Really?
I didn't notice that, what with all the hassles of making sure games are compatable with my Television, and then making sure I have the right addons for aformentioned game, oh and also making sure that I download the latest patches so I don't get stuck at area X.
Oh crap, I don't have enough hard drive space left to save.
Mmmmmmm... Familiarity DOES sell well, I suppose...
What really irks me about the software industry, especially games, is this. Why do pirates get the better copies of games, which have NO CD checks, no "Hey I think you mightn't have brought this game, GO AWAY" bullshit, and NO problems playing online amongst themselves. The legitimate users, hopefully, get a slightly larger base of people to play multiplayer with. I mean, whats the real benefit? Its GOOD when gaming companies take a leap of faith and at most leave in the basic CD Check and CD Key. That means they're willing to trust their fanbase and people who may well like the game. Oblivion is a great example. It sold well, it was a decent game (not amazing, just decent), and it had minimal copy protection.
Basically, what I'm getting at is this. Pirates get their games for free, and they're of a higher quality. Consumers get shat on, and have to hand over their cash. Now, what I'd like to know, is why the fuck they think that making people who brought generic game X suffer through a whole bunch of crap to play their game which they're not even that happy with, while pirates get to play the game just fine and can decide "Hey, it wasn't worth paying for" and just delete it.
Firstly. GAME.
Secondly. They're PICTURES. Out of place pictures (honestly, how many times do you go to a arabian place to fight terrorism and see a big freakin' Intel Core 2 Duo advertisement on a random ass piece of wall which serves no purpose and looks out of place) which are giving Valve a bit of money on the side. Good on em. Also, he forgot the whole "ADS CS!" "CS GAY!" etc. shit.
Your a bit free with your anger. Maybe you should seek medical help? I'm pretty sure you can get help for that, probably free too. All well, maybe next time you'll consider what your letting free into this world.
Hey man, are you dissing my lawn mower? I WONT TAKE THAT KIND OF INSULT! FIRE THE OVERHEATED 360'S!
*I'm actually a happy 360 Owner, thus this isn't flamebait. Anyone who doesn't belive me can kick my ass at Gears of War.*
dont forget, its actually possible to completely replace the UMD drive with say a CF or SD Reader. Cheap storage is doable for anyone who can wield a soldering iron or knows someone who can.
Ahk, tis a shame I cannot mod since I've already posted here, or I'd give you +1 Intresting:D Why use AC though? Such a good arguement should be heard:-\
on your oblivion point, IT DOES have incredibly smart game AI. its just the sheer number to preformance ratio means they have to be stupid. On a good computer (cant remember the specs) they setup 2 NPCs and tasked 1 to rake the lawn and another to clip the hedges.
They did so, then, they swapped the items needed so the clipping person had a rake and the raking person had clippers. The raker ended killing the clipper for the rake.
Another example of Oblivion's AI is in a test, before you could make it to a quest guy who sold Skooma (a drug), the Skooma Addicts already killed him, ruining the game plot by not allowing you to progress.
seem dumb to you? Oh yeah, I'm not sure if the second example is actually what happened in game with AI beefed up or just in a section with few NPCs.
Or it could just be it does SSE in 2 steps instaid of 1, doing it half and half, whereas the Core 2 does it all in one go, obviously leading to better preformance. AFAIK (dont quote me on this) the Core 2 shares the Cache btw.
Yep. Your more or less right. You know what the problem is? Legally AMD and Intel have to share their technologys AFAIK, some anti-trust case a while ago or somthing. Anyway, basically what happens (and what DID happen) is AMD comes out with somethings new, ALA the x64 extention of x86, and Intel decides they need it. They slap together their own one based on it, and bam. Done. Crap all work for Intel compared to AMD. They profit off AMD's work really. Although AMD did license x86 off Intel, but nevertheless, the market will constantly Yo-Yo between these two untill AMD gets the balls to start selling a new Architecture. Preferably get some steam for it going ALA server market, then roll it out in Businesses untill finally they can roll it out for home users. That way Intel cant do anything but License it off AMD if it takes off. The only thing we really need to do to ensure this plan will work is to kill all the Intel fanboys and gamers. Get yer' shotguns!
How could it possibly eradicate humanity? WINDOWS. God, they'd have to put it into some kind of decent *NIX OS, using a VM, just for the damn thing to be able to run!
Translation "This crap is useless! I DONT WANT IT!"
But infact, it is FAR from useless. Imagine, if you will, your SATA CD ROM Drive fails. What are you going to do? You cant just grab a old CD Drive and slap it in untill a new one arrives, so your kinda screwed there. And dont forget that you can grab a old drive (I've got a 40gb samsung in mine) and chuck everything you want to keep on that, meaning after a fresh install you can have all your required software up and running within 10 minutes. Sounds a bit more convenient than fishing out a disc..
Epic is completely destroying them, as is Valve, with Duke Nukem Forever and Team Fortress 2. Although Epic may just be lying to try and generate hype.... Who knows. All I know is that Vista's delays pale in comparison to Prey, Team Fortress 2 and Duke Nukem Forever.
Its true. Go buy a Xbox control, then re-wire it to USB and get the XBCD Controller Drivers and try play Halo or now Halo 2 online. See how much you "own". I know this firsthand;-)
You ruined my SENSE of funny, you insensitive clod!

Well gosh darn it. Good ol' Logic, in use eh? Have you ever considered maybe its a standard feature? You know, the the damn bit you put those little things with the shiny on one side and the pictures on the other side? What was that? YOU DONT WANT ONE OF THOSE EITHER? well, it seems your only option is to scream "DAMN THE ANTI-CONSUMER FRIENDLY MANAFACTURERS!"
This is actually no longer so, with distribution methods like Direct 2 Drive, Steam and countless others, its almost completely possible to bypass retail shops completely.
I wouldn't think so. Mac OS X is unix based, and so more or less, you can use this, "Hey, you more or less already know how to use it, but you wont EVER need to buy a new machine for the newest version AND you never need to pay for the newest version! (Ala Tiger to Leopard (AFAIK, flame me and stab me and etc. if I'm misinformed))". Now, isn't half the reason you cant get them from Windows to Linux BECAUSE they dont understand what the hells going on?
No. It doesn't circumvent it. It delays it. Thats like saying that running from a bullet is going to stop you getting shot. The bullet travels well over 700FPS, I doubt you could out run it, maybe just last a little longer.
No. there is a active X control that checks for a file or registry control VIA WGA. if it cant FIND WGA, it says "Would you like WGA? You need it to install this, you know!", if it finds it, whatever WGA discovered is reported and then its more or less "Your copy may be stolen! Oh No!" or "Have a nice day."
sony owns Sony Online Entertainment. Heard of em? I'm *PRETTY* sure they may have made these games...... cant remember the names, pretty popular though..... OH YEAH! Everquest 1 and 2! silly me!

nonono, its where the Dev's throw chairs. Ironically, its also almost ALWAYS broken somehow.

You KNOW that the moderator system is failing when things like the parent get moderated Insightful.
It uses a few optimisations, but they're not game specific. Mainly its all just preference, but the general tip is to use Frameskip 2 or 3.
