Japanese cell phone plans are universally calculated by amount of data transmitted and not minutes/# of text messages. It is actually significantly more economical to text message someone on a Japanese cell phone network than it is to call them, as the calls eat up your data allotment very quickly. As a result you will very rarely see people talking on cell phones over there, instead they just text. Of course, as a result they can type of text messages at an astonishing rate.

Wow, you have obviously never been in Japan before. The Japanese educational system can be summarized by the following: Grades 1-12: Relatively tough curriculums with very difficult(but still standardized) entrance exams at each new level of education, with the hardest one being in grade 12 to get into college. College+: Its now party time. Sex, parties, and general social life ahoy. You've done the hard part of getting into college, and no longer have parent's breathing down your neck to succeed(they still do it, just at a distance where it isn't as effective). So why would these Japanese students be doing better at colleges over here? Well, for one, we probably get MOSTLY students from Japan who are actually interested in working hard in college. They also spent their past 12 years learning how to take tests to make our most difficult college test look like it was from grade school.

Actually, they are describing "In absentia" parenting. Don't try and keep track of what your kids are doing. Just find a way to block what you don't want and then let them do their own thing. "Parenting" involves talking to your kids and being involved with their lives. A kid who has true parenting will KNOW what is right and wrong. Oh, and sex? Many kids begin having sexual urges around puberty(which generally hits at the end of elementary school). The typical American approach of "SEX BAD!" really does nothing more than make them more curious and more likely to do something stupid. Although I know it is a foreign concept these days, talking to your kids about it might actually accomplish something.

I have yet to find a video game console emulator that can emulate 100% of the games on that console to 100% their normal performance. There is always SOMETHING that isn't quite right. Some of these have been developed for over a decade, and still they aren't perfected. If all the games for a system were made exactly the same way, it would be easy. But until you are able to get all game developers to do things exactly the same, it will require constant tweaking to get compatability through software emulation.

In Japan, the cell phone plans are for a flat amount of bandwidth. Doesn't matter if it is data, voice, whatever. This does have its drawbacks, however. Almost no one calls in Japan anymore. Because text messaging drains so much less bandwidth than calling, thats all anyone ever does. Admittedly it is becoming more common here in the US as well, but at least we are willing to call someone on occation.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Sony of Japan for sure, and probably Nintendo of Japan, have 0 problems allowing adult only games on their systems in Japan. Know what? They are even on the shelves at game stores with the regular games. Its only Sony of America and Nintendo of America that are placing these restrictions. I must say that this post is the biggest piece of pro-"America Rules!" trash I have seen in a long time. I love how you keep saying "Most Americans" as if you knew what most Americans thought. I'm an American. I'm not very PROUD of that fact recently, but it is there. The only reason I was remotely worried about the Iranian "hostage" situation was because I feared our wonderful "kill em all and let God sort em out" government would use it as an excuse to turn an already 2 front war(Afghanistan and Iraq) into a 3 front war. As they said in one of my favorite book series: "Only an idiot fights a war on 2 fronts. Only a complete madman fights a war on 3." I don't view Islam as a bunch of suicide bombers any more than I view Christianity as a bunch of witch burners. There are unreasonable fanatics in every religion. Then there is good old Israel...Palestine shoots a few missiles at Israel, killing less than 10 people. What does Israel do? They make bombing runs into Palestine, killing almost 100 people. They have committed as many acts of terrorism as Palestine in their private little war down there. I personally don't see any reason why we even support Israel, other than the conspiracy theorists' idea that they have way too much say in what our government does. Oh, and the Swiss also "deny" that the holocaust happened. Are we going to be pointing missiles at them next?
