Re:Since neither is getting elected
If only people realized that voting FOR someone you agree with is less of a waste than voting AGAINST someone you don't agree with. Voting 3rd party isn't a wasted vote if you are more in line with that party that the main 2.
I would like to agree with you, but I suggest you look up the phenomenon called the Spoiler Effect.
CGP Grey has very well-done 6.5-minute video about it here, which is also worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
In summary: A 3rd party candidate is statistically more likely to be closer in ideology to one of the two major parties.
If you have primary parties A and B, and C is the 3rd party, C is probably more like B than A (for this example). If you and I vote for C because we hate A and like C better than B, our votes didn't count for B. So instead of a vote being a 49% A and 51% B vote, it may well turn out 49% A, 41% B, and 10% C. Thus the party we least liked, A, is the winner.
As long as we have first-past-the-post, winner-take-all elections, it is one's rational self-interest to vote strategically against the party they least want to win, rather than for the party they most want to win. It took me some fifteen years to come to that realization, and it is still depressing. The only way C wins is if C can either pull enough votes from A and B, or draws all of B's votes. It could and has happened, but it's extraordinarily rare. Usually A or B will adopt the the strongest primary platform of C to keep those votes for themselves. -

Re:Europe has a simple solution
The regulations on these things are typically far too lax:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svyDtDRxdH0
Now compare how weak a lot of the side impact bars are. They'll stop a car in an adjacent lane from going under, but they won't stop a car going at high relative speed. The test above showed complete failure at 56km/h. The Tesla in question was going 120km/h.By all means, the US should adopt full under-run protection (front, side, back) and not just back like we have now; in particular following Japan and Volvo's lead pushing for stronger bars and mounts. However you are fooling yourself if you think the current EU regs would have made a difference in this case.

You being too lazy to care
Does not mean that full context does not exist. It simply means you are lazy. Do you need me to provide a LMGTFY link to "Donald Trump Full Speech 7/27" or can you do that much all by yourself? And just because it seems to be rocket science, change the goddamn date to what ever date you wish and you can find other speeches that he has made.
Since you are too lazy to perform a Google search I know damn well that you won't actually read, therefore here is a link so you can listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
No, I do not believe you actually will listen either. You may hear some noise but listening requires some level of motivation.

It's a ridiculous JOKE
The whole "Hyperloop" thing is a ridiculous joke that will never, EVER be built.
It has so many technical problems and downsides that it's not possible for me to state them here succinctly, but for a complete takedown of this bullshit pie-in-the-sky idea, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
"All the problems of deep space travel, bought down to the surface of the planet, such that you can travel about the speed of a bullet within a couple of cm of a gun barrel.
Sadly almost no one in the main stream media assessed this stuff critically from a scientific/ engineering point of view. They just took them at their word when they said they could construct the completely untested large scale hyperloop for 1/10th the cost of a regular high speed rail connection. They took them at their word when they said it would only cost 20 bux, and take on 25 minutes.
In reality the engineering problems are probably insurmountable. It would be like proposing a floating roadway across the Mediterranean or something."
The whole thing is utterly ridiculous, and shame on the engineering people who failed to do even the most cursory examination of this impossible "project".

What a coincidence!

Maybe you've got a good reason. Maybe you don't. But none of those matter. It's about how you _feel_. But hey, don't take my word for it. Listen to John Oliver. -

Hades 2026
Last Week Tonight Winter Olympics 2022
The ending here is not one of his best, but the two bits with Brian Williams are priceless. The other good bit: 7000 pages of host-nation demands.
Apart from the women's hockey finals, I can hardly recall the last minute of Olympic coverage I've watched in ten years, just because I hate IOC with the burning intensity of a thousand suns.
You might think I'm exaggerating, but consider that it's only one sun per seven pages of arrogance from geriatric gargoyles that even the French don't want.
-
Re:Rhetorical...
I would try going the opposite way: have everybody tweet something about the Olympics. Let the IOC go bananas trying to identify and sue a billion or more people all over the world who use a medium that is largely anonymous.
FTS:
Specifically any company that tweets about the Olympic Games and isn't a sponsor.
So you as an individual aren't barred from tweeting about the Olympics, but if you tweet on behalf of "Applehu Akbar's Cereal", then they'll go after you.
-
Re:No chinese products for me, thanks
-
Re:U.S.A. only?
The law? That's for mere peons. The IOC believes they are aristocracy, and that if they took a collective shit in the Olympic rowing venue it would cleanse the water and make it smell like roses, because like Caroline, they "like to think their shit don't stink".

Democratic Party lying?
A video edit comparing what Hillary Clinton claimed to what James Comey claimed after the FBI investigation highlights the distance between the two quite well and puts a fine point on the part where Comey says that if this had been anyone else who did what she did they might not get the same cushy response from the FBI she got.
And keep in mind that the US has very unclean hands here, according to Edward Snowden, former NSA contractor who would know what tools the NSA has available to look into this.
But of course the veracity of the documents leads us to the real story. Nobody claims the DNC emails were faked, just like nobody said the Snowden revelations were untrue. This helps us focus on what those documents show: Bernie Sanders was not lying to us when he said, "I told you a long time ago that theâ"that the DNC was not running a fair operation, that they were supporting Secretary Clinton.", and that he requests far too weak of a solution to remedy the problem (getting rid of Debbie Wasserman Schultz as chair of the DNC). And the emails show us that the DNC were telling amenable media outlets (such as NBC, if I recall correctly) which stories to not publish because they made someone they cared about look bad. Julian Assange's interview on Democracy Now is worth reading, it's quite revealing about how nasty the Clinton campaign is, sourcing the unnamed "experts" who told Robby Mook, Clinton campaign manager, that "Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails" and "are releasing these emails for the purpose of actually helping Donald Trump".

I've never seen any other brand do that.Sure it's a great match with a daskeyboard but it's not really supposed to be.

Re: Uhh... Why 8k video?
You might want to tell the movies that were scanned to 8k from film (search for 8K) that they don't exist, as well as this mainstream movie that's being filmed in 8K. Or this company that the videos they record on their cameras don't exist. Hell, Youtube has an 8K video already.
8K video availability is very limited, but not no-existant. 8K displays have been shown at CES since 2012. 8K broadcasts were tested during the 2012 Olympics. But even without commonly available video for mortals, 8K video isn't the only thing that you can display with a video card that can display 8K. You can drive four 4K displays, which is an amazing coincidence that these cards have 4 ports for output!

Apple is a software company
Apple also makes software. That makes them a Software Company? But I haven't paid for a iOS or Mac OS upgrade in years.
What's your point? I haven't paid for a Windows upgrade in the last 15 years either but that doesn't mean Microsoft isn't a software company. Don't take my word for it, Steve Jobs himself said it and he's right. Apple completely outsourced their hardware manufacturing. All of it aside from some industrial design. You don't outsource the stuff that makes you money. They did not outsource ANY of their software. People pay a premium for Apple software, ergo they are a software company. The hardware is just the pretty box they sell their software in. They effectively sell their hardware at cost or for a minor profit and the markup you pay is for the software on it. If you tried to sell a Mac with just Windows on it, hardly anyone would pay a premium for that. We know they cannot sell their hardware for huge markups because it isn't really much different from their competitors products. Hell Apple sued and admitted in court that Samsung's products were basically almost indistinguishable knockoffs. Why would people consistently pay more for an identical product? Brand has some value but no brand will get you from 10% net margins to 25% net margins for decades at a time.
Almost without exception the software on my phone and Mac is free: Xcode, GarageBand, iMovie, iDVD, iTunes, Maps, etc.
It's not free at all. You pay for it every time you buy a piece of Apple hardware. Just because the cost is rolled in with other expenses doesn't make it free. I'm an accountant and when I quote products I roll cost together like this all the time. Apple's sales strategy is symbiotic with their hardware sales but make no mistake that absolutely none of that stuff is actually free.
