They are just joining in on the fun, America, UK, Australia have all been abusing legislature regarding terrorists for many many years now. France will not be denied their piece of the totalitarian pie.
I checked, their ad-free version is not available in my region and, even if you have that, it only disables the sidebar ads, not the ones that are in your mail feed.

Then the guys who know all this will ignore the tests and submit a request to have the A-10s maintained for another umpteen years. Then the guys at the top will ignore that and issue them whatever gives the most kickbacks.
