Anything not accepted by the echo chamber is crazy
Once again, anything not immediately accepted by the esteemed academic echo chamber is looked at is being crazy.
It never hurts to re-explore and think different. This reminds of the Rupert Sheldrake's banned TED talk, https://youtu.be/JKHUaNAxsTg
As Sheldrake states, "free inquiry is the very lifeblood of scientific endeavor"I applaud a person willing to "rethink" what we think we already know.
I think Mark Twain said it best, "It ain't what you don't know that gets you in trouble, it is was you know for sure and you're wrong about, that's what gets you in trouble."

Re:Translation
.. will be available in the vast majority of mobile devices
... will be mandated for every phone sold in North AmericaEventually, owning and carrying a smartphone will be compulsory - it will serve as your government ID and will sub for driver's licence, passport, Social Insurance / Social Security card, health card, etc. There will be no rooting, no disabling of location services, no turning off mobile data and WiFi. 'Airplane Mode' will be turned off and on automatically - there will be a separate always-on low-power RF transceiver specifically for that purpose. If you are allowed to turn your phone off, it won't be fully off - it will be recording audio all the time. Letting your battery die without a damned good excuse will be a criminal offence. As will putting your phone in a Faraday cage.
Part of me kinda thinks I'm just trolling here - but the bigger part is afraid that much of what I've outlined above may really come to pass. After all, if I could go back to 1980 and tell my then-self what happens in the world after 2000, that earlier self would be totally incredulous.
I'll just leave this here.
They're already working on essentially that very technology.
No population has ever regretted being extremely cautious about allowing government to expand it's powers & scope, whether directly or by using private sector resources to accomplish their goals.

It's the left's war on science
Everyone thinks that it's conservatives that are holding us back scientifically. That is not really so much the case.
Liberals are their own worse enemy. They care a lot about the environment, but want to hold up the tools that would actually get us to the point of improving things. Maybe if they had not opposed nuclear power so vehemently back in the '70s we'd have far more electric cars on the road already. GM had a viable electric car long before Tesla came along too.

Re: funny when Trumpies try deflecting from Muelle
This is still a free country, despite the occasional nazi going down in flames due to their own unsupportable actions. God Bless.
Hitler was a Progressive. Most of the Nazi platform reads like Progressive/DNC platform planks. The gas chambers Hitler gassed the Jews with were directly a result of Progressives like George Bernard Shaw.

I was pretty sure I would hear "Laurel", and expected to hear "Laurel" because I heard the explanation about why people hear different things. I ended up hearing something I didn't expect to hear. Neither "Laurel" or "Yanni" but "Yenny". I do not hear the first vowel as an "a" at all but rather an "e".

Good to the last drop
Science is not static and California did not bypass it. Science is a constant process of discovery and the results are seldom binary.
A better opinion piece with citations: https://www.healthline.com/nut...
Has anyone ever heard of Acrylamide before reading the original article?
I'm still going to enjoy coffee regardless of the warning label informing me of exposure.
Why stay ignorant?
When new science comes out, I'll adjust accordingly.*
People are still going to do whatever they want https://youtu.be/wGI3rL7smN8
We left a generation dead from "No Smoking DOES NOT cause cancer".
And who kept singing that chorus?
* DRINK UP the science:
Acrylamide is NOT known to occur as a natural product. pg 392 https://monographs.iarc.fr/ENG...
but wait?! it does roast naturally .. roasting process had the most significant effect on acrylamide levels in natural coffee https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/p...
Cancer is just ...bad luck... these results suggest ... 0.81 correlation http://science.sciencemag.org/...
It's really safe to drink no warnings needed https://youtu.be/ovKw6YjqSfM -

Re:People Pulling Train Car
>Now if the Testla would be able to accelerate the plane from 0 to 15mph in 10 seconds that would be impressive.
this should suffice. the alfa romeo does 4-4.5s for the 0-60 https://youtu.be/ib-02b2ooLY?t...
You misunderstood the the gp... The post is challenging Tesla that if it can pull a plane and accelerate from 0 to 15mph in 10 seconds. That's a whole lot different than a car accelerates itself from 0 to 60mpg.

Re:I took part in a plane pull competition
They usually load the car down with weight (far over the vehicle's weight rating) to increase traction. When VW pulled a 747 with a Touareg, they doubled the tire pressure and loaded it with something like 4 tons of cement bags. There's a large amount of tolerance built into cars for dynamic loads (e.g. increase in forces the tires and suspension feels when you hit a pothole). So if you've got a slow, steady course which generates only static loads, you can pull some pretty impressive things with them.

Wealth inequality at the root of health inequality
AC wrote: "cheap loans and massive debt are the foundation of the inertia that is the US economy"
And the reason for that is because in the USA the gains for increased productivity have gone to shareholders instead of workers due to decades of flat real wages -- and then the shareholders loan the money to the workers to keep the economy going (until perhaps the house of cards collapses due to unrepayable debts). See Richard Wolff and "Capitalism Hits the Fan". https://youtu.be/0HTkEBIoxBA?t...
The real issue is the resulting wealth inequality, which affects not only healthcare but many other aspects of US American society: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
If the USA would reinstate overtime pay rules for *all* worker -- and further if workers could claim the same percent of productivity they got in the 1950s -- that would go a long way towards resolving the worst of wealth inequality.
