It was a very secure system far ahead of Microsoft. The problem was the IBM marketing department and the rush to beat Microsoft to market. In its day it was the underlying O/S for many ATM networks do to its security and journaling disc system. You could literly remove power and when the system came back up it would continue with the task it was working before power down.
A lot of time it's about the person and how well they'll fit in with the current team. Ability is important but the ability to get along with the team in place is sometimes more important. Skills can be learned
Face it he's a rapist in that cant leave an embassy do to the possibility of being extradited to face charges. Secondly he's not even a US citizen, he is however a threat to US national security. I put him in the same league as Putin, an outsider that wants to see the US crumble
Love the full rich sound that digital doesn't provide. if I need to take Music on the road with me I either record to mp3 or I still have a tape deck Streaming sounds like garbage and ruins the experience
You are out with your significant other and have a sitter at home watching your precious clones and an emergency pops up and you need to be contacted. What then? will they stop the show and broadcast an announcement for the parents of child xxyy?
This person was "known" to the FBI and Local authorities He was known to have been sympathetic to ISIS by the FBI He had been brought up on charges of domestic abuse. He was known to be unstable. There is no reason he should have been able to get a license to carry let alone, have been able to purchase a weapon. The problem is that he could have been flagged as a person that should not be able legally to purchase weapons or ammo. We have a national registry for firearms we just don't use it correctly That being said the black market would be the place he would turn to, to make a purchase. In this case the seller of the weapon should be held accountable for actions taken with said weapon
Why is it a matter of assigning risk? Why isn't it just part of "Best Practices"? We demand no less from our financial institutions(not that they always follow through)
Having worked in an industry that monitored critical infrastructure equipment, we used to keep these behind firewalls in an RFC 1918 space. The reason why they are connected is that these SNMP and Modbus devices are passively monitored for accuracy, trouble issues, power usage and capacity, But lately there has been an increase in active configuration through derived equations to shed loads , remotely start and stop generators, HVAC systems, etc... Not having them password protected is an epic fail
I wonder how many of those 11,000 unique visits were accidental or a product of phishing(goatse.cx) Now granted I think this is deplorable and disgusting (think of the Children!) But I think they need to really scrutinize the data that they have so that innocent mistakes/typos/bad linkage are not falsely accused
Soldered a rather large capacitor on the power side of an amplifier on a circuit board and reversed the polarity accidently. Plugged it in and hit power. Destroyed the rest of the components around it and stunk up the house for a week
In an IT address to a middle eastern country a person asked will we ever achieve greatness. Women on one side and shielded from the men The response was a blistering observation of segregation and second class citizenship of women in their society "not if you only use 50% of your workforce". http://www.citizenwarrior.com/... Personally being an male I would rather work women. My findings across multiple disciplines, is that they bring a fresh perspective to an already male overburdened workforce. Its these types of attitudes that drive feminism just my penny's worth
I think this is a bad idea. When you oppress ideas you drive those ideas underground where they will fester over time. At least out in the open there is an ability to debate and possibly change a destructive mindset.
There are musicians that would love to have this type of platform. Oh wait they do. Freshjamradio.com does with the consent of the owners of the music. The old Model just doesn't work any longer.
I often wonder if some of these high tech companies have considered leaving the U.S in light of these types of campaigns. Moving to a more friendly country that would ensure the sanctity of the company from these types of intrusions?
people wanting out of a relationship with no loss of money will start using this to claim the partner was cheating
You want the company that provides funding to part ways with your organization?
At what point when funding goes away does the org cease to exist?

Would be if the messaging app that had it yanked down used his code and that was rendered unusable now

Its not a bout giving up freedoms - its about power companies being lazy and not password protecting their equipment

Though that maybe true, there are some that end up there for reasons other than child exploitation.

So the cop asks you to break the law?
I guess that makes perfect sense in this day and age

Windows 8 Pro caused me to heed my daughters advice and switch to MAC. Now that I have I will never go back to a Microsoft based OS if I can help it.
