Does the story right the dreams or do the dreams right the stories?
People are constantly hearing about carpel tunnel and RSI, it's really going to get in their heads. Testing for nerve damage from RSI is a little expensive, even if it's short and easy if a little painful. People aren't rushing out to get this done.
These studies are probably based on "Do your hands hurt when you use the computer a lot?" and how many people say yes? Using keyboards and mice for a really long time hurts, it's just the way it is, but that doesn't mean it's definitely doing damage to you.
This is clearly just Microsoft bullshit. I can say that with full authority because everyone knows everything Microsoft says and does is bullshit.
This makes me think of all the Korean/Japanese/Eastern whatever MMO's I've gotten into. It's wonderful how they're all free to play (though the software is locked up tighter than a... uhh... something really tight), and all they want you to pay for is pretties and occasionally the big boomies that make you pwn.
I've spent a Hell of a lot more money on these donation based MMO's than I ever have on EVE or CoH because it's a business model I can agree with better. I don't have the money to pay one month or I only play once in a while, I have nothing to worry about.
He proclaims the end to gaming piracy, well, ho ho ho! I can fight fire with fire! -I- proclaim gaming piracy will never end, let's see who's right first!
An interesting difference between 'intellectual property' and real property is that two people can create the exact same thing with real property and still each own it themselves and no one can say it isn't theirs.
With 'intellectual property', two people can create the exact same idea but no one can say it belongs to either of them until they prove who came up with the idea first.
Ugh, I have a friend in prison for 'distribution of child pornography' because he got a bot on his computer and didn't find the hidden mIRC directory he didn't create until long after the FBI tagged him. What makes it even worse is there were 5 people in his family that used that computer but he was the one who got carted off for more time that manslaughter because he was the most likely person to be involved because he was the only one who knew how to really use a computer.
I get really frustrated every time I read something about 'the battle for the desktop environment' and stuff. Do that many people really believe there is some contest over which DE is to be the mainstream?
There's no need to throw all the DEs into a melting pot and try to make one thing, people have their own preferences. All that's really getting done at that point is another DE is being made for people to argue over about which is better.
Maybe it's better that way, though... I just feel like a lot of 'uncool kids who just don't get it' jump into the scene and start arguments that don't need to be there.
I would appreciate the freedom for people to be anonymous if it didn't make alot of people into assholes and didn't keep you from knowing which of the people were the same asshole.
I don't think the extremes China takes is comforting, either. The good thing about being anonymous, even when you're using a different name, is you can pretend to be whoever you want to be, and sometimes that just makes talking about what you really need to talk about a little easier.
Has anyone considered that maybe the younger folks like the commercials because they actually do find them informative? Maybe there's a psychological benefit to horrible flash and glamor advertising at that age.
I'm just talking out my ass because I want to post something and have an excuse to stop washing the walls and scraping the gunk out of the part where the hardwood floor sets with the wall. I'm not sure, but I think all the mopping's actually made it worse.
I don't watch TV. I don't mean I just leave it on and ignore it or only take a peek when it's already on, I actively avoid seeing broadcast media. Sometimes there's not much escaping it like at the old folk's home, but I really do hate television so much it makes the veins in my neck bulge when I just think about it.
I do like to watch shows, though. I download House and stuff, and I'd probably buy series on DVD if they didn't cost more than a weeks worth of sustainment.
I almost agree with this, as in there's not a whole lot of reason for me to disagree. I'm not scared of Cyberarmageddon! coming around any corners any time soon, the internet is clearly becoming more and more important and it's already a stiflingly critical resource in the economy of most of the world.
There may not be a whole lot of use for a DDoS attack for defense at the moment, I can see a hundred ways that it can be used as a deterrent. The only problem is that a DDoS will be about as effective at stopping another DDoS as fire is at putting out another fire.
Yes, I do believe that the government should venture into the internet defense/offense force, as long as they stay the fuck out of -my- computer.
And... don't go starting any wars ping-flooding a Chinese server.
I love Microsoft. They give me something new to laugh at almost every day now. I really have/. to thank to keeping me informed on the comical goodness.
I don't need an MRI and a driving simulator to know that when someone gets messed with while they're driving or doing anything that requires focus they're going to do LESS GOOD at it.
I WANT IT. I don't really know why, though...
I thought that was already patented!
... I don't understand what the summary said. Please, someone, explain for me.
Ugh, what a waste.

Correction. Can it blend?
I like the name of the article. It makes me feeling like participating in the GOGO program all of a sudden...

Now if only it was F+OSS!

If carbon nanotubes are supposed to be indestructible the why the Hell is anyone worried about it getting loose and out into the air?
But that was because he was geneticallally engineereded or something! And Raiden is bitchin' u.u

I've always wanted an HMD... now that I've seen this, I think... I would still rather have an HMD.

Are you assuming I'm a man just because I posted on Slashdot? :3
