    What if the tip of the key was a switch that activated an RFID mechanism? That way, the RFID would only be transmitting when the key is inserted into the lock.

    If they didn't want anyone to see these pictures that "caused them mental suffering and diminished the value of their property," bringing Google to court was a stupid idea. All they did is ensure that the pictures would get huge exposure.

    Why didn't they just ask Google to remove the pictures? They would have done it without a fight.

    My best guess is that they know this hasn't done anything to their minds or property value. They just want the money.

    Actually disabling Aero manually will not result in a performance increase. When an application enters full-screen mode, DWM essentially shuts down since there are no windows to manage.

    But of course this will get modded down because people here don't want to believe that Vista doesn't suck as much as they think it does.

    Yeah, but only with the overpriced iLube. I tried using my cheaper, better nVidia 9800Glide+ and my Logilube MX518...

    Norton is the worst anti-virus product I've ever used. It's slow and impossible to completely uninstall. I wouldn't take it if you paid me. McAfee is much better, but it still hits performance noticeably on slower computers. The best antivirus software I've used is Eset Nod32. At $59 for a 2 year subscription, it's $15 cheaper than Norton. I replaced McAfee's security suite on my mom's laptop with Eset's. The difference in boot times and load times is amazing. It's easier for her to use too, it doesnt pop up with all sorts of scary messages.

    I don't understand how this lawsuit will get anywhere. The case is arguing that computers that have Vista Capable logos on them CAN run Vista.

    Vista Home Basic is Vista, just a very stripped down version.

    If this lawsuit wins, I think I'll need to go and sue EA because my computer meets the minimum sysreqs for Crysis, but it runs poorly at Very High and looks bad at Low.

    I tried to run my parents in limited user mode, but it only caused problems. You really can't do anything as a limited user. Vista has improved on this a lot with UAC. Users run as limited users, but if something requires administrative access they can temporarily raise the application's permissions (Cancel or Allow).

    Home Basic = XP Home Home Premium = XP MCE Business = XP Pro

    (And possibly Ultimate for those who have too much money to spend on an OS)

    If you are using Adblock, get the Adblock Filterset.G Updater (1). The other option is to get Adblock Plus (2) which lets you subscribe to filter lists (3).

    I think what that law means is that you can't blind an enemy and then kill him, because it gives the enemy no chance to defend himself. I think this is supposed to be a replacement for mace (which is not illegal even though it blinds). It would actually be better than mace because it wouldn't cause severe burning that feels like "having your face drenched in gasoline and lit on fire" [Wikipedia]. It could also be used to replace Tazers and Electrified Water Cannons.

    I also think that you should RTFA. It measures the distance between the target and the light so it can adjust the intensity.

    Yes, and they can be quite useful. steam:\\ can be used in a link so the user's game will automatically start up and connect to whatever IP follows the slashes.

    Gah, Windows, Mac, Linux. What happened to the good ol' days where there was none of this GUI crap. It all just gets in the way. I could type all of my commands way faster than anyone with a mouse could do the same thing. Thats another thing that I can't stand, mice. Who wants to hold something that bears the same name as a nasty animal it their hand? Not me, but the thing that I hate the most about all of these newfangled operating systems is those damn bright, blinding colors. Black and white are the only two colors a computer needs, and not in that crappy way that all the new operating systems do it; white is for text, black is for background. Oh, and another thing, what is this internet garbage people keep talking about. Sounds useless to me. Bah, kids these days don't know the meaning of good operating system.

    But isn't MKV just a container? I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this format just allows you to take any video, audio, and subtitle streams and package them together. The underlying video format would still be WMV and would still require the WMV codec to process the video.
