It's not just about modifying your hardware, it's about modifying your hardware to pirate games.

Exclusive games: MGS 4, Heavenly Sword, Lair and more are PS3 exclusives; granted, MGS 4 may come out for other consoles too, but that isn't a sure thing yet and aside from MGS 4 tehre's no indication that these other games are heading to other consoles or the PC. As for network support, I don't know of any games out for both the 360 and the PS3 that don't both have network support. As far as framerate, I haven't had a single problem with the framerate on my PS3 games...so again, I don't know where you're coming from there. As far as the PC, I haven't had trouble with a driver in years; PCs have come a long way from that sort of trouble. Generally the only thing you might have to do is get the latest driver, and if you can't go to a website and download and install a file, you don't deserve to use a PC, ever. Pack it up and take it back.

Dare I point out that Bioshock is coming the PC as is Fallout 3 (so who cares about the console versions). What's more, considering both Halo and Halo 2 have both come to PC, my bet is that Halo 3 eventually will too. Finally, my bet is that Mass Effect will hit the PC at some point too, as all of Bioware's RPGs have at one point or another. So...reason to buy a 360 again when everything they have that's worth playing is for sure or almost certainly will hit the PC in the near future (or another console)? Oh yeah...none. I'll stick with my PC, PS3, and Wii; thanks a bunch, come again.

But at the same time, the content WAS on the disc, it WAS part of the program and that does technically make it content included with the game. As a side note, this article is pointless; this is nothing new and I'm mystified as to why Slashdot put it up as a story.

The Genesis also was sold at a profit; unlike the X-Box 360; it was a different time of course, but every console sold meant profit in Sega's pocket. What's more, Sega immediately had a great lineup of games, the 360 is a year in and they've only got two games that aren't also going to the PS3 or PC that I would want to play, Mass Effect and Halo 3 (note that Gears of War has been announced for the PC); though my bet is that both of those will hit the PC in the next year or two. Lost Odyssey might be good as well, but I haven't seen enough of it to make a decision one way or another. The point is this: I don't think Microsoft has enough exclusive games to keep people interested, their Halo fans have bought the console immediately, and now it comes down to the rest of the market. The rest of the market, is unimpressed. That aside, this a huge hit to take for Microsoft's game division, my bet is that the 360 MUST turn a profit by the end of its lifespan, or Microsoft will back out of the console market.

Wrong. AO is for essentially the NC-17 of the video game ratings board; extreme violence or nudity are what will get you this rating. It's also worth noting that an AO rating is only the "kiss of death" for CONSOLES. There's nothing to prevent you from releasing a game on the PC with an AO rating, and in fact there are quite a few games that are rated AO released for the PC; most of which are porn games, mind you, but some of which are simply too violent for a mere Mature rating. If you ask me, Rockstar should just release Manhunt 2 as-is on the PC, and be free of the console's clamp down.

  25. Re:What? on AO Rating Basically Bans Manhunt 2 From Release · · Score: 1

Well, let's put it this way: it's their console, they control what goes on it. Let's face it, the console companies aren't being "morality police", they're doing what's good for their bottom line. Manhunt 2 (and any other AO game released on a console) is sure to cause a hellstorm of lawsuits, and the consoles don't want to be hit with one. The other thing is that if they release one AO game on their console, they open up their console to many more AO games; the vast majority of which are porn games. Porn games means cries that consoles are "porn machines" and God knows that no console company currently in existence wants to see cries of that (though with internet connectivity...they already have begun to see such cries). In essence, the console makers are looking at the bottom line, and AO games don't look to really boost that bottom line, compared to all the crap they'll receive in return.
