If you really aren't kidding, here's a little perspective. From experience, it does get better. Teach him to be independent and slowly the mind-numbing boredom of the minutia of everyday battles and the physical exertion start to abate. It seems as though you will never sleep a whole night: you will, eventually.
At least you aren't kidding yourself - that will make a big difference to your sanity.
Agreed. I'm glad I got the browser when it was free as I find it's a fairly unsatisfying experience: no search within a page, no tabbed browsing and the text never seems to fit horizontally at a viewable size. I guess it'd be good in a pinch though.
from TFA:
Isobella Jade was down on her luck, living on a friend's couch and struggling to make it as a fashion model when she had the idea of writing a book...
Ms. Jade spent hours at a stretch standing in a discreet corner of the store, typing. Within a few months, she had written nearly 300 pages.
Hmmm, I wonder how many guys struggling to make it as say, I dunno... a farmer, they let use their computers everyday for months?
As a northern neighbour to the US I can't help but notice how harsh the US sentences are. As a contrast, I feel the Canadian sentences are always too lenient.
Maybe there's a middle ground somewhere that is reasonable?
Agreed, most of the games available on virtual console were great games when they were first released and are still great games. My kids (younger teens), are somewhat surprised at the difficulty level, but enjoyability of these games.
VC games are basically the same cost as a rental game but the fun doesn't end (until you beat the game).
I am really bloody sick of Microsoft's shoddy work.
Agreed, but the other thing about this problem that really seems to burn all the sysadmins and network admins and IT geeks out here is that with all the amazing knowledge and problem solving abilities, no one has been able to devise an elegant solution to this problem.
I am all for lowering the limit even below 0.08, not because I want more "gubermint" in by business, but because it's just safer for everyone.
Where I live in Canada, the legal limit has been lowered to 0.05 for quite a few years now. Also, you don't actually have to be driving a vehicle at the time of the breathalyzer examination, you only have to have had access to the vehicle and the keys and blow over 0.05. In this situation, you can actually be charged with "Care and Control". It's used if they really want to charge you with something.
Don't call bullshit quite so quickly. I am CS major and work for a very, very small tech company.
80% of time spent on usual programming duties such as design and coding. But other 20% is expected for sysadmin duties like security, mail server and firewall admin, network support - router and proxy admin, hardware support - mostly hard disk replacements, but I have changed RAM, done standard CPU fan replacement, and power supply replacement. Some customer technical support and non-tech staff support and training. Also, throw in a little project management.
Unfortunately, in Winnipeg, car theft is also about the organized youth gangs and the "badge of honour" of purposely taking out a pedestrian jogger with a stolen vehicle. You don't need an expensive, immobilizer-protected car for that - any old Tempo, or Cavalier will do.
It's been 8 months, two days ago, since I've had a cigarette - no cheating - *sigh* you'd think it would get easier by now. Coincidently, I set up a slashdot account 8 months ago and have been reading/posting since then... never put my keyboard in a dishwasher though.
We've had smartCars available in Canada since late 2004/early 2005, and I see them frequently on the road here (Winnipeg). It never fails, anytime I mention that I wouldn't mind getting one, people always bring up the crash/safety issue. Try to argue that I commonly ride my bicycle in heavy traffic, not willingly - there aren't many cycling paths here - that's dangerous. People ride motorcycles at high speeds - that's dangerous too. Why is everyone a safety freak when it comes to the smartCar? Incidentally, from my personal experience, males are much more opposed to the car than females are.
Agreed that some games benefit from voice acting. TA mentions Resident Evil series... excellent choice of voice actor in RE4 for the main character's (Leon).
Getting a comparatively great voice for Link would be difficult, if not impossible.
Hmm, I wasn't around for the Scientology comment - I don't suppose anyone would remember and be able to post the pulled Scientology comment would they?
You just made my morning!
Let us also digress into a micro-kernel vs monolith-kernel discussion.
How about anyone who is a mother?

Good luck.
I'm pretty sure AC was just being critical of parent post's grammar. Sheesh.
I also get much more excited due to their use of an exclamation mark after each:
PATENT PANDING!

Have you tried Zyban?
I'm nicotine free for 14 months now. Took Zyban for 3 months.

60 years is brutally harsh in my opinion.

I notice that you don't have any slashdot friends though:
therufus(677843) is all alone in the world.

Fucking "gobermint"
This article is a great short history on spam but no new information was presented to me here...
How many people here knew that Hormel Span was a contraction of "Spiced ham"?

Or better yet: Praise science and pass the beer.

How's this for a comparison: decrease in number of pirates contributing factor to increase in global warming.
Wow. I have read a lot of weird car analogies on slashdot, but nothing quite like this.
I got mine 3 weeks ago at an EB Games in Winnipeg - I was 12th in line for 18 units. sweet!
Unfortunately, no extra nunchuck (gad, I hate saying that word wrt a controller) yet.
I grabbed the updated browser tonight after reading this story and I agree that the control (especially zoom) is greatly improved. - I am impressed.
