It's a poor translation with little context. It was "youths" -- teenagers and young men.

Oh, well that's OK then, there's nothing wrong with feeding adolescents to bears.

Baldness was a symptom of one of the diseases that would be labeled "leprosy", so this was about equivalent to saying he had AIDS/cancer/whatever (with a much harsher social stigma).

So? Baldness can also be a symptom of old age, radiation sickness, and being lit on fire. Making fun of someone for being bald is OK, but insinuating that they're a leper should be punishable by death?

Also, 42 guys died. I can't be certain, but I doubt that was everyone. A crowd of 42+ young men mocking him would be a serious threat to his life.

I can't be certain either, but they might have been riding dinosaurs. That would be pretty scary, right? No wonder God killed them.

Yes, it's completely idiotic. What these geniuses have done has nothing to do with security - they have created a bad, amateur acting detector that boasts ~80% accuracy.

So we should sell this device to Hollywood instead.
On second thought, scratch that - the device would probably explode within the first 30 minutes of use.

A real programming language unconstrained by weird API restrictions. Whether that runs on NVIDIA hardware, Intel hardware or ATI hardware is really an independent question. Your illegal drugs = seatbelts analogy doesn't really work. Making drugs illegal to protect people from themselves would be more akin to outlawing cars to prevent car accidents. Seatbelt laws are much more similar to the government regulating the sale and use of tobacco and alcohol.
Besides, where do you draw the line? Why are alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine legal and other drugs illegal? And while you're busy protecting people from themselves, what about protecting people from each other? The guy smoking a cigarette beside me on the sidewalk is certainly a greater threat to my health than the junkie shooting heroin in the alley behind me.
