Except that Firefox makes me go through a couple menues to add a site the allow list before it allows me to install an extention from that sit. I then have to click the install button. activeX seems to want to run automaticaly, and if not that, give you the propt and allows it from any site.
Guess you didn't get the memo... The only single player in this game is when you ignore the rest of the people around you and go off on your own. The entire game is online. The server loads are probobly masive. It doesn't seem to use much bandwith, a few K per client.
How do you plan on tieing the graduating record to the enroling record without a unique number. I guess they could come up with some other number and make the schools track that, but SSN would probobly work just as well.
My guess is that the Xbox live is funded by people buying a large number of different games. The cost beyond the $50 per year is included in every game you buy. This however is only bough once, then played for years. Also, once a title is relieced for Xbox, developement on it pretty much stops. This on the other hand will be under constant development for as long as people will pay. They will be creating new content and tweeking existing adventures and the like.
Actualy, from what I've read, that is one of the benifits to steam. You install steam in both places. You attatch your key to your account (or buy through steam...). Now, where ever you log in, it will download and run. If someone else without that game logs in on a computer, the game won't run for them. Never tried this myself as I am very much against steam and won't buy another valve game till they ditch it, but that is what I have heard.
The DVD that is avaliable is just the demo. It does not usualy come with an installer. This lets you boot off the DVD and play with it for a bit before you decide to go out and buy it. Also lets you run linux on anybody's computer kinda like Knoppix.
overseas workers won't be paying US sales tax on bought goods
Yeah, but now the overseas workers or their employer s now have a bunch of US dollors that arn't good for much other than buying goods and services from the US or investing in the US.
maybe we are just expecting to be over paid. Why would Indians in canada get paid less than Canadians? They both have to pay the same for their stuff. Just because you arn't willing to work that cheap doesn't mean someone else shouldn't be able to. Personaly, I like having cheap tech support workers because even if they don't know much more, they are still better than talking to a computer. And, they can pass me up to somone who doesn't need a script if the script won't solve my problem. Not to mention the the fact that the money these companies are saving will be invested on other things which creates more jobs.
Never done it myself, but I've heard that the knopix CDs include a debian installer. Also, you can use an external hard drive or flash drive to hold your home directory and just install stuff there.
Didn't work, only the first 2 pages. I was trying the same thing :)
That is NOT a Humvee. That is an H2. But it is fun to make fun of them. :)

I like this color scheme
It is illeagal to copy and give that coppy so someone else. But yes, you can make as many copys as you want as long as you keep them to yourself.

or not play it at all if you are going to have to go through that much work to make sure a single player game stays offline?
what? you prefer undead?
I have nero and Deamon Tools installed... I've been playing Doom 3 since the day it was reliesed...

you can unplug your internet and run steam in offline mode if you don't want them to know every time you play...
Isn't the mozilla website being hosted at some university these days? I don't think bandwidth is a problem for them...
don't forget that early on, they were selling computers with DVD-RAM drives...
If they do, they will lose the trust of consumers such as myself that don't like to deal with this kind of nonsence.
But why is a single player game having to wait on an internet server in the first place?

I doubt many people have wi-max network cards...

Yeah, now I don't have to be exicuted in other countries...
Or how about the enjoyment you will get from smashing one?
