I can afford multiple computers. I have three that have been upgraded and accumulated over the years. All of which are decent enough to keep around and actually use. Contrary to that, I do mind paying for a Windows license. I figure, I've never done it before, why start anytime soon? Then again, the responsiveness of Vista almost makes it not even worth pirating.:P
What, do you replace your vehicle every other year or something? That must be awfully expensive. I drive a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle (with a fiberglass, kit car body) and have a 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle as my secondary car. They probably run better than anything you could buy new nowadays.
You tried to "go legit" with NetFlix? The entire reason I have a subscription is to burn all of the films and send them back the very same day they arrive!
So Ulrich's logic is that he never would have paid for this album in the first place and therefore it's ok for him to download it... yet the many file sharers that have no intent(or in some cases the means) to pay for it are thieves?
Have you heard Death Magnetic? No one should pay for that pile of crap, not even Lars.
I couldn't get GTA4 to recognize my mouse when trying to change many of the control settings. I don't like using my 360 controller and I don't like the default WASD keyboard/mouse setup. This has got to be one of the worst ports ever.
Finally some intelligent thought on this matter from game publishers. They should focus on benefits that will get pirates to switch over, rather than annoying DRM technologies which do nothing but hinder the use of the game by legitimate customers, while real pirates bypass them with ease.
Valve uses Steam to hinder the use of their games by legitimate customers. A wonderful example of this is the fact that they want me to purchase four individual copies of any given title just so my family and I can play it within the privacy of our home network. Nintendo didn't ask me to purchase four copies of Mario Kart just to sit around the house and play locally. This is a large factor in why Quake III Arena is still favored among my family.
Because they have nothing to do with each other. Square-Enix should really learn how to use subtitles instead of increasing digits. Digits imply sequels, whereas none of the games relate to each other in any conceivable manner. On the off chance that they do, you end up with utterly retarded sounding titles like "Final Fantasy X-2". Yeaaah...
Throttling is not a problem if you keep on them. Call and complain when you begin to see slowdowns in your exchange rate. Not only will they quickly stop it, but they'll give you free rentals to apologize.
I pay $18 every month for the "3 at a time, unlimited per month" plan. I can go through six films a week because I mail them back out the very day they came in. Even with the cost of recordable DVDs, that's quite a deal, especially when you consider those frequent 100 DVDs for $20 deals that K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Kroger, and similar stores have all of the time.
Instant gratification is not a problem when you have a huge back catalog of movies waiting to be watched. Since I do not subscribe to any kind of television service though, I often do watch several films every week.
One of the purposes of a public school system is to assist in the successful development of children. Protecting them from potentially damaging information falls under that umbrella.
Successful development, huh? I think you mean systematic conditioning for conventional thought. The very fact that you would deem certain types of information as "damaging" shows just how well the construct worked for you.
It does suck. Having used various Tablet PCs, touch iPods and iPhones, I can safely bet that removing all traces of tactile feedback is not the future. That said, I would like to point out just how awesome the Hp TouchSmart would be for use with Photoshop. As much of a gimmick as it is, that touch screen and a stylus would undoubtedly beat out a Wacom tablet any day. There would be no mental disconnect of drawing on the desk and having it show up on the screen... It'll all be rendered right where it was drawn.
Really? I didn't even know that half of the amps and such were actually branded... I thought they were just made up. Seeing branded guitars and such in a music game isn't so much of a problem. Guitar Hero: World Tour, however, was littered with needless shots of KFC buckets, AT&T billboards, and other distractions that only serve to date and cheapen the game itself. If they wanted to advertise for KFC in the game, they should have had Buckethead as a playable character.:P
How about tab browsing in Windows Explorer? Put an end to this "open in new window" and "open in same window" debate! No longer will My Computer and the Control Panel be in separate windows!
For every other genre though, i agree a console is better.
Someone has obviously never played an FPS. Nothing beats the mouse and keyboard combination. In fact, I'd say that there are only a limited selection of genres that actually benefit from the presence of a gamepad instead.
Yes, that's when us long hairs were making a lot of noise about many things, including drugs. But we had very little power then. It wasn't us who was attempting to change the law.
No power? Are you kidding? There was a revolution springing up around your entire generation and all anyone could seem to do was organize music festivals. Great music by the way, but not the large scale rioting that could have achieved real change.
The problem is that I have to purchase four different copies of Team Fortress 2 just to play it with my family on my private home network. Several other Steam games that I've tried don't have this problem as they can be played in Offline Mode. Of course then the wife and I can't play against someone online. I guess that scenario doesn't sound as legitimate though. However, I feel that if I don't own the games I buy, I should at least have a home license. That extends to any software, really.

Staples' EasyTech only charges $99!

You are not the only uncaring one. Really.

He's a lumberjack and he's okay?
This sounds like just the type of event we need. Weed out the gene pool a little, aye?

They have to cater to Intel. Fuckers.
That game wasn't controversial, it just sucked.
It is not a lack of ability or "laziness" when people prefer a specialized machine to provide interactive entertainment.
Yeah, actually it usually is.

Clearly the ESRB warning should mention stuff like that.
Rated T for Teen
Contains: Drug References, Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes, Commercialism.

That's hot. I want a perfect woman... perhaps a little more "developed" down there though. Aye? ;)
Default judgments are mainly for people like you that don't respect the system.
When has the system ever earned or deserved respect?
