One thing I've always thought about when considering the Fermi Paradox is that maybe the reason we have not been contacted is the same reason we have not contacted the indigenous tribes discovered in the South American rain forests. If we were to discover a planet with intelligent life far more primitave than our own, we would avoid contact so as not to disrupt their society. I am wondering if that is what is happening here. Believe what you will, but the vast amount of UFO evidence all but proves the existence of UFOs. Granted some of them are fake and there is the whole top-secret government project view, but I am wondering if our government has such wonderful tech, why are other countries even considered a threat to us?
Yes, talking on the phone distracts from the road, but that won't change the fact people do it.
All the law does is add another distraction into the mix. Now, when talking on the phone and driving, people are also looking out for cops. Looking out for cops is one more distractions from driving.
Listen troll, skyscrapers aren't 144,000 KM tall. The amount of drag winds can induce on a cable of that length is enormous. The cable is under extreme tension, as well. A strong earthquake could cause a fiber to break, and even one broken fiber could result in a failure cascade of the entire cable.
I think the principal did the kid a favor.
Look at it this way- the principal needed to do something when he found out about the libel (he was accused of being a paedophile). He had a choice- handle it as a school matter, and discipline the student accordingly, or handle it in the courts. Which option do you think would have been most damaging to the student? I think the principal, by keeping the matter in the school, acted in both his and the student's best interests- like a good principal should. The seriousness of the accusations against him in the Myspace page required a course of action on his part, and he took the correct one.
maintaining geosynchronous orbit while tethered to the ground is not a good idea. there are so many factors that could turn a space elevator into a complete disaster. a cat-4 or 5 hurricane could potentially put so much drag onto the cable that the whole thing tumbles to earth. an earthquake could yank it out of orbit. tidal pulls from the moon could rip it from the ground. lightning damage. i'd love to see this become a reality, but i just dont think that will happen.
The music in Oblivion was downright beautiful, too.
Overall, though, the audio wasn't perfect (at least on the PS3 version). I found some of the speech to be frustrating. The volume wasn't normalized properly- one line would be delivered audibly, only to be followed by another line, spoken by the same npc in the same conversation, that was too quiet to hear.

Lets not forget that the tree will ultimately die, and either or burn. Both give off lots of CO2. I think the net amount released is just about equal to the amount sequestered in the tree's life time.
It's only a matter of time before they start charging money for in-game content that should otherwise have been covered by the subscription/price of the game.
They already have with The Burning Crusade and are about to do it again with Wrath of the Lich King
So Sir! I typed a big round 0 in the name-your-own-price box, and that is what I paid. I didn't even need to give a credit card- just my email address!
Imagine printing a 3 dimensional multicolored object. The color would be layered and continuous through the object, not just painted on. You print something like an apple. It is red on the outside, but if you cut it in half, you see the white inside with brown seeds in the core.
Or imagine a figure of a human or animal. Cut it open, see guts. Granted, it would all be 1 solid object with no physical distinction between gut and skin other than color.
When focusing a laser through a lens, some of the energy in that laser must inevitably be lost due to the lens not being %100 transparent (invisible). I wonder just how much energy is lost in the lens?
Yes they said it could be used for emergency devices and the like, but the video on the website demonstrates the coating on iPods, cell phones and laptops.
From the perspective of a man who grew up with legos and duplos- The legos were waaaaaay easier to snort.
No, no, no, no, no! That's what made it funny. It's not funny any more, at least not until it becomes funny again.
Yes, life imitates art. 24 is about 35 years too young for it to be vice versa.
Yes, Obama was clearly favored by the media. He was clearly favored by the American people, too!

before another digit is needed yet again
Anyone who has ever seen the elderly try to drive a car already knows this is a HORRIBLE idea.
*ahem* sarcasm
TFA is clearly wrong. The image looks more like it is exploding Sudan, rather than exploding over Sudan.
I'm considering picking this up. Anyone play? What are your impressions?

So.. they actually work?

Check your history books. The UN was disbanded in February of this year. They are now known as The Mystic Angels of Death (at least in Nazjatar)

Locked in syndrome More condition than disease, but this is the worst thing I could imagine anyone ever experiencing.
