Last time I checked the majority of the drivers I install on Windows come back as 'unsigned' with a big ugly warning message.
Unsupported drivers is not a good excuse, WORKING drivers is what matters.
Unsigned != unsupported != non-working...
Laptops are one thing since you cannot build them yourself, but even so, they do not come in cheaper.
What about whitebox laptops? I've seen a number of mags, MaximumPC among them, suggest this alternative to get the EXACT laptop you'd like....
Why not make an article about weird moments that weren't intentionally oddball?
Depends on how you define "oddball"... I can remember finding that "invisible dot" in the Atari 2600 Adventure game and thinking "WTH?!?"
Democracy hasn't seemed to work all that well lately, at least in a two party system.
What country do you live in. Here in the USA we have a Republic.
Call me crazy {'cause I am...} but I'd always thought America was a "democratic republic"...
What you guys are arguing isn't really proper spelling but spelling of the localization.
Who's arguing? I'm just pointing out there's more than just ONE way to spell it...
IT'S BOGEYMAN! Sheesh, why do people get that wrong?!! Even Wikipedia gets it right.
So try the dictionary next time. Per Merriam-Webster, spelling it as boogeyman is allowed... Just not "boogieman".
Looking at the links for Texas, it appears that the two bills in question, SB 446 and HB 1794 are not "defeated", but instead just pending in committee. I'm not naïve enough to believe they couldn't be left there, but they've *not* been voted down explicitly yet...
The second finger is not the index finger (unless it is indicating displeasure like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin) and the fourth is not the ring finger but the pinkie.
Depends if you're counting it by metacarpal bones. The numbering starts at 1, on the thumb, and the 5th is the pinky.... or that's what they teach in medical schools, anyway...
The scurrilious pig-dogs using open-source are not their customer -> they do not need to be listened to.
Actually, I was thinking about their track record with DRM... Just *which* customer *asked* to be treated as a criminal by default?!?
People are quite feeble, much more than you might think. Just because someone has the ability to kill doesn't mean they'll make usage of it. Unfortunately this is fact, otherwise things would be just like Hollywood movies or video games.
Here, let me correct that for you:
People CAN be quite feeble, much fewer than I think. Just because people have the ability to kill doesn't mean they'll choose to make use of it. However, this is my opinion, which means things would be just like I expect them to be.
I'm 130 lbs, 6 tall, and have won fights with guys twice my mass, especially if I'm fighting for something important {and it usually HAS to be if I'm fighting} and I LOVE when they mistake me for "feeble". Honestly, if you want the Sheeple to stop being wusses, then lead by example. It works.
It never ceases to amaze me; it seems that many of the most vocal critics never seem to want to pitch in as much as they think WE should.
It's possible the whole situation would of been exacerbated for many reasons, including now you have two (or more) people in a building under extreme amounts of duress with the means to kill other people.
Correction: You had LOTS of people in that building able to kill people. The problem was that none of them realized it. Don't assume that a firearm is the only way to kill another human.
If the Internet doesn't exist to host Harry Potter slash fanfic, then what the hell is it for?
According to my fiance, it's for hosting semi-obscene Duran Duran fanfic.
Regardless, they did really good considering they only raise $16,000 for the race.
Uh, considering the cost of the car [even just the TIRES] - plus the fact that their goal was $250,000 - and I'm not sure what they accomplished other than a bit of publicity. This being many of the Indy 500's viewers first time even HEARING the word Linux, I'm not it was GOOD publicity...
"Hey, Bubba... I guess that thar Linux crashes worse than Windows does!"
Don't get me wrong, folks, I love open-source...I'm just suggesting that maybe, just maybe, they should've taken their time with the Indy project and entered next year when they were ready.
If each isle is 30 meters long, and each shelf is 27 inches high how many bags of starch can the grocer fit in the Cereal isle? How many bags of starch can the man fit in his grocery cart? For extra credit, calculate the time it will take the man to return the bags of starch when his wife sees him unload them in the garage.
Data insufficient. State dimensions of starch bag, and number of shelves per meter.
I refuse to drink bottled water, probably 'cause I'm annoyed they're selling a life-critical resource at a ridiculous profit margin. "Designer Water", f'r cryin' out loud?!?
Well said. I'd like to touch on something you said:
Every time I bring this up, I just get a bunch of regurgitated facts about how religious people have done bad things, which doesn't even begin to address my points.
Exactly. As you pointed out earlier, you could insert almost ANY subset of the human race in lieu of "religious people". I believe the problem lies here: Humans are so busy concentrating on, excessively focusing on, and mistakenly acting upon our various personal/social/dogmatic/life-choice differences, we've stopped looking at our far-more-numerous and important similarities.
My personal policy is simple, and simply paraphrases the "your right to throw a punch ends at my nose" meme. I'm no more threatened by an athiest or their beliefs than I would be by a Muslim, Hindu, or Mormon. I think Kevin Smith {through Serendipity} said it nicely in Dogma: "It doesn't matter WHAT you have faith in, just as long as you HAVE faith..."
One thing I can guarantee you as a military brat: All over the world, even right now, someone's going to wake up and go about their day trying to live as they best can, just like where you live. Whether they want to wear a burka, a yarmulke, or a tu-tu, swim fins, and a snorkel is irrelevant. What their intentions are for themselves and those around them is not. Folks, if humanity wants to survive, we've got to stop arguing over petty differences to be able to save us from us.
Why does accommodating religious fanatics nearly always harm society?
Fixed with a reminder: Allowing someone to practice their beliefs is good. Insisting everyone switch to yours is not.
One problem... he's already been examined... hence his [Jack Thompson] claim that he "is the only certified sane lawyer". ....which of course, leads to the question: Who examined the shrink that examined Thompson?!?
I dunno... I just sent a letter earlier today, and it didn't seem that the USPS had taken the day off...
most people are flat out choosing to use email...
There, fixed that first part for ya...
Unsigned != unsupported != non-working...
The longer you've been around/associated with the military, the funnier it gets... 'cause it's true.
What about whitebox laptops? I've seen a number of mags, MaximumPC among them, suggest this alternative to get the EXACT laptop you'd like....

"Bullshit" has a nice finality about it, and as bulls digest like the rest of us animals it seems to fit...
It kind of underscores a trend I think I've seen worsening over the last 30 years...
Rather than looking at each other and considering how something might be done/viewed differently, people instead insist their way is the *only* way.Who's arguing? I'm just pointing out there's more than just ONE way to spell it...

Big difference between "listening" and "hearing"....
