Before you get all proud about the 40MPG rating, please note that a US Gallon differs from an Imperial Gallon... and (legitimately) gets 40+MPG.

Seeing as the US Gallon is ONLY used in the US, it's not a legitimate measure for the REAL world (not this fantasy place you call the USA).

Please don't post this crap on a site read by people outside the US - it really shows the narrow minded views of US citizens.

Not all of us live in the backwards land you call the USA. So really, this only effects a country that's more of dead weight to the world than a leading entity.

I know I'll get modded flamebait, but I'm so sick of this US-centric view that's perpetuated on open discussions. Maybe think outside your indoctrinated narrow view for just a second to realise the word doesn't reflect US opinion or sentiment.

If Americans can't do this, be prepared for a nice big slap in the face in the near future. The whole anti-communism, anti-arab, pro-protectionism crap that gets spun by US citizens merely reinforces the stereotype that Americans are gun-toting, small-minded, religious nuts.

Wake up or you'll be woken up by the international community.

I am not watching current Windows scene too closely but I remember AOL applications always linking to MSHTML, even their most popular applications of their time. Today, vendors don't even feel the need of writing ''MS IE required'' as they assume it must be already there.

Perhaps pushing MS to truly remove IE is unrealistic, pushing them to make it like Apple Webkit/Safari in terms of both being open and closed with their (MS) own open source terms is the way to go? I am not saying GPL or even Apache. Well, no court can push them that hard so it won't likely happen.

I'm sorry but your rambling is quite incoherent.

Firstly, AOL is not a "die-hard rival" to MS, in fact, the complete opposite. If you remember in the good old days MS had links to sign up for AOL plastered all over your desktop. So you fail straight up.

I'm not sure what your meaning of "GPL or even Apache" means, it's rather confusing. One is an open source licensing system, the other is a web server.

To be honest, you seem like someone who's heard a few buzz words and really has no idea what you're on about. Next time maybe email your responses to a competent IT professional prior to posting on slashdot, otherwise you just come across like an idiot.

I'm leaning heavily toward the snake oil side of this one. I've never had a pressed CD have ANY issues, the "benefit" I see is that these CDs will cost more, which is a benefit to Sony - more royalties.

Yet another example of Sony not really innovating, but sucking the lifeblood out of technology markets. If there's a way to kill CDs, causing the price to rise with no benefit will do it.

I call bullshit on that dude.

I've worked for some large companies that supply services to large corporations, ALL of them had their own specific versions of windows, and yes, they did upgrade with the times if justified (2k to XP). These were corporations like banks, supermarket chains, telcos, universities, the list goes on. They REFUSED to go to Vista, all new machines were shipped with it, but got reimaged to their own corporate versions of XP.

I don't know where you've worked, but it sounds like they are small companies, not corporations. Either that or you're blowing it out of your arse.

Slipstreaming your own version is quite common practice, and to justify ANY change in your image as it will impact the company - whether positive or negative. I have yet to see a corporation move to Vista, the cost is too high and the risks too great to justify it. If they are going to sell 7 to corporations they are going to need to fix this mess they call an OS, and fix the upgrade path. Why buy a new machine and 2 OSs when you can buy 1 machine with 1 OS (Mac), or even just 1 OS (Linux).

We're talking about a game that's designed to be interesting (HL2), no matter if there's violence in the game or not it's a cool game.

Meanwhile, if you take something like Saints Row 2, GTA IV, or any of the ultra-violent games out there the study would have completely different findings. Seriously, would it be as much fun to either:

    a) Beat a pedestrian to a pulp and take their cash

    or

    b) Ask nicely and have a random chance of getting a small amount of cash

I'd rather go with option a). Why? Well, these games are fun because the whole game is about being an ultra-violent thug.

Really, these "findings" are made on such a narrow scope with so many factors not taken into account that it's just pure bullshit. I'll keep playing my games for what they are, be it violent, story driven, puzzle or whatever based. They are entertaining because of what they are made for, not what you want to see in them.
