strange bunch in this matter. On the one hand many of them are right wing religious nuts, on the other hand the very same people glorify the soviet past which was neither. I sort of understand where it is coming from, but it is strange nonetheless.
Yes it is odd. Then again, so is presumed conservatives electing a person who as closely as we can tell amid the conflicting statements - not a conservative at all. Even appointed a Leninst to the security council http://www.snopes.com/bannon-l... who I suspect got tossed off it because of issues getting a security clearance.
Then again, in Newspeak America, perhaps Lenin = conservative?

Thought experiments are good
Thought experiments are how you come up with an idea that nobody has thought of before.
Back in the late 1980sI was on an email discussion group for Traveller (a sci-fi RPG). Someone asked why hydrogen fuel (for fusion) was stored as water aboard ships. Someone answered that water stores hydrogen atoms more densely than hydrogen gas, and the energy needed to chemically break off the hydrogen atoms off of water was trivial compared to the energy you could get from fusing them into helium. That spawned a discussion about whether there were other molecules which stored hydrogen even more compactly. Methane (CH4) was an obvious choice - 4 hydrogen atoms per non-hydrogen base, compared to just 2 for water (H2O). But eventually we settled on ammonia (NH4) because it's liquid at room temperature and wouldn't require pressurization or cryogenic storage in a vehicle sharing space with a life support environment for humans.
It's totally useless info right now (and probably the next few decades). But it's something that will be important in the future. -
Re:BETRAYAL
Well, not quite fake. Snopes has it as "unproven".
When asked about it, Clinton said "I don't recall that" which is not the same thing as a denial. Remember, she is a lawyer and plausible deniability comes with the territory.
She replied (watch the video) that if it she had said it, it would have been a joke. People can choose to believe her or not believe her but it's not 100% certainty it's fake.

Re: Reminder: "Hacking" was mere illumination
There are retracted news articles all the time, you should be able to do better.
1) This appears to be referring to this article:
http://www.politico.com/story/...
Here is the Fox (Faux) News article you are probably basing your statement on:
http://insider.foxnews.com/201...
Politico seems to have gotten the basic facts correct in this case and Competitive Enterprise Institute seems to have gotten it wrong. The mistake Politico had made in the original article was stating that OneWest had done the foreclosure when it had been CIT who had merged with OneWest. The mistake was using the old company name instead of the new company name. Mnuchin was on the board of CIT when the second foreclosure took place.
"CORRECTION: This story has been corrected to reflect that CIT Bank, successor to OneWest after a 2015 merger, was the entity that filed foreclosure proceedings against Ossie Lofton over a 27-cent payment error. The story has also been revised to clarify that there were two separate foreclosure proceedings against Lofton. At the time the second foreclosure was filed in 2016, Mnuchin had sold his stake in OneWest and was on the board of CIT."
Other fact checkers have confirmed that Fox is wrong and the foreclosure did take place. You can even see the court case yourself:
https://pro.polkcountyclerk.ne...
Search for: "CIT BANK, N.A. vs. LOFTON OSSIE".Score: Politico: 1, Faux News: 0.
That said, I'm not really a fan of Politico atm. They just posted a totally garbage anti-Semitic article claiming that Trump is linked to Putin because Putin met with a Chabad Rabbi who had once met a rabbi who did a bris that Ivanka Trump went to and thus there is some Jewish conspiracy linking the two men... The way the article is written is a total conspiracy theory. That would be a much better example of fake news. I'm not a fan of Trump, but you don't need to come up with anti-Semitic conspiracy theories to link Trump and Putin.
2) As others pointed out in this thread, it was actually Nancy Sinatra who seemed to change her tune and claim the negative Trump comment she had tweeted earlier was a "joke." Although to be fair, it might have been meant as a joke but there was no way for CNN to know that. I wouldn't call that fake news.
3) If you read the article, there doesn't seem to be anything fake about it. They even mention that it was probably part of the plan to shift to a different site.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/0...
http://www.snopes.com/white-ho...
What you are leaving out is that it has been several months and Trump still doesn't have anything up on whitehouse.gov about these issues from what I can tell. How is the New York times article "fake news"?
4) As someone else pointed out, they reported on people who objected to the content of the speech not that he gave one there. Here is the article you are claiming is fake news. What exactly is fake? Did the people who Washington Post said objected to the speech not really object?
https://www.washingtonpost.com...
5) It sounds like Spicer is lying (nothing new), not CBS. Although CBS seems to be a little misleading as there were some CIA staff who seemed to support Trump, but the facts about Trump bringing people to cheer him on seem to be correct.

Re: You may not like this
I have no way of knowing if you are the same AC that I was talking to before, but either way, you've missed some context.
Sorry, but as I see it, identity is of no concern here, and nope, I see no missing context either.
If you wish to engage solely with identifiable partners on this, I can only suggest you contact a nearby law school to see if they have some sort of seminars you can attend.
As for context, I will offer my rejections of your statement on that a bit further down.
Effectively, you are claiming that a man invented a carburetor in the 70s that got 400 miles per gallon, and as proof, you send me a link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor, as if the existence of carburetors in general were sufficient to prove the existence of an extraordinary magical carb.
As I see it, your representation of the situation is incorrect, because unlike the Wikipedia article, which at best, has an indirect reference, mine actually include direct and particular material citations.
Much like if I linked to This fellow, to explain to you that the "miracle carburetor" was a known urban legend. As such, I would consider links to it sufficient to show that it is considered to be a myth.
Find me an example of originalism being applied, by a court, as described in the context claimed.
I provided more than enough references to actual statements and opinions by known, self-professed originalists, as well as people's observations of them, for you to recognize and acknowledge them.
Of course, if you are insistent that they be in the majority, and able to effectuate their principles solely on those means, I would say that that is not necessary for them, as a mere offering in dissent is demonstrative on its own. Therefore, I would reject any such requirement upon your part, not that you have clearly articulated it, but in case that was your intent, and you failed to make it clear, and that was the context which you claimed I missed, then I am repudiating it. I made no statements as to their success after all.
So here they are again, in sufficient reference for you to review, but you'll have to access the links yourself, I don't feel like bothering further for you:

Re:Side effect of the Fake news in MSM
Not to mention the numerous familial relationships between politicians and media personnel.
Snopes does their best to trivialize them while remaining factual and listing them, but their commentary and rationale just reveals a creeping bias, sadly. (i.e. Just because Jay Carney is no longer the White House Press Secretary now doesn't diminish the influence he could have had for the years he was.)

*After* finishing the upgrades, despite being 4 times the size of the average Nashville house and functioning as both home and office, average houses in Nashville used 20-30% more energy during a heatwave. (Last paragraph of article)
so yes he's putting his money where his mouth is. -
Re:But Dissent is Now HATE
Nope, no link to a Snopes article which as you described it "did nothing to dispute the story" there.
Which would be easy, I mean, you could just post to a random story like this, but exactly what would that prove? Lots of Snopes articles have nothing to do with a particular subject.
Your problem is your "fake news" that made up a false claim.
-
Re:But Dissent is Now HATE
Whatever "this" is, it's on Breitbart, so it's about 99% likely to be utter bullshit. Possibly a small kernel of truth wrapped in bullshit.
Then prove it. What did they say that was bullshit?
But if you're learning your opinions and, uh, "facts" from Breitbart still then there is no hope for you.
And if you dismiss everything out of ideology, there is no hope for you. The Breitbart article is sourced. It's all fact. The tweets aren't made up, the national recognition from the Whitehouse isn't made up, and her organizational leadership and speech at the Women's March wasn't made up. Even Snopes couldn't manage a half-assed dismissal.
Bury your head in the sand all you want, the truth is out there, and ignoring it is part of the reason Trump got elected.

Re:Uhm...
I'd hate to pin a percentage on anything Trump says about business - because we don't actually know the extent of his financial empire (or ruin) as he never released the necessary documentation

That is 1 state above the threshold for making the criticism legitimate.
It is technically illegal in one rural state, yet, despite claims to the contrary, there is no record of anyone ever being procesecuted in Idaho for feeding a baby.
It is a total non-issue, and anyone upset about the zero women who have gone to jail is just looking for some phony manufactured issue to be outraged about.
So God bless motherhood, and God bless the United States of America.

The one saying she would get on her knees if you voted the way she wanted was not Trump
Side note: Liberals are so stupid Snopes had to actually cover this item to explain it was not a real offer....
Snopes is going soft though; no coverage of the veracity on her level of eye contact or swallowing.

Re:hmm...
completely ignores the fact of her cozy little Russian uranium deal (and the major speaking fees old Willy pulled in right after that deal complete, from his Moscow visit)
Maybe because it's not a fact.
Don't believe everything Breitfart tells you.
-
Re:Next!
It could put CNN out of business
You mean Breitbart who literally, in the truest sense of the word, has put up false and fake information (it can't be called news). Even Bannon has called them out for posting fake information.
It's why companies have ditched advertising on the fake site.
But let me guess, "alternative facts"? Or is it a camera in a microwave?

Re:It was Kennedy
Ahh, the ole Bush helped the Nazis kill jews bit.
Yes, that old bit, in which it is revealed that Prescott Bush could not possibly have not known what he was doing. In fact, a number of corporations willingly cooperated with the Nazis. Without their assistance, the axis could not have made war effectively. Naturally, every one of these corporations has tried to disclaim responsibility for what their German divisions were up to, but the ongoing relationships between such entities during the war make that difficult. The service contract for the concentration camp management machines was paid straight to IBM's American operations in Armonk, NY, for example.
It is a fact (simple or not) that American interests willfully and thus traitorously aided the axis for profit. And it is a fact that Prescott Bush was among them.

Jesus, do you believe every shitnugget your wingnut mouthpieces feed you?

Re:And further
Nothing misleading about the headline unless you're really easily confused - It does not say DJT was wiretapped. It doesn't even imply it. From the Snopes article that directly addresses the article in question:
...“only the most obtuse misreading” of the article would lead one to conclude that Donald Trump was under surveillance.

Re:And further
Here's the Snopes article that uses your graphic. It explains why you're confused at least as well as I can.

Re:The truth of the accusation...
I wasn't defending Trump,
At best, you are merely silent in the face of his gross incompetence. If you are truly capable of repudiating Trump, however, you'll do it, forthrightly and boldly, instead.
But in reality, of course, you are blindly supportive of Trump, cheering him on, even as he pisses on your face. You can't even offer the slightest criticism.
but you were defending some of the really nasty shit that the Obama administration did.
Not one of the accusations made by Mashiki was one of substance or meaning. In fact, several of them were outright bullshit. Of course, Mashiki is known for repeating bullshit. Just a week or so ago, he was passing around the photoshop about Marines volunteering for White House guard duty.
But you cut it off, and produced nothing but your own shrieking tantrum.
Your only response is to divert attention to a bunch of bullshit tweets.
Nope. My response, which you blithely ignored, covered a variety of subjects. You merely screamed like a toddler, to try to ignore them.
Of course, you don't want to admit that Trump has a history of such bullshit Tweets, and now that he's President, he still can't control himself enough to avoid making up accusations about wiretaps.
You can't criticize him at all. But he's not even a conservative. He's a con-man.
Yet you let him tweet all sorts of stuff, without criticism or rebuke.
The raid in Yemen likely was also the fault of the Obama administration - they planned it.
Once again, you wish to excuse Trump. But Trump was the man in charge, he made the decision to do it. The people who planned it would be the military officers who Trump authorized to do it. They might have been a tad excessive in their estimates, but they weren't politically motivated in the same way.
Obama refused to implement it, perhaps because he knew the risks weren't worth it. Trump, being desirous of a quick and easy victory, did do so, but now doesn't want to pay the price of his intemperance. He'd rather...blame Obama.
Just like you are doing. Telling sign, that.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Obama supporters in the deep state tipped off the AQIY about the raid just to get at Trump. They are literally that corrupt.
This merely informs us to the degree of your own personal malice, but that wasn't in doubt. You probably still believe Obama faked his birth certificate, that Nixon was framed, and that John Wilkes Booth, Leon Czolgosz, Cho Seung-Hui and Charles Guiteau were Democrats. Also that Hillary Clinton has conducted a widespread murder spree, including whatever random people you can attribute to it.
I guess I should ask if you're trying to make conservatives look bad. Is that your goal? Sometimes I wonder that about the current GOP. They spent 6 years demanding an ACA repeal, but never thought to work up an alternative until...this year?
What kind of stupidity does that take?
Seriously, explain that one.
Why has the GOP failed to offer a credible, cognizable alternative, all this time?

Re:snopes?
Snopes is by far the most unbiased fact checking site. It is clear they attempt to be unbiased. All other fact checking sites in existence were created and are operated simply to disprove people they do not like. I am not saying massive is not correct, but it is still without bounds where it is a useful site. And they do a decent job of collecting and summarizing the data. It is just the Truthiness rating that is sometimes way off. Look at the "Hillary started the Birther movement" article. Sure, it is caped off with a False, but what follows is the single best summary of all the proof that the Hillary campaign did birth the birther movement. They did orders of magnitude better at proving that statement than Breitbart did.
The theory started with conservatives, though didn't take off. Some Clinton supporters (and possibly some people associated with the campaign) pushed it a bit during the primary battle, but again it didn't take off.
Where the conspiracy theory actually got traction, ie the start of the birther movement, was with Republicans.
Realistically the start of the birther movement was Obama running for president while being a black person who was somewhat exotic and spent some time growing up outside of the US. There's a portion of the population who will view him as not being authentically American, and they look for ways to rationalize that feeling. That demographic leans strongly Republican, and the moment the idea that he might not be American came up they jumped all over it.

Fact Checking Liberal Bias
Snopes has a massive and blatant liberal bias.
I hear that complaint a lot. So I decided to fact check it.
For a few months I bookmarked each fact-check result that was generally favorable to a conservative viewpoint. Real life isn't binary so not all conservatives will agree on everything. Still, I tried to be inclusive such that as long as at least one interpretation of the results was a win for at least some type of conservative, it went on the list. I don't read snopes every day so the list isn't complete and some of these articles have been updated with new information that made them less pleasant for conservatives. But close enough.
