  1. Exfiltrated would be a better word. Illegally copying would be another few. Dangerously stupid yet more.

    But understand this. As far as the majority of people would understand this, he 'stole' data. That is to say, the common definition for the word 'steal' includes copying something on a computer you do not have the right to.

    Well, the few I have installed on my phone include:

    Banking App
    7-min workout app
    two different 2-factor auth apps
    Centerlink (an app for dealing with human services here)
    Google Keep
    Pink Noise generator
    XKCD (so I can read silly comics when no net connection can be had)
    Skype

    None of those have functionality I can find in the basic fare.

  5. I rely on the 'save tabs on exit' thing to be able to keep a lot open, but not actually loaded. For a laugh, I clicked on all my tabs and watched memory usage climb to 2.8GB and CPU sitting at about 20% used, constantly.

    Note, those ultra cheap off-brand (or even sometimes good counterfeit brand name) ones are always fakes. They edit the thing so that it reports that it is the size they claim, but the moment your write more than the actual size (normally like 2-8GB), you get an error and it all goes to shite.

    Nah, 'yak' meaning to vomit is a common one here in Australia. It also means to talk as well, so things can get interesting, but hey, that is why context matters so much.

    Also in the first video of the series, he does note that making device that launch the stuff are regulated and he had to have supervision on this one.

    Also also, article linked talks about 'rocket powered', that word... I do not think it means, what they think it means. He did make (and continues to make) a kart with a JET engine (specifically a pulse-jet), but that is very different from a rocket.

    Goes further than that. Domesticated animals? Pretty much all fruit (especially bananas)? We have, as a species, genetically modified nearly everything we consume to make it more appealing or effective. Probably should just put the warning label at the front of the store.

  24. You didn't read the story. The system that holds the data isn't on the network. But a tech needed to upgrade the firmware on it so hooked it online and had lunch while the firmware downloaded. He came back to find the computer riddled with malware and the data already exfiltraited.
