I'm in Central NY, and Verizon's coverage was pretty good. However, their customer service sucked more than Monica Lewinsky. When I first called to set up my service, they had no idea where Syracuse was, and transferred me to 3 or 4 different call centers before they found someone who knew where I was at. (Most of them apparently don't know that there is more than 1 city in New York State). Later, when I tried to do a market transfer, they started double billing me. It took a few hours of waiting on hold to get that one straightened out.
(assuming you're in the US...) Does your dish allow you to pull in CBC (out of Canada) to watch hockey? Their hockey coverage is far better than anything you'll find from an American TV station.
As somebody who worked for a company that had a "theme song" let me just say: This is the surest sign you should quit that anybody could ever give you. Anytime there's a "song" it's because some corporate wonk made it up to raise everybody's spirits after a management fiasco.
I can think of legitimate reasons for a company to have a theme song. For example, what if you work for The Chicago Bulls Basketball Team, Inc.? (Yes, I believe that's the actual name of the company) Or what if you worked for "Hank's Theme Song Shop"?
Sounds a lot like the shipping place that I used to work at. We would do pretty much the same thing, although if the customer asked us (and paid more), we had a machine that we would use... wrap the item in plastic, then the machine sprays foam all around it, so you have a custom molded piece of foam.
As far as the package tossing goes, yes, it does happen. Mostly the boxes we tossed were the small ones (about 6 cubic inches) that were rather lightweight. The UPS truck would back up to our side door, one person would stand inside and move boxes to a middle person, who handed them to the UPS driver. Small boxes tended to be sent fairly high up, and would be caught with a fair catch signal. I only had 1 drop in 3 years (a small box, containing 2 boxes of business cards, no damage)
The Lions almost ALWAYS suck. (hey, I'm a Michigan resident for 19 years, I can talk about the Lions) On a similar note, which Detroit area team sucks more? The Lions or the Tigers? I'd have to say the Lions... the Tigers at least won one game this past season.
Steve Herrell tried to expand (or franchise) his "Steve's" Ice Cream to Ann Arbor, MI. Sadly, the store closed in about 1990, possibly earlier. I'm not sure how long it was around before it closed. Too bad, they had good ice cream:(
Just a little factoid, Tom Monahagn no longer owns Domino's Pizza. If you look on the date of that article, it's from 1989. Monahagn retired in the mid 90's, and is now using the money he earned from the years of being in the Pizza business to fund a lot of right-wing catholic groups (a law school, an elementary school, an art gallery, etc) While I may not agree with his pro-life stance, he's no longer a reason to boycott Dominos.
(On a somewhat related note, I find myself eating more Domino's than I want... it's not really "good" pizza, but it is cheap, and I'm a college student)
I find it slightly absurd that they banned "Peace Train"

If you don't have a balcony you can hang a flag from, I have designed a version that fits into an AIM profile. Just look at the profile for SyracuseWolvrine and copy the flag.
(note: I realize this is not a perfect copy of a US flag, but it's the thought that counts.)
Classes are not the only way to learn in college. I managed to get hired last year to do tech support work for a decently sized university. I worked all year last year, and am working there again this year. What have I learned from this job? Teamwork, troubleshooting, lots of experience with TCP/IP problems, networking problems, and even some stuff about how to run wires (they normally don't let the Student Consultants do anything with wiring). All the skills that you say you're looking for, but not finding in people fresh from college. All this and I'm still only a sophomore. (even though I've still got more time to go, not too early to start looking for a job... if you're interested in hiring me, drop me a line)

Your server fights with itself? ;)
When was the telephone system ever owned by the postal service? At least in the US, I'm pretty sure that that has NEVER happened.

I've baked hockey skates before, but I've never had to bake backup tapes.

Me: "It's 1060 W. Addison, Chicago IL, 60613"

Thanks for the advice about the DXR3 board ... I downloaded a set of drivers from Sigma Designs, and it works much better than the Creative drivers.

You are sent to the penalty box
2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, 5 for fighting (or trying to start one), and a game misconduct.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of a spam that includes the text "oh freddled gruntbuggly"?
Possibly the only good thing about MediaNone in Ann Arbor?

Doh! I should've checked the spelling before I posted. My bad. It's been one of those days (no, not an excuse, I know)

We've already proved that we can spell. "I want to vote for Al Gore ... hmm, B-U-C-H-A-N-N-O-N, that looks right *punch* "

I'll see your 2 simple catch phrases, and raise you 2.
