  1. Forget new features, try removing old bugs. on 20 Features Windows 7 Should Include · · Score: 1

For starters, they could fix the window Z ordering bug thats been there since Win95, and has been in every release to date, including Vista (ever seen a focused window below a non-focused window when both are not Stay On Top windows ? I have on Win95, Win 98, Win2000, Win2003, Win2008, XP & Vista). There are many other little bugs that never seem to get fixed, I'd prefer to get these annoyances removed ahead of buying new eye candy.

  2. Its unlikely to be adopted widely on Atari Founder Proclaims the End of Gaming Piracy · · Score: 1

In order to work, the game producer is going to have to rely on gamers buying new hardware incorporating the chip, and at the same time exclude the vast share of the market that doesn't have the chip. Either that or produce software that allows it to work with or without the chip. So either the producers lose a load of revenue, or produce something that potentially bypasses the chip security. Why bother ?

  3. And it shows on NYTimes.com Hand-Codes HTML & CSS · · Score: 1

They may well hand code everything, 'cause it really looks like they do. The link in the OP just proves the point, its the most bland page I've seen in years. OK, i dont always look for eyecandy when reading the news, but this is like something from the 70's.

  9. The REAL solution is- on UK Police Want DNA of 'Potential Offenders' · · Score: 1

for Police to actually do some real policing & solve crimes without relying so heavily on DNA. Yes, DNA proves the DNA material came from one person, but police rarely bother to investigate how the DNA arrived at the scene. If I shake hands with someone, and they then pick up a knife & stab someone, my DNA will be on the knife as well as the criminal. Police are lazy & have DNA as their "silver bullet" to prove guilt without any effort.

  10. You missed a TAG on that... on A New Paradigm For Web Browsing · · Score: 1

You should have added the "Slow News Day" tag to this. This sort of pseudo-predication, "whats going to happen in the next X years", article has been buzzing around for years. Very little value & rarely delivers what was promised.

  11. And I thought the Taliban were smart on Taliban Demands Downtime on Afghanistan Cellphone Networks · · Score: 1

They could easily have used the situation to their advantage, by having their phones used to give false information on where they are, strap it to a dog, leave it on a bus, whatever. They could easily have drawn their hunters out with a collection of phones in a booby-trapped area & ambushed them. Maybe they are dumb & lucky so far...

  12. Hot Air on UK Government To Terminate File Sharers' Net Access · · Score: 1

If you guys know politicians, you'd realise this is just a load of hot air, to give the impression they are doing something about the problem, without actually doing anything. The govt. have been saying for years they will improve police / schools / hospitals / crime, and have achieved very little. Dont worry about it, it will disappear soon enough, when they offload the responsibility onto someone else.
