"We're all diehard Macintosh developers here, but we recognize that Windows is the dominant platform," Rose said in a statement. "When you have a great idea, you want more than 2 percent of the global market to have access to it."
I wonder how much time he spent thinking of ways to improve Konfabulator to give people an incentive to use it instead of Dashboard. It would seem from this statement and the article that he just sort of rolled over.
Also, I didn't see anything in the article about it and the Konfabulator website is loading slooooow as hell, but do they intend to coninue developing Konfabulator for OS X? When this originally hit the news there was a pretty large backlash and a lot of people came out in support of Konfabulator. I really hope they don't intend to just ditch them all.
Gee, people can post their opinions about stuff online. And other people can use it as proof of inferiority _all_ the damn time. Crazy thing, that internet.
That same old "this is weird because I say so" / "this is broke but fixed in the latest release" website gets boring. Do your own research, come to your own conclusions.
That's not suprising. While working at a used video game store, I saw the same type of thing happen with PS2's (and we got XBOX's with it as well). The temporary solution for most people was to simply flip the system over and it would actually work much better, although that wouldn't apply as well for XBOX's.
In their defense, I don't think he ever left the XBOX off...
I think that's a very important point. The systems that displayed these problems the most were ones that people would just leave on all the time.
I'm not 100% sure how SuSE Pro works (is it even available for a free?). But with regards to the Live version, you can download the full live DVD images, or you can download a DVD image of SuSE GNOME or SuSE KDE. Each of which is less than 700MB.
Happened to my boss less than a month ago. Spent a long time trying to recover of lot of his shit (some very important files) and had no luck. Long sotry short, no one at work uses filt vault now (: Maybe this is something that will improve in Tiger?
"That makes sense because e-commerce in the last seven years has boomed," said Gary Price, news editor of SearchEngineWatch.com, a branch of Connecticut-based Jupitermedia.com, which reports on Internet surfing. (emphasis mine)
Didn't Wired say that they wouldn't capitalize "internet" any longer? Liars!
I'm not saying one is better than the other, I haven't used either. My point is that his argument about one being better than the other because of his needs is flawed. If my mom wanted to get a portable mp3 player, I highly doubt she'd care to use rsync. But someone else, like yourself, may find that far more convienent. This is your opinion, and this the iRiver is a better choice for you. Does that make it better than the iPod for everyone? Hell no.
If that were true (it is not), one could just as easily say that the iRiver has great ability to play multiple formats, but it lacks in interface and application integration. If the flawed formats argument is what makes you choose the iRiver over the iPod, that's your choice, it doesn't mean one is better than the other.
I don't mean to kick you in the nuts while your down but this just shows how dangerous it is when your not in control of things you buy.
How do you figure? He was in perfect control of what he bought, and he formatted it. If I bought a DVD and beat it with a hammer, I'd hafta buy a new copy of that DVD if I ever wanted to see it again.
All this is illustrates is the importance of backups. I'm no fan of DRM, but this is by no means anything more than user error.
These errors decrease my productivity slightly, but more importantly they make using the computer frustrating. It is impossible not to develop a reflex when you use an interface often, and when that reflex betrays me, and the computer does not do what I expected because someone swapped the gas and brake pedals out from under me, it makes me agrivated.
I really have trouble following that argument. I frequently work on both Windows and OS X and on occasion find myself typing control+key on OS X or alt+key on Windows. But doing that on accident has never "frustrated" me. And from what I have seen from averages users, most of them use the mouse and menus as opposed to keyboard shortcuts. So one could assume that frequently using keyboard shortcuts is more of a "power user" thing anyway. I just can't grasp how a simple accident like that can frustrate someone enough to say the GUI is lacking in some way.
So while I'm a big fan of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show, I do think that his treatment of Kerry really does undermine his point: comedy show or not.
Sounds to me like you're missing the point. What really made that segment funny, was that Stewart asked "softball" questions. Why would you look to a comedy show for real answers from politicans anyway?
...Microsoft said it would complete revisions of the documentation required by the court in the autumn...
How can a company tell a court that they will finish something in a season? Shouldn't a deadline from a court ruling have a specific date attached to it?
When even the mainstream media depicts the actions of your candidate alongside those of eccentrics...
For that to be true, one would have to assume that mainstream media has some sort of great authority over who is "really" a candidate. An assumption many people, like myself, are not about to make. No one directly involved with what happened has said either candidate was arrested because of some "conspiracy," so there is no need to toss that around like it has meaning in what happened.
"Once they're on your network, they can take their time attempting to hack into your computer and steal information," he said. "It's nearly impossible to find them, unless you see them sitting in their car outside."
It's impossible to see, unless you open your eyes!
That link is some strange search portal.
Try this one. (:

And I'm _NOT_ putting anything in your mouth.
So what do you buy? Anything from MS, Cisco, Intel, et al?
If so, it would seem you are fighting what *you think* would be a bad monopoly by supporting current (debately "bad") monopolies.
oooooooooookaaaaaaaaay (:

And interestingly the original story appears to be gone.

Could there be a more obvious troll? These posts get modded up far too often.
I love X. But it's just sooooo unfair for X to do this. Y does it so much better, I just can't believe it!
PS - I'm a huge fan of X, so what I'm saying MUST be true!

Travelling from the US east coast to the west coast wasn't exactly a joyride, either, as anyone who's played Oregon Trail can tell you.
:D
Whaaaaa? Oregon Trail was one hell of a joy ride
The ISPs have 14 days to comply with the court order.
Apparently the courts in Europe know how to set deadlines, unlike the US Courts.
Yeah, like email blasting programs designed to hide behind proxies have any real legitimate uses.

How can a company tell a court that they will finish something in a season? Shouldn't a deadline from a court ruling have a specific date attached to it?
He must, seeing as how this isn't a dupe story. When Slashdot refers to old related stories in new ones, are those dupes?
