"There is virtually no problem capitalism can't solve. Demand for such a device will entice manufacturers into the market because they will see the opportunity to make money. As other manufacturers see competitors making the big bucks they will be drawn into the market creating a surplus of devices and lowering the prices for the consumer."
"In no time almost everyone will walking around in their own high resolution digital world with brick like devices on their face and the extra large headphones that are the rage with iPoders. If we don't like seeing smog simply write a script that filters it out. Tired of looking at trash - a few bash commands and its no more."
Personally I'm holding out for smella vision (TM me).
Things are the way they are because that is the way they should be...
The truth is Amazon's implementation is is the best but still not good enough for me to purchase. Anything that [put arbitrary limitations on things is of no use to anyone. In there defense you don't necessarily have to buy books from the A**holes at Random Hose however.
Muni cost $40 dollars per month pre-tax money. Car $9 per day parking + aggravation + gas + maintenance. Let me see. If I could only do math... Of course driving is better because I get to cut other drivers off, flip them the bird and bang on my steering wheel. What more could you want from life?
This is the next step in the MacEducation system. Universities already find it cheaper to stuff a bunch of students in a classroom and have someone talk at them for 45 minutes than to actually have a chemistry lab. A lab has limited enrollment, requires expensive equipment and someone with the technical knowhow to operate and teach the students. Unfortunately it is the lab where real learning takes place. If however the student's time was free to work on real projects and labs, get mentoring from a prof then it could be a boon. MIT is adopting such a model.
The more likely scenario is the university will adopt a diploma mill attitude.
Yes the military has known this for years from the result of their SCOOP project. Radiation only increases the organism's ability to proliferate. Human exposure results in almost instantaneous blood coagulation. But the organism can only exist in a narrow ph band.
I've worked with my share of plant shitters, conference room table shitters and garbage can shitters in my time and they aren't limited to your typical software types either. CEO, CFO, VP, shitters are prevalent and just once in my career I worked with a Human Resource shitter at a major SV company (that will remain nameless) that would take a dump in the executive's office whenever he would ask to get someone fired.
I have to admit my experiences haven't been entirely negative.
I wish someone would collect all the PopMech covers and publish them somewhere. Having a list of all the blimp issues would be great. You just know the Navy has refused to get rid of the hangers at Moffett simply because they knew one day Blimps/Zepplins would be back. PopMech may be correct one day in predicting the return. Even a stopped clock it correct twice a day:)
Believe it or not most people become offended when you mention these ideas. Give it a try. The myth of talent is very strong. Very similar to religion.
Our startup spent $68 million in 4 years. The VC eventually gave the company away for FREE rather that continue funding it.
Another Bio tech I was at spent $25 million in 6 months and the VC decided to with draw. This after over a $100 mill had been put in.
For how long it took, what they produced in the end and what it will eventually make they got a deal.

"Thus begins a new world order. In the past we at MS were more than willing to face protracted legal battles with smaller opponents until their resources were depleted. We now wish to move beyond our past antitrust positions and compete freely and openly in the market of ideas. Primarily because in this case we have no choice. The opponent is too large and the economy is bad and we would probably lose. But smaller less financial able companies beware. Don't take this as a sign of weakness. If you do not have the resources for sustained legal action we will show no mercy."
Memory can make a difference.
Ubuntu Linux handles network traffic differently than Windows.
Now we have that settled. What question would you like answered next.
I would suggest my scared straight program. 11-14 year olds are chaperoned for a 24 hour stay at a startup, made to drink sodas all day and sit in a chair for 2/3 of an entire day. They attend several meetings with a well chosen group of social inept engineers and participate in inane discussion about object oriented programming, design patterns and which language is best. At the end of the program we have a discussion group with recovering software engineers .
If they they still want to be a software engineer it maybe time for an intervention or mood altering drugs.
The patent doesn't prevent people form using liquid cooling. The patent probably claims to implement it in a unique way. Maybe they built it into the one piece aluminum body or something clever that takes up less room or makes it more efficient. Not all patents are necessarily bad patents.
Here is the first question from a customer they will get.
Hey what is the difference between this a version 5 and 6?
When the answer is there was no version 5 the customer will automatically realize
they are being used as a patsy.
Next vendor please!

Offer to extend your time but get something in return. A retention bonus etc. They will probably decline the offer.
It is just the right size and would be disruptive.

A simple Windows Mobile device would be just as effective:) Just kidding.

we can explain the economy by looking at one, five, ten, etc dollar bills.
