Re: The Republicans want to make everyone work
As a successful immigrant myself, this is _exactly_ my sentiment. Fuck that commie shit with a broomstick.
Dude, never go full Nelson
I now pay four times in taxes alone compared to what I made here in the first year. It took me 15 years and a lot of hard work and perseverance to get to this point. Now some communist comes out of the woodwork and says I need to "share". But dude, I already "share". Even with my great accountant doing my taxes, Uncle Sam takes fully 29% of what I make, with nearly zero accountability for how this money is being spent.
Uh huh. And you're ok with a trust fund wanker making 100 times what you do while doing no work to speak of, because the wanker's last name is Walton or Clinton?

Re:So,do we know the physical limits on the Q mile
There are such things as jet cars than don't depend on wheel grip. You can reach 5 seconds with just one engine. Now if you don't care about dying, you can strap an SRB to your back and go even faster. And if you really, really don't care, you can use explosives in place of rocket fuel.

Re:Man, animation must _really_ be evil then.
dude that is an amazing camera shot. holy cow.
CGI lets you create camera moves which are not possible in real life, in the sense that even if there was a fantasy/sci-fi/action/whatever thing going on, there's nowhere that you could physically place a camera which would get that shot.
Easy to avoid. But also easy to do with real cameras too. Star Wars shot all of its sci-fi stuff as a miniature. You can make a camera on a motion-controlled miniature rig however you want as well. We're also always tearing down the limitations of what's an "impossible" shot in the real world. All of the great directors have been hunting for a unique shot that nobody else could pull off. You have the zoom-dolly aka hitchcock effect that's non-physical. You have wire cams these days for flying at high speed through trees. Some people build out entire rigs around a car so that the camera can placed on a gimbal almost anywhere outside a vehicle. There have been "process trailers" for ages where entire film crews ride around on a trailer with a car on blocks filming handheld in through the window. Gimbals make nearly impossible shots look smooth. Steadicam completely changed what "A real camera can do" by adding long smooth takes up stairs etc. Even take a look at the famous long shot from Soy Cuba in 1964:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...That's an "impossible" camera. The Matrix they even tried to launch the camera famously on rockets to achieve bullet time. With smaller go-pros it just might be possible today!

I watched the Transformer movies. They never kept the "camera" on any one Transformer for longer than a second so you wouldn't spot the CGI. I couldn't tell you what Optimus Prime looked like because he was always just a blur the "camera" was quickly panning over.

Re:Unfettered capitalism
You're referring to anarchy the state (as in no government), not anarchy as a form of government focusing on the economic system. There are actually anarchy forms of government such as anarcho-syndicalism, individualist anarchism, and platformism. Anarchism in this sense refers to the government, but the economic system runs by other rules. Think of it this way - if you and your neighbors all agree to where each one lives and what laws to live by and even who polices those laws, do you need a government? The people are the government. It is really extreme Libertarianism. A true democracy could run in an anarchic state. Furthermore, a true "individualist anarchy" may not give a shit if you shoot your neighbor, but a platformist would, so anarchy in this sense does not necessarily mean society without any rules.
I like to use the Monty Python and the Holy Grail example of the "anarcho-syndicalist commune." That one has the workers organized into syndicates (unions, basically) by industry and the "government" exists to ensure private ownership of land. They reject the "worker-state" (government-economic) idea of communism, saying that tying those two together leads to corruption (and frankly, I agree with them on that point). Put another way, if the farm syndicate ruled the government, would not the farm syndicate try to make everything as favorable to farmers as possible? They would be fools not to, but in doing so prove that power corrupts.

Re:No Thanks
Disclaimer: I am NOT a republican and I DO NOT support Trump even the slightest bit.
Perhaps the problem is that you're trying to justify what amounts to laziness and apathy with what you think sounds like informed cynicism, but what to others sounds like playground-level petulance. When you boil it down, what you're really saying is a Cartmanesque "Screw you guys, I'm going home."
There's wisdom in that. The political discourse in this country is really stupid, and it seems to mostly come from the left, but the right does it a little bit as well. For perfect case in point, why the FUCK would you protest a gathering of a political party? That is to say, what exactly are you protesting? Their right to peacefully assemble? Their right to speak their minds? I must be missing something huge because I really have no idea what is wrong with either of those things. I highly value free speech, and free speech means people can say things that you don't like. And to further that, why is it that if somebody says something that the left doesn't like, they almost immediately have to label it as racist, misogynistic, or otherwise hateful against a particular group when it practically never does any of the above? I keep hearing the word "racist" get thrown about Trump, however I've yet to hear anything from him that is definable as racist. So he wants to have tighter controls against illegal immigration, mainly directed at Mexico...umm...Mexico isn't a race.
It's not so much a "screw you guys, I'm going home" moment, it's more of one of these moments:

Re:Yes but no.
Though
... there could be a correlation. CGI effects are cheap, plentiful and ultimately disposable. Didn't like a shot? Just tweak a few setting and re-render. Try it 10 more times. Did an actor screw up? Just fix it in post.Conversely, something like Mad Max: Fury Road, Alien, or Nightmare Before Christmas all require meticulous planning, careful coordination and the utmost dedication to each and every take. Things are literally blowing up, there's tangible blood splashing across the actors faces, and every scene in a stop-motion movie is hours and hours of tiny movements that can't be easily reshot.
I've heard Ben Browder (Farscape) claim the exact opposite of what you're saying (I think it was inthis video ). Basically he said (paraphrasing):
- CG is very expensive
- consequently the whole dialog is heavily scripted in advance, to the point where the actors come in, stand in their assigned spots (to match the CG), do a few takes to say their lines, and leave
- this kills any improvisation, and gives actors little room to put more into the performance
- so the end result looks very slick, but is lacking "soul". It feels scripted because it is. -
Re:A Good Thing?
It really doesn't help that any time you criticize the story, you are so often met with the following classic comment: "Oh, shut up, it's just a movie. I enjoyed it."
No, that movie had a shit story which was riddled with plot holes, both of which you failed to become aware of because the filmmakers were shaking rattles and dangling shiny things in front of you.Obligatory Harry Plinkett review and filmmaking 101 class:

Their just rewards
These were the lunatics who voted for Obama despite all the warnings that the basic laws of economics meant the rest of their lives would be made miserable by it.
Obama racked up more national debt than all presidents before him COMBINED, and millenials cheered and hashtagged support for him as he did it. Debts must be repaid, and millenials will be paying interest of Obama's debt for the rest of their lives.
The people who deserve the sympathy are the minority of millenials who did not support Obama, but will be saddled by all that debt anyway.
Oh, and for the morons who never pay attention to facts: Obama's debts do NOT include the debts racked-up by Bush during the meltdown - Obama and the bookkeeping blame those on Bush who left Obama with a national debt of between 9 and 10 trillion depending on the exact accounting. Obama will leave Trump or Clinton about $20,000,000,000,000 of debt. Obama campaigned against Bush's record in 2008 saying that Bush's adding $4 trillion to the debt was "irresponsible and unpatriotic" and in the process made all his current supporters who claim Obama is being Blamed for Bush's debts into liars - Bush was blamed for Bush's debts during the 2008 campaign while they were already being accounted for and would continue to be accounted for as Bush debts until Obama took over. Bush is to blame for the debts racked up BEFORE Obama took over, not for the $10 trillion added by Obama.
One other inconvenient fact: in 2007 (the year before the meltdown) then-Senator Barack Obama and then-Senator Hillary Clinton both voted with all other senate Democrats (who controlled the senate) to not allow the Bush administration to do anything to prevent the reckless financial activities at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the two deceptively-named federal government home loan quasi-companies). A year later these entities (which have no legal government guarantees, but which were telling everybody they DID have a taxpayer-provided "safety net") were ground-zero of the meltdown. Obama and hillary both had a chance to vote on the meltdown and they both effectively voted to allow it. Bush had no legal authority to stop it and was blocked from getting the authority by Obama, Hillary and the other Democrats in the Senate. These are very inconvenient facts. You can look up the legislation at thomas.gov the open-government portal that Newt Gingrich created for congressional activity when he was Speaker of the House (so much for the lie that Republicans are technophobes).

Why?
Since about 2004, I've at least 4 times searched for PostgreSQL vs MySQL. Each time PostgreSQL came ahead in most areas, including referential integrity, fewer gotcha's in the use of NOT NULL and other SQL features.
I've worked with both, and find PostgreSQL easier to setup, manage, and to query.
Have a look at:

MySQL vs PostgreSQL - Why you shouldn't use MySQL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...Best to think about what is important in YOUR project given YOUR situation, and do YOUR own search. Note that the pros & cons forever change!
What is applicable in one situation, may not apply to another. However, I would expect PostgreSQL to be the better choice in most situations.
