Perhaps one reason behind the decline in music sales is due to easy ways on the internet to find niche artists. Some years ago, I liked the stereotypical, popular bands, but after discovering new material through sites such as Pandora and last.fm (and perhaps from becoming more mature) I now like much more niche bands. I suspect that this happening on a large scale is the reason that the 'safe bet' strategy is not working for the music industry any more.
Disclaimer: I am far from an expert on this subject.
The simplest creatures, bacteria, reproduce largely by binary fission (asexual reproduction), yet they still evolve. The way this is possible is by random genetic mutations. Most mutations cause the cell to die immediately, but a precious few give an advantage, and are thus retained. I believe things such as radiation can cause genetic mutations.
As to the advantage? What the basic drive is for all life, to make more of itself.
I just read a Philip K. Dick short story where there was a television program run by the state that everyone watched. It was a man and his family, and was designed to have everyone living on Ganymede (I think that was where it was set) become the same, and to never question the state or have thoughts to rise above their own lot in life.
Scary. Perhaps Mr. Putin is attempting something similar.
The basic gameplay mechanics need to stay, they are the best in its genre (imo). What needs to be changed, at least what I noticed in Twilight Princess, was that the large-scale puzzles (basically, what do I do next, and how do I get deeper into this dungeon) were perfect, but the small-scale puzzles within rooms sucked. Almost all of these small scale puzzles are extremely easy. The only exception in Twilight Princess was the extremely hard puzzle to get the master sword that was more guessing and luck than logic. I would like to see a middle ground, puzzles that are just hard enough to cause the player to think for a couple seconds!
I've never had a problem reading block text, and it is the most economical way to arrange words on a printed page. I think books will still be formatted in block text even if this system becomes popular, simply because of the cost factor. But in the online medium, the amount of space doesn't have an effect on cost. A problem I can foresee for online use of this technology would be vertical scroll length, which should be minimized.
My University (South Dakota State University) uses Clean Access Agent as well. There is an extremely easy way around the program: simply use another operating system such as your favorite Linux distro. The school network lets me in with a simple username/password.
So why go through the trouble of trying to subvert Clean Access Agent? It is simply there to protect the school network from one unpatched computer distributing virus unwittingly.
I've got a great idea for a new Blizzard project, it might even be the one they will be announcing! It would be set in the Starcraft universe, but would be a first person shooter! It would be guaranteed to sell millions!
Oh wait, that sounds strangely familiar...
The difference is that recording from the radio on the airwaves is extremely lossy most of the time: this is why it was allowed to tape from the radio (I believe). Recording from internet radio, on the other hand, can be an exact replica of the original file.
The first shooting was in a dorm hall. If I had a gun here at school, I would either keep it in the dorm room, or in my car (if I had one). One student keeping his gun in his dorm room, with enough courage and luck, could have saved many lives.

Updating using Ubuntu Edgy is even easier than Windows. A small notification appears in the upper left saying that updates are available, you click update, and everything is done for you. And updating with the packaging format used by Linux is much easier - each package can be updated individually.
From TFA:
A scientific study published last week finds that making ethanol from corn generates less new energy I don't see how it can generate less new energy when both produce 0 new energy (anyone take physics?)
Believe it or not, there is actually good music out there now, but its hiding, buried behind the 'more popular' music. Sometimes it can only be found on eBay or Amazon. Sometimes it takes hours of constructing a Pandora radio station to find them. We must go and save this dying race. Go slashdotters, Go, and rescue the good music, before it is too late!
Uggh. We are on Hotmail, which doesn't support POP3 or forwarding either. Its really annoying to have to go and check that email, because the school has the habit of sending one really important email right after I check (which is usually about once a week).
those with Blackberrys are more likely to work longer hours and feel like they have less personal time than those without. Or maybe those who work longer hours and feel like they have less personal time are more likely to own a BlackBerry.
The government is trying to protect our privacy from other people, not the government itself, because that right is in the Bill of Rights. Unfortunately, no one in government seems to really care about the Constitution anymore.

What I am concerned about is 100% hybrid means no fully electric cars, and also no cars using other forms of power, such as fuel cells.

But ordering a CD online takes a day to wait for overnight shipping!!! I need my music NOW!

What if I don't have fast access to a fly swatter?

Microsoft: I am going to kill you with a rusty knife in your kidney. Me: Great! I don't like choice.
These royalties only need to be payed for radio stations that play copyrighted content, correct? So my favorite radio station wouldn't be affected.

The Mormons keep a huge genealogy database, perhaps the individual in question was involved with securing that?
I like race best in games such as Mario Kart, Gran Turismo, and F-Zero.
