Aimee Deep Interview

LawGeek writes "Aimee Deep is probably most famously known as the highly attractive cover-girl of Madster (formerly known as Aimster). Since being involved with Madster (her father's business), she has had the opportunity to become more interested in legal and business issues surrounding the music distribution business and now blogs on the subject. Greplaw editor Mikael Pawlo recently interviewed the 18-year old Ms. Deep on various topics."

Just look at what Ansel Adams did. His stuff is stunningly beautiful and he didn't do a single thing that mainstream photographers of the day did.

      Now, back on topic!

She didn't quite answer some of the questions in the interview, so to me, she comes off as a bit ditzy. She didn't answer the question about Lessig at all! I could be completely wrong, but based solely on that interview, it doesn't seem like she really understands some of the stuff that she was talking about. Of course, she IS still in high school, so her comprehension seems to be quite a bit above average for her age group. I think that I'll read some of her writings when I get some free time. Its just plain wrong that all of their accomplishments will only subject them to comparison with a stupid girl like Aimee Deep, "yes, maybe she can programme, but how does she look in a bikini."

For crissakes, we train as programmers, airplane pilots, engineers so that our work can be objectively judged on its merits, not on the exposure of our breasts! If we wanted to be judged on our breasts, we would have gone into fields where there are no objective measures beyond "36-24-36".

Touting a stupid girl like Aimee Deep as a "geek girl" creates a situation where women who are highly trained, highly educated, and have decades of technical experience-- get lumped in with the stupid little girls in the line-up. In the spirit of respectful debate, allow me to offer a different perspective. We may have to agree to disagree, which is fine.

First of all, the topic isn't what you want in a personal relationship. The topic is to what extent a female scientist, engineer, software developer, artist, musician -- professions in which there is a tangible, concrete product to design, create and deliver -- can or should be "using their bodies" to "get ahead".

What does it say about the quality of the product and the intelligence and integrity of the people behind it when your highly experienced, highly trained technical consultant has to literally get her dress up over her head in order to close the sale? " Wow man, that is just soooo lame!" in the parlance of our little friend Aimee. "Simply unprofessional," is how an adult might put it.

If your only criteria for success is how far ahead a person gets or next month's bottom line, then sure, why shouldn't she hand out BJs with the RFCs, RFPs and SLAs. OTOH, if your criterion for success is to build a solid reputation for your profession, for your firm, and for yourself, then what looks "ridiculous" are the cheap and sleazy tactics your competitors will stoop to.

So, while I agree with you that being well-presented or even stunningly beautiful is a terrific asset, being cheap and sleazy is not.

Ask yourself: do you respect aimster/madster more or less for the founder's putting his underaged daughter in a bikini up on his company's website? Sure, it may attract attention in the consumer market, and they may get some short-term mileage out of it.

However, if you were a CIO or one of the Joint Cheifs, would you commission the company behind it --Johnny Deep's -- to develop a military comms system or a corporate procurement system based on the underlying technology they developed with aimster? Would you want miss Aimee directing the project? Hmmm? Probably not.

The technology is there, but Aimee doesn't really understand it. And what's a girl with her level of personal and professional integrity going to do with your classified or proprietary system if someone offers her money for it? What will her price be, if all's it takes is a bit of attention on the internet to get her to take off her clothes? Look at her goals and values. She said it herself: "it's all about ME" Completely self-centered. It's how she was raised, and who raised her.

Look at the quality of aimster's business relationships, and relationships with its employees. In the toilet! Don't you think that has something to do with the kind of people running the company? You know, the same kind of people that would put a picture of their own teenage daughter half-naked up on their website to promote their product.

She can choose to go along with it, or she can choose not to. I would have a lot more respect for her if she at least understood the technology behind aimster's products (she dodged a question about that in the interview). But you,

And the "using her body" bit that you suggest -- let's see if I can find something positive in it. HIV positive, maybe.

On balance, it's unhealthful, it's deplorable and it's unprofessional. Any female scientist, engineer, software developer, artist, mathematician, musician who feels she has to do things like that to "get ahead" is truly, truly pathetic. HA HA! Man, she can't be 18, she's got to be some sort of paid spokersperson. She might as well be a pornstar and call her Aimee Deep(throat).

Wish I could figure out who you are, then...

You had friends across the hall from me this year. You never stopped to say hello

Dude, I just finished my senior year. I have friends all over campus, ranging from freshman to super-duper-seniors. You're going to have to be a bit more specific...

Er, anyway, you definitely are not fat. (Based not on the pictures...

    Never said I was. I'm just larger-than-average. :)

Oh, and how's Dark Cloud going? I still think the sequel is far better...

I haven't played Dark Cloud much since last summer. Haven't had time, with MQP and trying to graduate, and all. Haven't seen the sequel, though people speak highly of it. (relatively, anyway)

My curiosity has gotten the better of me. Someone at WPI.. most likely male (duh, at WPI)... have spoken to him about female body-image issues, and has seen me play/spoken to me about Dark Cloud... Who are you???!! If you don't want to give up your identity, you could always email me.

I don't really care - I doubt anyone else will read this thread anyway :) Anyway, now that my computer boots again...

Yeah, I'm someone at WPI - I doubt my name'll help much - Dan Potter. I think you were playing Dark Cloud in Founders 315 or whatever (across from 312, where I was for C and D term this year). I don't have any pictures of myself (right now), and am too lazy to search for one (that doesn't look horrible).

I don't remember everyone that was there, but several people were there end of D-term 2001, and somehow the topic of body image came up. Started at the pool tables, and moved to the fountain, if that helps.

Then I wound up taking a year off (2002, actually - not enough money), and was back this year to see you play Dark Cloud :). Hopefully I'll be graduating 2004, assuming everything goes well.

Hope that helps - if not, I'll get around to finding a picture or something...

      I'm just larger-than-average.

I doubt that... if anything, I'd say average - I dunno, though (not having taken an exaustive survey or anything...)
