Re:Fake beers
No kidding. De Beers is like the worst caricatures of evil capitalists.
...They are not "like" a caricature of evil. They are evil. The very essence of violent, monopolistic corruption. They do not tolerate competition. They invented the modern perception of diamonds as rare, valuable objects synonymous with "love" and they mean to guard that perception like a saber-tooth mother hen. It's a crystallized piece of carbon. DeBeers has huge warehouses filled with raw diamonds. They restrict the supply to keep prices high.

Bullshit
I grew in USSR and women were not half of the scientists.
In math/physics fields they were in minority, somewhat less so in Chemistry.
USSR's Academy of Science was nearly completely male. There were plenty of female engineers (about 60% if I recall it right), but it was also because that profession was paid poorly.
That's a completely different phenomena. But good job twisting "oppression" in. Perhaps you could explain us this graph:

Sonically and stylistically, pop music is now more homogeneous than ever. Arrangements, mix, instrumentation, even sound-alike synth patches replicated endlessly.
Your ears have gotten old, is all. Here are some songs from the Billboard 100 as of today. Tell me how they are sonically and stylistically homogeneous.

Re: That's nothing
You shouldn't be dissing I.T. closet cleaners. They often volunteer to do jobs that everyone else spent years avoiding. For example, creimer cleared out a 600-sqft storage closet that no one had seen the floor in eight years. He did that in between tickets over a six week period. He also finished deploying 750 PCs and 1,500 monitors ahead of schedule, ending his 12-month contract after nine months.

So yeah, it is all over compressed, similar sounding 120 beat per minute 4 chord stuff. I don't even think the music has chord changes in the songs anymore.

Re:High Cost of Damaging the Brand
I have lost any remaining interest in the franchise
Agree. I lost interest after the 3rd movie, Episode 6. I've seen Ep 1 and 2 -- my friends drug me to them (at least I got free popcorn) -- but haven't bothered keeping track of any updates.
"The Force" must be strong with my wallet, as I still have my money for NOT seeing them. (I haven't even pirate-watched them. You know you've missed an audience member when they won't even bother to watch your movie for free, never mine purchasing it.)
I'm just waiting for the V rewrite -- "Luke, I am your other mother." Later on, in VI, the Emperor can say, "Strike me down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards the LGBT side will be complete." They've modified everything else, why not that as well? -

Re:how does ANYONE benefit from a PS5?
> So no interest in 4k, 8k or any fps higher than 30.
Hope you are enjoying that shitty 12 fps in Dark Souls, because the rest of us sure aren't put up with those shenangins.
Just because _you_ can't tell the difference between 24 fps (which looks like shit) and 60 fps doesn't imply that no one else can either -- because we most certainly tell if there is micro-stuttering below 60 fps for even as little as on frame.
If you actually had a 120 Hz monitor you might even be able to visually visually see the difference between 30, 60, and 120 fps like some of us. You might even learn that VR looks like crap if runs at less then 90 Hz.
Fighting games have, thankfully, LONG been running at 60 FPS -- at least since the Soul Calibur 1 days on Dreamcast, in spite of people like you not knowing or not caring about the difference. Thankfully, Soul Calibur 6 is also running at 60 fps.

institutionalized biasLady Ada talks briefly with Google's James McLurkin on fairness in AI training:
Lady Ada: "We're engineers, but historically when there was a photo of an engineer..."
James McLurkin: "It didn't look like either of us."
Lady Ada: "I think this is something that we think about because, what is an engineer semantically? We know it isn't by definition a 35 year old white male who lives in San Francisco."
James McLurkin: "But if you look at the magazine covers, if your dataset of engineers is magazine covers...
It's an interesting point. The last thing we want to do is institutionalize our biases.
