New York Police Department detectives and prosecutors working an alleged underage sexting case against former Congressman Anthony Weiner have turned over a newly-found laptop he shared with wife Huma Abedin to the FBI with enough evidence "to put Hillary (Clinton) and her crew away for life," NYPD sources told True Pundit.

NYPD sources said Clinton's "crew" also included several unnamed yet implicated members of Congress in addition to her aides and insiders.

The NYPD seized the computer from Weiner during a search warrant and detectives discovered a trove of over 500,000 emails to and from Hillary Clinton, Abedin and other insiders during her tenure as secretary of state. The content of those emails sparked the FBI to reopen its defunct email investigation into Clinton on Friday.

But new revelations on the contents of that laptop, according to law enforcement sources, implicate the Democratic presidential candidate, her subordinates, and even select elected officials in far more alleged serious crimes than mishandling classified and top secret emails, sources said. NYPD sources said these new emails include evidence linking Clinton herself and associates to:

Money laundering
Child exploitation
Sex crimes with minors (children)
Perjury
Pay to play through Clinton Foundation
Obstruction of justice
Other felony crimes

NYPD detectives and a NYPD Chief, the department's highest rank under Commissioner, said openly that if the FBI and Justice Department fail to garner timely indictments against Clinton and co- conspirators, NYPD will go public with the damaging emails now in the hands of FBI Director James Comey and many FBI field offices.

"What's in the emails is staggering and as a father, it turned my stomach," the NYPD Chief said. "There is not going to be any Houdini-like escape from what we found. We have copies of everything. We will ship them to Wikileaks or I will personally hold my own press conference if it comes to that."

The NYPD Chief said once Comey saw the alarming contents of the emails he was forced to reopen a criminal probe against Clinton.

"People are going to prison," he said.

Meanwhile, FBI sources said Abedin and Weiner were cooperating

No it's a dead platform because fewer and fewer new apps are being made for it as noted even by MS. It's a dead platform because current app developers are abandoning Windows Phone to focus on Android and iPhone which the vast majority of their customers are using. It's a dead platform because MS said it will no longer focus on new features or hardware but will still provide security updates and patches. If you want to keep using your phone, go ahead. But the day is coming soon where you won't be able to get new hardware or features from MS at the same time your app developers stops updating your favorite apps and no new apps can replace them.

We seeing an example of inadequate communication. A very limited explanation was posted as a comment to an unrelated story.

Slashdot is extremely important to the technology community.

What Ray Morris said in the parent comment seems reasonable to me.

Found a very brief statement.

But they fucked up because the "free shareware episode" here already contains the data for the extra "commercial episodes" and only a small switch gets flipped to enable continuing.

What's more interesting, which Slashdot didn't touch on naturally, was that last week when this story broke the explanation was that Sega fucked up by publishing the full non-demo version of the game for a couple hours.

The way it was initially reported, there was no "small switch to flip" to enable the full game.
It was just all there.

Players reported on reddit that where the demo was supposed to stop according to teaser videos from Sega, their game didn't stop and kept right on progressing.

So the initial reports are that Sega fucked up and published the full version instead of a demo.
Now the stories have changed with Sega claiming players had to do something to unlock it beyond just beating a level.

While I don't really know what happened nor played the demo when it was out, I'm FAR more likely to believe the players reporting the demo wasn't a demo.
Because currently Sega is trying to pass off the blame (which is expected), that they claim they didn't fuck up (also expected), and the many videos on youtube are not all faked showing players beating the level and just advancing to the next "locked" level automatically with no tricks glitches or otherwise fucking around with the thing.

Trump's tweet about Moscow laughing its ass off was unusually (perhaps accidentally) accurate. Loyal Putinites and dissident intellectuals alike are remarkably united in finding the American obsession with Russian meddling to be ridiculous. The intellectuals are amused to see Americans so struck by an indictment that adds virtually nothing to a piece published in the Russian media outlet RBC, back in October; I wrote https://www.newyorker.com/news... at the time that the article showed the Russian effort to be more of a cacophony than a conspiracy. The Kremlin and its media are, as Joshua Yaffa writes https://www.newyorker.com/news..., tickled to be taken so seriously. Their sub-grammatical imitations of American political rhetoric, their overtures to the most marginal of political players, are suddenly at the very heart of American political life. This is the sort of thing Russians have done for decades, dating back at least to the early days of the Cold War, but those efforts were always relegated to the dustbin of history before they even began.

Goldman, the Facebook V.P., has seen more of the Russian ads and posts than most Americans, and his imagination clearly strains to accommodate the push to take them seriously. The Russians actively prevented the Clinton campaign from going to Wisconssin.

Let's face it, the Clinton campaign was built around the message of "It's all about her and being a woman president". All of the Twitter clients I have used have pretty good support for multiple Twitter logins. The website has zero such support (unless I've missed something? Would be happy to be proven wrong here).

Like many people I know, I have a professional and a personal Twitter account. I'd prefer to be able to see both feeds interleaved, and to be able to easily post to either account. On the web site you have to log out and log back in, which really sucks compared to clients.

The Mac does have other standalone clients though, so it's not like Mac users are losing anything. If anything they are better off being forced to migrate to vastly better third party apps (the official Mac Twitter app is absolutely terrible).

Anyone who uses the stock Ubuntu AMIs on AWS EC2 knows that there is no "installation" -- you get a bootable and usable OS instantly.

So, will this feature be enabled by default in those AMIs? If so, how can one opt out of it as early on as possible so that nothing gets transmit to Canonical *ever*?

This distantly reminds me of the Canonical's choice to stick content of their choosing into your MOTD. I got wind of this because our Ubuntu-based systems in AWS suddenly had lines talking about irrelevant TV shows in our MOTDs. A ticket was filed to investigate this, by which point many people were seeing said lines. Further research turned up this master/root ticket of the implementation, which contains (read the comments/replies slowly) evidence of failed engineering design choices: blindly assuming Internet access was available to the system on boot (and blocking the boot process as a result), which is not the case for systems behind firewalls with strict outbound ACLs (i.e. expect a very long timeout to that TCP SYN to destination port 443) or on 100% private networks (no Internet access at all). The type of data included in client headers (during HTTP/HTTPS GET) also came into question.

The effort was done entirely by what appeared to be a single Canonical employee: Dustin Kirkland.

This is exactly why you don't implement stuff like this. To assume the system is connected to a network that has Internet access is faulty. If you implement a timer or queue-based system, again you are making assumptions about the availability of the network (and reachability), DNS setups, and so on -- it's literally a waste of resources in every way (CPU time, any logging, temporary files, general disk I/O, forking of processes, etc.). Furthermore, in some cases, it may actually violate company policies -- disclosure of some information to remote parties about the local system (most administrators wouldn't know about this in advance, and possibly wouldn't even know how to disable it).

KISS principle applies: you don't have to worry about opt-in vs. opt-out if crap like this is never implemented in the first place; there's no problem to solve if you don't create the problem.

In general, Canonical needs to stop trying stuff like this. For whatever reason they repeatedly have shown they do not think about the full ramifications of their actions. They seem to believe the entire Ubuntu userbase is running their OS on residential desktops, not servers on 100% segregated networks. I don't care if the opt-out is in GNOME only, everyone should be questioning "where" and "how" this is implemented on the system, given their track record.

Apple has now confirmed that the fixes they have in the public betas will be rolled out as minor releases for the current versions of iOS and macOS, rather than being kept for the next big release of each.

As for Mashable's reporting? Still lousy. They finally updated their article with the information it was missing at the time it was originally published, but then they went and added that "the fix will slowly roll out to older software", suggesting that the current versions won't get the fix until after the betas are released, even though the iMore article they linked as a source for that info says nothing of the sort. Quite the contrary, iMore's editor-in-chief is saying Apple will roll the fixes out before the betas are released.
