  1. Just save it in the cloud. on The Billion-Dollar Bet on the Future of Magnetic Storage (ieee.org) · · Score: 1

Ok, yes if you save it in the cloud then you data will at some point will be save on some sort of storage medium, most likely a magnetic hard drive(s).

However for normal consumer usage. 1tb is more then enough, and it has been that way for a long time, because most of the data that we consume is on the cloud and in general while it is on the cloud the data is more optimized. For example, if you are to backup all your applications, on the cloud normally there would be one copy for thousands of users, and redundant data would be better optimized, such as with a differential data backup vs what we did in the past is a full backup even if you didn't change anything in years.

This is part of the reason why Cloud services can give you these big storage amounts for much less then you can get your own drive.
The companies putting money in magnetic storage, I hope they are not targeting the consumer market for those. Because I think the heyday of selling big drives to everyone is over, especially when people get a new system with a fast NVME drive. Because having a fast snappy PC is much more important for many people then just having gigs of data available but not touched.

  2. There needs to be a point where the screen resolution is high enough where any improvement wouldn't add to the experience. Where then we could use the ever increasing bandwidth for more useful data, vs sending pixels that we will not see.

Today's AI systems are just big probability and correlation calculators, where the Math to do this has been around for centuries, just that with large data sets it become exponentially more complex to process. Today's computers following Moors law have grown to a point where it can handle big enough data sets over a long period of time, where it can find patterns and correlations that most humans will just get tired of doing.

The human brain is actually really good at correlations that is why when we see an Apple, we know it is an Apple, even if it is a different color, at a different location, shaped slightly differently, or even at a different orientation. However we are good at processing a 3d world, but giving big sets of 2d Data. not so much, so the computer can handle it better.

Now for Mining, our Correlation brain with experience, can give an experience minor a gut feeling on where to dig, he will be able to figure this out much faster then today's fastest computers.

Just because you made it, doesn't make it yours. If you sell it, or get paid to build it for someone else, it belongs to them not you, they paid you for it, so it is no longer yours.

What is yours though, is the experience gained in making it, so you will be on good footing to make something new, possibly better.

Back before small businesses had computers. There was often at least one person who was in charge of paychecks. Where over the week they would calculate the number of hours they have worked. 13. Part of the problem is that there are so many forces that will disadvantage a company for doing the right thing. A company doesn't grow with having a big Money Bin, that is just sitting there. The most successful company tries to put every dollar gain back into the system to grow the company and expand further. Unfortunately the progressive tax structure slows growth of a company, by in essence taking money it could be reinvesting it and forcing it to be liquid, for a period of time so it can be paid in taxes. So even before you pay the taxes there is expense on having the money ready to be paid.

So if a company was to be a good citizen it would be a competitive disadvantage to one who bends the rules.

The biggest problem isn't the tax percentage, but the fact there are holes built into the system to give the bigger company ways around it.

Companies are not doing the IBM Mistake which allowed Microsoft to Dominate the PC Market. They are being careful who they license too and have stricter guidelines on who and what can use their software and their section of the cloud.

Back in the late 1980's I could be a White Box PC maker and compete against the likes of Gateway and Dell. I would just need to get all the Case, Power supply, motherboard, CPU, Graphics board, IO Controller Board, Drives... And slap in a $60 MS DOS Install. I would be able to put them all together. Add 20% to my expenses and still be competitive in price with the big boys.
