is companies like Apple locking things down, to hinder third party repairs, users installing their own software, or even worse people porting Linux to their iDevices, and making sure nobody can make revenue out of the controlled wallet garden. So instead of amazing new features, they spend so much efforts on lock down and pseudo security, that they more often than not start to randomly break fragile things for normal users. On the MacBooks they even lock the iGPU away from Other OS, not to mention the T2 chip hiding the SSD,... https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
I would never base my business on this, thanks god I mostly run Linux. And each time I boot a Windows test VM it is unusable for some minutes doing zillions of updates:-/ Also wonder why people and business use something with some much "telemetry" sent back to companies and advertising servers,..!?
I do Linux / OpenSource since I finished school in 1998-ish. Developed ROCK Linux, later forked it into the #t2sde build systems from source Linux, developed GSMP (sound editor), ExactImage, and contribute fixes all over the place, form the Linux kernel, GCC, even Chrome you name it. Guess how many people / companies paid me for something. Even getting into Embedded Systems with our #t2sde Linux was super hard and next to impossible – for a small company like I funded. So we ended up doing some closed source end-user Apps, including https://exactscan.com/ and https://ocrkit.com/ . To get back to do more open source again (because Apple's ecosystem and hardware get's too much on my nerves) I now started a YouTube channel, to hopefully fun cool & daily open source hacking: https://www.youtube.com/user/r...
half a year ago; reviewing how well ViaVoicehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CAkYs8PJT0 and Dragon Natural Speaking worked on vintage hardware back in the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
After they where hiding the iGPU from my 15" late-2013 rMBP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... us another proprietary SSD connector every model year (well when they actually updated something): https://www.youtube.com/watch?... and literally each and every MacBook MacSafe charger has blown up and failed on me in the meantime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... I'm out of purchasing new Apple hardware. Thanks god I maintain my #t2sde Linux (https://t2sde.org) and can just switch to amazing AMD ThinkPads;-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Only need to track some Linux kernel timing regression that mostly affects USB and audio, and my Transmeta Crusoe Oqo 01+ is as good as new: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
I did not have a car for 15 years living in Berlin, Germany. Took the bike and walked as student. Still mostly take the metro and walk today. Our company get's battery damages from parking, as we only take it every other week or two to further away customers and meetings. Pro tip: walking each day to the office I feel super health, have ideal weight and do not even have to visit a gym for that;-)
for a loooong time already. Also do not buy this vendor lock in pseudo security, not built-into hard-drives, or this Apple T2 chip thing. Can't review, don't know what it does, can't trust. Use open source reviewable stuff that we can also fix in case of an issue. I for one only trust open solutions an non of the pseudo "military grade" fluff that breaks as soon as someone looks too close, https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
yep, totally do not mind an extra millimeter, or two, also want my headphone hack back;-) Yes, seriously, it just works great for me. And while at 1mm thicker: What about straight, not rounded edges to have a better grip, you know, like the iPhones 4 and 5 or so used to be,..!
That's why I did not buy a new iPhone, and I just tweeted it this morning, too: https://twitter.com/renebln/st... guess my next phone will by a Samsung Galaxy or so –can even run my desktop Linux on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Aliens obviously! ;-)
yep, me, too, Firefox on my #t2sde Linux https://t2sde.org/packages/fir... though all this Rust & cargo fluff required to build latest versions from source get a bit on my nerves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Nope, MIPS is fully supported, and working, in many WiFi APs or my Sgi Octane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... or Origin 200: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... among other such things, ;-)
Yes, seriously – running Linux these days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... since last month or so also with hardware X.org cursor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
economy and such, not?
Don't take the 10% advance away from me! :-/ https://t2sde.org/
Funny, I think you mixed China with USA there,
should they not work on and "patent" the other way round: how to retain it the longest?

maybe the bulk of the work is not done by superstars, and maybe the superstars are also eventually over worked and burned out, ..? just a thought, ..!
