Come to the states, I have ~7years experience and I get so many calls and emails a day it's a full time job just to sort them. When in the SFBay (worked 6months in this area, wife wanted to go home) area I was averaging (unique) ~80emails and ~30calls, in the Kansas City area about ~20-30 unique emails and ~10 calls/day.
So software development jobs are pretty huge here even with outsourcing. The honest fact behind outsourcing for developers is that there is a serious shortage of them in the US. For every 5 jobs in the Kansas City area there are 3 people looking for a job (statistic in the KCStar). Honestly, looking at that statistic we can probably easily say "of which.8 of them is qualified for".
Everyone wants 5+ years experience, nobody wants a fresh college graduate "jr" and "entry level" is considered 1-3 years of experience. My question is "if that's the case" how do you get experience period?
Oh and for those of you who are looking for Jr and Entry Level, it means NO EXPERIENCE except collegiate or self taught. You are taking on someone who is _wanting_ to learn the trade, teach them, mold them. That's what you are hiring not a low age slave. That's what india is for...
I know the feeling, that's why I graduated High School with a 1.666r GPA and a 1540 on my SAT.
Honestly though, the collegiate system isn't much better, it's a bit more challenging and they ask for a lot more independent studying, but for some it's still too fast and some way too slow. I was in the latter, and is a big reason I dropped out (something I regret 8 years later). I've been programming since, but I just couldn't handle it on my own, how bored I was.
Universities should offer jump ahead forms, where you still pay full price for the class but you can take the class material in a couple of weeks or months versus a full semester. I could have completed 3 years worth of material in a semester with something like that and taken my senior year as a typical student...
And to be flat out honest, while I have a natural aptitude for math and logical problem solving, I have my own weaknesses (such as grammatical correctness and using words in places they don't belong). The point being, I'm not the sharpest stick or the brightest crown in the box. Which makes me wonder how much worst those above me are.
We need to stop catering to the bottom 10% and make a system that works for each group.
It's called throwing a bone so that the rest of the stuff can be hidden under the covers of all the good things they do. They just don't do enough good things anymore...
Or, you know, a rating of NR for Not Rated. Plus there are a ton of indi and professional games out there that depict the twin towers getting blown up. A lot prior to 9/11 more then several post 9/11 (and more and more of the recent years). Honestly, at this point it's a BFD moment. We study history to learn from our mistakes not to hide it under the rug like it never happened.
All of your examples are regional, regions can be massacred if need be.
Also, who the fuck cares about Africa? As you said, they are stuck in a perpetual civil war. They live to kill themselves, I have pity for africans who don't want to be there and believe we should open up refugee centers for them. But Africa as a whole goes down with the middle east in my book. If you can't play nice with the other children then don't play at all.
I think you have far too many steps, they would need alg 1 and 2 and trig, which 2 and trig could be spread over the same year. So yeah, instead of not having to take math your senior level of high school, you have to take calc 1.
Forget that, run them at income tax levels since the money they are bringing in is income. You want to hear them scream, wait till they recognize they are paying 36% tax on the latest coldplay or britney spears album. They would scream.
Yes you did! Now, just give me your full name (as seen on your credit card), address to ship it to, and 3 forms of government issued identification to prove you are who you say you are, a passport or social security card will work great! This is for verification, I promise!
I'm curious to know your regional area. If it's a big college town (see: Boston) I can understand that. People who graduated from schools tend to want to stay there while those trying to enter (aka me) don't have a cold chance in hell.
I'm in the Midwest and my resume happens to be a big fish in a medium pond though.
Some companies yes, this is defiantly the case. (I am a 6 figure salary without a degree person) GFL applying at Google, Garmin, or any other big name company. On the other hand 80% of jobs will look at degree-less person without a problem. For those other 18% which degree's are preferred, if you mention your college education on it, your resume will pass the HR filter in.
Basically, HR looks over a resume and if they see College Education half the time they will think you graduated EVEN if you say "Did not graduate".
Actually it's even worst then that. What they are doing is a win-win situation for them.
On the one hand if few download the content, Paramount can claim that people only torrent for illegal reasons.
On the otherhand if lots download the content, Paramount can claim that people only want to torrent backing it's philosophy that it's cutting into it's profits. On top of that they get to datamine IP Addresses that can be researched for other infringement.
So basically what I suggest is people ignore both the torrent AND the DVD (in which Paramount still wins claiming people wont take free if given, but this is the best of all evils). Which in reality, who was really looking forward to watching this?
Yeah Eclipse is a damn good replacement for VS.
As for games, I do believe many incarnations of Unreal Tournament were OSS. Not FOSS, but OSS. I will admit, the cost to build games and the requirement for constant updates does make it hard for a FOSS game to exist. There is just no doubt to that, but there isn't any reason why you can't play those games on FOSS OS. The problem with games is simply that parts of games leaves the abilities of developers and requires outside resources.
You aren't going to win this argument. Why should we give you the right to vote the second you walk into this country? Who knows we could be immigrated by a large sum of non-like minded individuals who prefer a dictatorship.
A green carder doesn't serve in the draft either. So while I support an open immigration policy (which this government is founded on) I do believe you should become citizens before you have the right to vote. The process of citizenship means denouncing your previous government. Unless you are actually able to get dual citizenship. (I believe the UK & Canada are the only countries we allow dual citizenship, though I could be wrong).
Hell if he did it in the US for a hostile government, he would be in Gitmo. He'd spend 15years there and then get execution or a life sentence. It seems the rights in cuba might be better than our own...
Stop this protesting wherever you stand and start protesting in front of the houses of senators and CEO's. You want to put the fear of God into someone, protest right at there gate. Maybe even stir up a little violence.
Honestly, if you aren't willing to go to jail for your believes, your words will never go anywhere...

And being that my regular glasses are already polarized...
This gives a whole new meaning to Diablo 2: LOD. Shit, I'd be scared of that shit.
Let's just hope it doesn't break at a very inconvenient time :P
I wish I had mod points so bad! LOL, that was awesome!
Hey I read that book too! Want to start IT racing so badddd.

You could have learnt proper English while you were at it.

Same here, in the 80/hr contractor rate range at 24 without any degree, but I do have one semester of college education.

I should start signing all my letters as /b/ :D
Yeah he seems to be overly happy to be there. Maybe they fed him some straight lard.

You mean WTF5318008 unless boobies is spelled boobeis.
