I don't see what's so insightful about this. If you slow down his connection with p2p to the point that he notices, he just uses your connection. Access to the router is logged with a username and password. There's your plausable deniability for kiddie porn.
Come on, she needs the room in the SUV to hold the 2nd change of clothes she needs just in case something happens so she can work her 2nd job in order to pay for the SUV. Didn't you read the article man?
First of all, note that the article linked is not really the topic of this post. It is merely illustrative of the submitter's question of whether it is advised/possible to work to jobs and retire early.
That said, why isn't it possible for her to just work one job with a single child? She makes between $33k and $44k per year from teaching. It may not be a life of luxury, but it should be possible without having to work two jobs.
Ann Marie Perone's SUV...
Maybe a greater awareness of the amount of resources she is consuming and a reevaluation of what is necessary in her life is required.
I disagree. This is a social engineering attack. Years ago the social conditions would not support this type of attack-- people don't know what floppies are, how to access the data on them from a computer, or even have computers readily available. Nowadays everyone knows (and likes to have) USB keys, how to use them, and have computers all around the workplace, in the public, and at home.
Speaking of animations... fixed repost.

I found this link quite interesting to play with. Nothing to do with AI, but rather simulation of organic motion. Quite lifelike and it's fun to play with all the variables.

I don't think anyone thinks that a movie can be made in a month and a half and it probable never will. (A good movie that is).
Rocky (1976) was shot in 28 days. Granted, that doesn't include editing and other post production but it's possible (probable?) the final product was finished in around 1.5 months. And yes, I think it's a good movie. =P
Why is it so hard to use this term properly? When something literally happens, it really happens. Can you ever say it's literally raining cats and dogs? Not unless there's a hurricaine and cats and dogs are falling from the sky.
Katz, if you say you literally could not put down the book then there was something physical preventing you from doing that. Does the book come with a coating of superglue on the cover?
I'm pretty sure id is supplying Linux binaries, meaning they are supporting the Linux platform and whatever Linux stands for, but this doesn't mean they are supporting their program as a product running under Linux. It depends on which "support" you mean when you read the original poster.
I don't think it's a big deal using english words in normal foreign language speech. I am a Cantonese speaker and this type of thing has been happening for years, even before the web explosion of the 90s. We call it "Chinglish". It's not a big deal.
Languages change and evolve. Lots of words in english come from other cultures and languages. What's wrong with english words being used in other languages?
If this technological "Spanglish" continues to spread, wrote Betanzos, Spanish as such may not survive.
Of course. No language can survive if it doesn't change.
For me, the problem I have with dubs is the stylization of characters and the environment is so Japanese that to hear them speak corny english dialogue is somewhat of a dischord to me, and distracts me from the story and art. Even if the translation is done right into sensible english the fact itself that they are speaking english does not settle with me.
The things that annoy you are actually the things that I enjoy about watching subtitled versions. I like to hear the inflection and expression in the Japanese voice and in the Japanese way. I don't really have problems reading subtitles because I can read fairly fast and use peripheral vision to catch the gist of it.
... they're redubbing it in preparation for a re-release on DVD in 2001!
I'm just curious. How many people here like to watched dubbed anime? I only like subtitled foreign films/animes, and so do my anime-fan friends, but do casual viewers prefer dubs over subs? For what possible reason?
Thanks for clearing that up. I was also a bit confused. =)

I think it would be more effective for the creator of the gifs to keep the zoom constant. Right now I am a bit distracted by the zooming and not able to see how the structure unfolds. I think it would be interesting to build some of these with a Mecanno set and try them out for myself.
Even if you don't, a lot of the people that read/. do. (Enough to warrant an anime news topic) Why not view this as an anime film based in the Final Fantasy universe rather than "the next entertainment transition" from the game? That's what I'm expecting of it. A good story with gorgeous visuals.
I don't think Napster has the staying power to warrant its own icon. What will be the state of Napster in 1 or 2 years? It will be supplanted by some other file sharing application. I think something more general purpose like "Some Big Gorilla Association of America Stomping on our Rights" icon would make more sense.

This is only the end of the mulitplier unlock. It was nice while it lasted, but Duron owners will still be able to toy with overclocking by cranking up the bus speed. There's still a lot to be played with-- Celerons and P3s are still commonly overclocked huge amounts by computer hobbyists!

I think a lot of people incorrectly link the failiure of Daikatana (which I agree, it is a faliure) to the failiure of John Romero. Even though he failed to create an entertaining game, he did manage to create a successful development house. Even though the company is known heavily for it's exterior image and mansion like offices, there are still many talented people that work there, such as Warren Spector and Tom Hall.
Eidos would be fools to spend $20 Million on Daikatana and Romero alone. However, if you look at the products soon to come out of Ion Storm (Deus Ex, Anachronox), their future doesn't look so bleak.
What John Romero did during the past 4 years was not only Daikatana, he also had to lay the foundation to develop 3 games at the same time. It's unfortunate Looking Glass had to go under because of Ion Storm (not John Romero personally) but it looks like some equally as impressive games will come out of Ion in the future.

I don't know if that was a joke or not, but the code is ROT-13 and can be decoded here: http://decode.org/

Heh. Think CmdrTaco did the writeup, Katz just posted it. Notice "--Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda" at the end of the first section.
I don't see what you describe in your post... which animation are you looking at and where in the animation is it doing this?
Thanks for clearing that up. I was also a bit confused. =)

You mean root to the box that hosts /.?
I thought they just pulled CmdrTaco's password and logged in to admin.pl and posted the story. Wasn't that the extent of their intrusion?

So would that make it more efficient?
