MS has spent over two decades ignoring the CLI shell; they don't care about it and don't understand it, they only understand GUI. Powershell is proof of that, only people who have disdain for CLI would produce that absurdly verbose monstrosity.
Metro was an OK enough idea until MS implemented it and rammed it down everyone's throats. Similar well-meaning but fundamentally flawed reasoning is possible here.
Just as Metro took away the task bar in favor of invisible UI elements, Apple took away the analog jack in favor of wireless headphones.
Every other study I've seen about TV viewership points to the average viewer's interests encompass a limited number of channels, about a dozen. Stuffing more channels into a bundle doesn't make people watch more of them.
The business model of cable is mainly based on high viewership channels subsidizing low viewership channels. They need bundling to support all the new dreck that gets made and old stuff that's re-run.
SalesForce might actually want LinkedIn as a business unit.
However, I think MS is only in it for the user data, as with Skype and, to a degree, Mojang. MS is desperate to get user data like Apple and Google has. But MS has no idea how to build a community or connect with consumers, so they have to collect user data by either surreptitious means (Win10) or by buying it through business acquisitions.
Cable will lose subscribers, but they won't lose the money those subscribers haven't paid yet. It's like trying to Chicken-Little the fact that cable will "lose" revenue from subscribers that die in the next year.
The fact is, the TV market is changing and the providers continually refuse to adapt. If cable rates increased at less than 6 times the rate of inflation, that would help save their asses.
Doubtful at this point. Many of those vendors are being targeted with Win10 IoT, which hasn't been available long enough for new systems to be developed and deployed. In 6 to 12 months we'll start to see all the old XP-based POS, ATM, and other kiosk solutions get replaced with RaspberryPi + Win10 IoT, which is the intended market of the OS (well, Universal App bootloader), not hobbyists.
McLaren would never be so arrogant to, say, remove the headlights from their cars just to sell drivers an expensive set of VR goggles for night driving.
Just imagine how much space Apple could use if they made the phone thicker. They could have a bigger battery, headphone jack, barometer... there are all kinds of possibilities.
I'm already in a similar situation. Soon I'll be giving up my 5 year old Android phone and going back to the flip phone it replaced because there is no longer an upgrade path that will let me keep the hardware full QWERTY keyboard.
This is essentially the Rubber Ducky dongle that's been used in Mr Robot. Esmail and his tech consultants doesn't invent stuff like that, so this must have been available for a while.
Your analogy is flawed. Mac and cheese is mac and cheese. You can tell them you don't want the dead bug you found in the packet of cheese powder, however.
The spraying will stop in 8 to 10 years when the suits are settled, which will be 5-7 years after all the bees are dead and 4-6 years after every supermarket produce section becomes permanently half empty. Grains won't be affected much, but fruits and vegetables will be. And bees aren't the only pollinators.
Apple doesn't need to, their devices have mindshare.
MS is incapable of marketing effectively to end users (except XBox), so they must buy their mindshare.

Paint, Notepad, cmd.exe. Super basic tools on Windows have always been pathetic, because Windows is not meant to be productive right out of the box.
MS has said on multiple occasions that 10 will be the last "version" of Windows.
But you can keep holding your breath if you like.
Only PHP4 could have allowed WordPress to happen. Only PHP7 could allow it to continue.

They'd feel compelled to rebrand it as Trump something or other, and no one wants that.
It's not about Twitter failing to be profitable, it's about all these suitors wanting the last available huge set of user data on the Internet.
Internet products and services above a certain critical mass threshold become a means to an end: user data. The product or service is just the bait.
Many things would be less asinine if our government didn't operate from positions of fear and/or paranoia.
Our government fears the people, yet there is still tyranny. Jefferson would be perplexed and outraged.
McLaren would never be so arrogant to, say, remove the headlights from their cars just to sell drivers an expensive set of VR goggles for night driving.
And then call it courage.
Just imagine how much space Apple could use if they made the phone thicker. They could have a bigger battery, headphone jack, barometer... there are all kinds of possibilities.
The Chromification of Firefox continues.
In capitalist America, stagecoach robs you!

This is a victory for Microsoft and all the PC OEMs. This decision validates the consumer Windows business model in Europe.
Your analogy is flawed. Mac and cheese is mac and cheese. You can tell them you don't want the dead bug you found in the packet of cheese powder, however.
"Water resistance" is the most unique spelling of "vendor lock-in" I've ever seen.
The new version is you pay to get a degree. Learning the trade is extracurricular.

The CFPB fine probably ate enough of the projected profits to make the program not worth continuing (which means they'd have to fix the issues).
Impressive that the stage coach is still blatantly robbing people.
