Look into the transit system, there's probably some cool projects to do there. At my City, the transit system has an online application that will determine bus routes for you. Everytime I use it, I think "man, this would have been the coolest project to work on." And it's a really useful app too!

If you want to see it, www.winnipegtransit.com, it's called "Navigo"

  6. Re:DON'T DO IT! on Experiences with Laser Eye Surgery? · · Score: 1

Pupil size is only part of the adjustments your eye makes for night vision. The other has to do with the rods and cones... You can find the details elsewhere, but the basic idea is that your eye adjusts to use receptors that are much more sensitive to light, but provide a coarse image with little colour. The thing is, this adjustment takes a lot longer than it takes to adjust the pupil size, and any bright source of light can quickly undo the adjustment.

My point? Well, the drops might be a good idea for if you're going to be in the dark away from ANY bright light source. Once your night vision fully kicks in, you'd probably still be able to gather enough light for decent brightness, plus the clarity you're used to.

I've bought two albums with EMI's copy protection... I couldn't tell the difference from a normal CD. I played normally, and was able to rip all the tracks into iTunes.

If it did install something, it was done in some extremely sneaky fashion. I didn't notice it installing anything, and it would have somehow got around the fact that I was an unprivileged user.

Actually, I think it discourages Gator-like behavior. Gator would be installed in Windows while running the installation program, which you'd have to do as Administrator in Win2K. On the Mac (or on Linux using this scheme), to install a program, you don't have to run an installation program, you just copy the directory as root. But when you run it, you run it as an unpriviledged user, and then such Malware doesn't have permission to wedge itself into your system.

It wouldn't be nearly as spectacular as the solar eclipses involving the moon. The fact that the moon is perfectly spherical and covers the sun perfectly is what allows us to see the corona.

Although an annular eclipse where the asteroid filled up 1/3 of the sun would look cool. Kinda like an eclipse by Phobos as seen from Mars.
