I bet most of those folks are using older machines that can't use 10.7+. There are a quite a number of Macs that don't make the minimum reqs. Mac OS 10.7 requires a 64-bit CPU. 10.6 was the last to support 32bit. I have a MacBook at home that is stuck at 10.6.
Maybe that might be true for the DS at some point but the Wii had shovelware from the start, piracy and cheating weren't a factor. It's just that most of the game publishers thought the PS3 and Xbox 360 was where all the money was and mostly phoned it in on the Wii. They didn't expect the Wii to be as popular as it was. Once they realized that there was serious money to be made, they made better games as time went on.
The main issue is that everyone is competing against WOW that has had seven years to improve. Everyone's expectations are set to that. You've also got MMO pros (which didn't exist really when WOW launched) who already know how to play games like these. They blow through the content and go "That's it!!? WTF! This game SUX, I'm out of here!" Personally, I'm of the same opinion as Billy. I thought and still think SWTOR is actually pretty decent for a new MMO. They've had a couple years, things are slowly improving and it's starting to stabilize.
It's always going to be on... you can walk into a room and say "Xbox, On." That means it's always going to be watching. It reports back what your watching ("See what your friends are watching."). They've increase the camera resolution enough that they can read your heart rate. Sorry... too freaky for me. It's like a LOTR Palantir... gonna have to cover it with a cloth. Or maybe another metaphor, like an Xbox Hal... me: "Xbox, Switch to Playstation 4" Xbox: "I'm sorry Dave, I can't let you do that."
This is the Introductory price! Good only until June 25th. The price goes to $30/month after the introductory price (the same as existing CS 3 and above customers). "Reduced price through June 25; normally US$29.99/month":P
"In May of 2012, the contest, dubbed the Desktop Factory Competition, debuted on iStart.org, a Kauffman-owned platform for entrepreneurial competitions. Sponsored by Inventables, Kauffman and the Maker Education Initiative, it offered $40,000 from Kauffman and hardware prizes such as a 3D printer from Inventables to the first person or team who submitted plans for an open-source device capable of turning plastic pellets into filament. The rules also mandated that the parts involved could cost no more than $250, priced at a 400-unit quantity."
....
"Buy a kilogram of pellets and make your own filament, and the cost goes down to $10. Buy 25 kilograms of pellets in bulk, and you can print the chess pieces for just $5."
"American laws prohibit any action including hacking that damages Internet security." He added that "to accuse the American military of launching cyberattacks without solid proof is unprofessional and baseless."
That was his mistake. He should have just made the change, initialed it, signed the doc and handed it over. It would have been upon the agent to deny accepting it, who probably wouldn't have batted an eye and taken the doc. By raising it, he brought attention to it... which then caused the problem.
Anyway, any pictures with identifiable images of people in them could be a problem for whichever company purchases the image. Because of model rights you know? If an ad is run which has a person who is clearly identifiable, then in most places a model release is required. And I bet you that Instragram doesn't require that photographers have people sign model releases...
Actually their terms covers them...
Under Basic Terms (7, 8)...

and under Rights (4, 8)...
You represent and warrant that: (i) you own the Content posted by you on or through the Service or otherwise have the right to grant the rights and licenses set forth in these Terms of Use; (ii) the posting and use of your Content on or through the Service does not violate, misappropriate or infringe on the rights of any third party, including, without limitation, privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, trademark and/or other intellectual property rights; (iii) you agree to pay for all royalties, fees, and any other monies owed by reason of Content you post on or through the Service; and (iv) you have the legal right and capacity to enter into these Terms of Use in your jurisdiction.
You agree that Instagram is not responsible for, and does not endorse, Content posted within the Service. Instagram does not have any obligation to prescreen, monitor, edit, or remove any Content. If your Content violates these Terms of Use, you may bear legal responsibility for that Content.
Basically they are saying that all the pictures you've posted are supposed to be free of any issues. If they are not, they are not responsible... you are.
Basically, if they get sued, you get left holding the bag.
So not only they can make money off of you, they give you all the risk.
It is clear that it was done deliberately by Syria... FTFA "In order for a whole-country outage, all four of these cables would have had to been cut simultaneously. That is unlikely to have happened."
My worst fear is that they are going to try either chemical weapons or indiscriminate slaughter (whole towns/cities/women/children/refugees). If those reports got out they would lose what little international support they have from Russia and China, and that would basically be it. All the nations would swoop in with actual forces instead of sitting back and debating sanctions, giving of weapons, etc.
It sounds like this is the end game for Assad. One last major chance to do so much damage that he and his supporters are the last ones standing when the curtains go back up.
I totally agree with you. At times I feel like he is treating it like a video game. He doesn't really seem to care about what he has to do, as long as he can get the President of the United States Achievement unlocked. It's the total lack of empathy that I sense from him that really freaks me out. That's where I get that uncanny valley feeling from him — not because of his wooden delivery (which doesn't help).
Sorry for all those folks that don't have any other option! This also the reason I keep turning down all those 'amazing' Comcast deals... look --> a whole year at $1/month. Yeah, great deal until RCN is out of business and I don't have another option.
You might just want to consider building your next IT center in a shipping container that can be detached and loaded on to a semi. Done properly your UPS and AC systems would keep them alive until you could get to an alternate location with power and network which you should already have contracted for in advance.
Noblesse oblige. I pray for your continuing service as a savior.
Volunteers scraped it all off, buried it above the high water line, and sterilized the top and sides of the dock with torches.
To me that seems like a wasted effort. One barge they cleaned off... so what. There must be thousands/millions of large objects that made it across (docks, boats, motorcycles, etc.) and they think sterilization of it would help. It's like trying to hold back the sea with a bucket. Hope they don't spend too much money trying fight the inevitable. Monitoring- sure. Control- waste of money.
-what you think it means. Nobody feels 'entitled' to a movie.
I've thought about this for quite a bit and I think a better word to throw around is 'opportunity'. For both parties. People have the 'opportunity' to download something they desire for free and somewhat easily vs. paying a lot of money and jumping through hoops. If DRM/no infringment was perfect, I think HBO would still only see a minor uptick in subscribers.
On the other side- it is a missed 'opportunity' to make more money off of something that obviously has a lot of demand at a better price and availability. The math example in the GP (GGP) above is a perfect example of the missed opportunity. Another example- think of the 'Angry Birds' game at $1, loads o cash, very little infringement (who's gonna download a cracked version for a $1 game?), lots of sales.
I think the Game of Thrones will go down in history this year as an example of change in the entertainment history in digital business models; or if they don't, an example of a great missed opportunity by HBO.

Is he a platform? Is he an app?
When there's a 0-day, does he get patched?
Or does the DB get hacked instead?
Nobody knows, Oracle Man.

Well there is your problem... Microsoft is a tank trying to do DPS :D

They mention that you will be able to buy a pre-paid cards. Think World of Warcraft. I see them listed on Amazon already, like this one $150 for three months: http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Creative-Membership-Pre-Paid-Product/dp/B007W76ZLW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1367956834&sr=8-8&keywords=pre-paid+cards

The 'ink' isn't going to be a problem. Someone already thought of that as one of the things that might hold back 3D printing. There is a great article on it: http://techland.time.com/2013/03/04/how-an-83-year-old-inventor-beat-the-high-cost-of-3d-printing/
From the article:
"In May of 2012, the contest, dubbed the Desktop Factory Competition, debuted on iStart.org, a Kauffman-owned platform for entrepreneurial competitions. Sorry... problem should have been in quotes like "problem". :D

Slipped on the pulldown menu and choose redundant by mistake :P

IMHO I think a better thing to do would be to be part of an Angel Action. Fight speech with speech and show community support.

We gave up on that dream a year ago. We now use MathJax, you should check it out. It has a few quirks but overall it's pretty good!

Now all they have to do is turn the fans sideways and they'll have a Manta from Unreal Tournament 2004 :)
Dammint... where are mod points when you need them!

Let me guess... it had a 10-year warranty. See, this is why you need to buy the extended warranty for satellites. ;^)
