Basically you are refusing to state whether you do or do not think it's a crime if Trump staffers colluded with the Russians. IOW You think they did, are glad they did but don't want to admit it.

You sound like James Risen, who was in a debate with Greenwald who said about 15 times he wanted hard evidence for this conspiracy theory given the lies told in the past from the same people pushing Russiagate. Risen responded not with evidence, but haranguing Greenwald about what his personal beliefs were on Trump and Russia.

Like Greenwald, I'm an atheist and I don't have to believe anything. Belief is for religion - current events are matter of facts. So until Russian collusion is a proven fact, you may as well speculate what will happen if one of Trump's aids turns out to be a child molester or a cannibal. It's a free country, you can believe whatever you want, but it puts you in the same territory as people who speculate that the moon landings were faked or that Obama was born in Kenya.

The truth where Sanders can walk into a room full of Trump voters and have them cheering for free health care and higher education in a matter of minutes? He was a no-name senator from a tiny-assed state. Against the entire party establishment, against the biggest name in party politics, against the media, Bernie should have lasted as long as Jim Webb or Laurence Lessig in the primary and dropped out with 5% of the vote at most. Not by winning 23 states and 43% of the vote despite the election being rigged in favor of another candidate.

I've been posting about this here and on the Reg for about a month - the OP is "late to the story".
I did an experiment with two fresh machines (new MAC addrs) and found that it's not so biased one particular way as it is super-prone to the echo chamber effect.
(FWIW, I watch some of the milder "conservative" stuff now and then myself) Given an initial "hint" it will take you further down that path - either side of the current partisan madness. The really weird stuff- like the Nazis, we didn't test, but didn't see any (but some on the right would think Maxine Waters is about as stupid...). I thought the shoe-shop ray from Hitchhiker's guide had been cranked up and turned to "partisan" to destroy my planet.

Worse, in playing around trying to learn how this worked, we tried having our right-wing and tech aficionado channel check some left wing stuff. It then dumped the tech as it assumed we wanted "politics" and there's only so much room.

You just make it so that all AI must have kill-switches and are programmed to default to solving this thing such as the robot in the video does. So you just keep handing the rogue-AI-thing jumbled cubes to keep it busy until the kill-switch can be triggered.

If you haven't seen it yet, you owe yourself a viewing of the "Slaughterbots" video. I initially dismissed it as over-the-top Terminator style AI fear, but the more I think about it, there's very little in there that we can't already do. The biggest hurdles are battery life (flight time) and flight navigation (both of which we are rapidly improving), swarm networking/communication hardening, and miniaturization of sufficiently powerful processors.

We already have drones that small, some with sensors that are good enough. We already have facial recognition, and more than enough Facebook datamining to identify people. A 3g shaped charge is more than enough if we're talking military-grade explosive. Just last week, Skydio released a (fairly large) drone that follows you quite effectively.

I'm not so worried about fully-autonomous AI deciding to wipe us out - I'm much more worried that it's a very potent tool for some humans to wipe out other humans.

FreeBSD tends to be more supported and updated. The default ports, documentation, and Clang by default is pretty cool. Only downside is it's a PITA to configure for a desktop and Java is experimental. But it is great for a server with ZFS, dtrace, and jails.

His company has been aggressively working towards getting humans established on Mars as quickly as possible. When that happens, it would make perfect sense - and is probably essential - that those humans will be accompanied by advanced AI devices to help them stay alive... some of which will probably be robots.

Elon's worry is that, without regulation, those robots will decide to kill their human masters and - badabang, badaboom, we've given them their own planet. And once that happens, this nightmare scenario is inevitable - it's only a matter of time.

There have also been a couple of essential books published on these subjects: The Electric Sky offers a technical discussion for laypeople, whereas Anthony Peratt's Physics of the Plasma Universe can be used to understand some of the more technical details at a specialist science level. That said, it is also important to read Halton Arp's published work.

A couple of very good documentaries have also been created to try to convey these ideas -- like here and here.

Many of us who follow these matters also keep personal libraries of papers which relate to these subjects. These libraries involve literally thousands of scientific papers, but they are typically hidden behind paywalls. Which is a shame - because they're largely the last place of noteworthy power that baby boomers will hold in this world. This will be their legacy, more than most things.

That's incorrect. Not just journalists but principally scientists considered rocketry to be pseudoscience, for full 24 years, and with tragic consequences. US scientists in particular considered the idea ridiculous. German scientists did not.

The reason the NRA is targeted is not because they are responsible for the massive slaughters we've seen lately, but unlike the other groups you mention they actively oppose ANY EFFORT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. It is the approach of "settled science", where only the details are open to questioning, but the foundation is assumed to be sound and hence unquestionable.

One possibility is the one explored by Dr. Edward Dowdye, a laser optics engineer and former NASA physicist who argues the case for classical mechanics in attempting to explain observational quandaries that had hitherto remained the province of abstract theories like Einstein's Relativity.

Unfortunately, that scheme gave Amtrak certain monopoly legal control over all passenger rail service in the US and like any monopoly Amtrak got fat, dumb, and happy blocking all innovation and competition.

For cargo, however, the US maintained its older commercial competative arrangements. As a result, the natural tendency of market economics and money flowing to where it's most-efficiently used did its job and the result is that the US moves an absolutely astonishing amount of goods with an extremely reliable delivery schedule over its immense rail system with an amazing safety record and a relatively tiny workforce - and does it so well and reliably and efficiently that most people are not even aware it is happening. People who are interested and have some spare time to burn should educate themselves on the matter. Here's a couple of starting points: the Bailey Yard, the Bailey Yard 'hump' in action, the ever-increasing freight 'ton-miles' in the US system, and in case you think the Bailey yard is an isolated thing, consult wikipedia's List of rail yards and note how much of that list is within the US compared to so many countries whose rail systems are presumed superior simply because of a few fast passenger trains.
