I'm sure the people with various diabilities will love this.. Now they can start submitting patches and the like! Just will be a bit out of date, but lets see Windows have accessibility like this!
I see alot of posts that say AOL is trying to stop other IM clients from using their servers because of their ad revenue.. Funny thing is that I use the offical AOL Linux version of AIM, and I never see ads. Ever. Maybe they don't consider the Linux crowd worthwhile to show us ads? We're ceratinly not generating any income by using their normal AOL service.
It seems that all the disclaimer writers I've seen learned to type on AOL... They start out in normal upper and lower case letters.. Then, for some reason, they switch to all caps, like they never realized it.. They go on for several paragraphs like this.. Then they suddenly realize that they were in caps mode, and turn it off... I swear that they learned to type on AOL....
My problem with this optimized version of Sims is that its a bastardization... Its not quite Windows, and its not quite Linux... Its somewhere inbetween.. Either give me a full Linux version, or allow me to play the Windows version.. No inbewteen versions please.. WHo knows if these optimization will work with future version of WineX, we have no idea what these optimizations are.. I'm sure that Transgaming will try hard to keep it working, but who knows..
Old Calc books?? Funny.. Somewhere I have an old math text book I found in my grandparents attic.. Its called "Three Conic Sections", dated 1836... It uses some for of notation that I have never seen before, lots of double colons (::) and such.. I also have a collect of other old text books (English from 1890's, German from 1880's, Automotive Carberation (gotta love gravity fed carbs..) from 1900's..) and a bunch of others..
HP3000's where the first "large" computer I played with... My highschool had one, and thats what they taught us Pascal and other structured languages on (long before computers were in most schools, I think I had my C64 at the time).. Ah well, things move on I suppose.. Now what was that command? listf?
If your employer is the one providing an internet connection, and you surf a page that requires payment, who pays?? What about college, univeristies, schools in general?? This will never work..
Can this thing run in a different virtual terminal? Then you could run X and DirectFB at the same time, just different terminals. Compatibility issue solved.
Bring up the Control Panel, go to Peripherals, select Mouse. In there, there's an option "Double-click to open files and folders (select icons on first click)". Choose that, Apply, Ok.
At least thats what its says in my 2.2.1 copy (texstar RPMS on Mandrake 8.0). I believe the option has been there since 2.0...
Gee.. How simple would it be to write/modify an MP3 honeypot and make them think that they are winning the way? We keep our MP3's, they publish/market the fact that they're deleting MP3's from the "hackers", everyone is happy.
If this can hold up in court, imagine what they could do wth this... They could add other cluases like "can't use to create disparing remarks about the following companies: Microsoft, Sony, Ford,......."
Sony, and others could pay M$ to add them to their clause.. Man.. that would be bad..
It has PCMCIA slots.. Need network access, add it... I'm considering adding a PCMCIA soundcard and using it for MP3's in a room that doesn't have a phone or computer yet.. Right next to my bar, so I can snag drink recipes too....
I would be curious in knowing whether the company that supposedly harmed (Adobe) can ask to have the case dropped, especially if they were not the ones who initiated it, if this 'Abmahnung' stuff is true...
A friend of mine came up with a pretty nifty password creation scheme.. He lived on a rather busy street near a stop light.. So he would look out the window and pick out someone's licence plate number who was waiting at the light.....
Heh.. I too am in the CNY area (buying a house in Bridgeport).. Try www.cnyhomes.com.. They get the MLS listings the day they are put in.. I actaully did find the house I am buying through www.realestate.com, but that was before I knew about cnyhomes.com....
Why not come up with a p2p variation of cb/free db?? It might not be as realiable, but certainly less chance of people being sued and the service taken down... Over time as more and more people use it, it would get better..
I've been slowly working on a FTP based MP3 player.. Python based... Runs console only... Uses mpg123.. Doesn't handle multiple servers, but could be done fairly simply... It connects the the FTP server, recurses the directories looking for mp3 extensions, and then lets you build a playlist.. It'll then transfer one file at a time to the player... I'm working on getting to cache a couple songs at time now, but the basics work..
I'll probably be posting something on Freshmeat in a few weeks..
Does this mean ping will be illegal? Or any type of clients/tools that search for servers (irc/ftp/ etc..).. What about search engines?
This could also kind of backfire.. Imagine ISP's that scan ports to see who's running webservers that they 'shouldn't' be.. Wouldnt that be illegal too??

What happens if you try to return the item??? How can they charge it back if the card number has expired??
