Am I the only one who misses the drive-in? Most of the movies I saw during my college years (late 90's) were at the drive-in in the sleepy college town. Wednesday nights were $5 a car-load, so we'd load up a pickup's bed with blankets, beanbags, and recliners, and head to the show. The movies were recent (within 1-2 weeks of release), and the concessions were cheap. The audio was broadcast over FM, so you could crank it as loud or soft as you wanted. You didn't have to worry about people talking or using their cell phones, you were too far away to hear them anyway.
I don't know if the owner ever made much money off of the place, I just think that he liked to see the kids have a good time. That man is my hero to this day.
I'm from the US also, and I think that young kids of any color would qualify for this. Skip movies in the summer, wait until the lil' buggers go back to school.
"Batman Begins" was ruined for me the first time I saw it by two (white, if that's important) fanboys behind me. I mean, I'm a fanboy, but at least I'm a mature, quiet fanboy.
Ditto, couldn't stand Buffy or Angel, despite having a girlfriend that was 'into' it. I could appreciate the humor on the few episodes I saw, but never really 'got' it.
Firefly is something completely different. I was shown the pilot by a friend, and believe it or not, really wasn't interested in it even then. But, over a period between programming contracts, I borrowed the set, sat down, and watched "Train Job". It was better; good characters, fast action, and it all just 'clicked'. By the time I got through "Bushwhacked" and "Shindig", I was hooked.
In this context however, when I read Goldblum's name, the first thing that popped into my mind was Goldblum's made-for-teevee movie about Watson and Crick, named Life Story. Watched it in biology class, it was interesting to see a young Goldblum complete with his sputtering speech style and spastic hand gestures years before he was Dr. Ian Malcom.
Guess we're just lucky. I'm in Tulsa, Oklahoma (which happens to be a bottling plant and distribution center for Pepsi), and I saw all kinds of caps. I don't drink sugar water, but was able to purchase them off of a cola-addicted friend for 3/$1 (he had about 12 of them). I also got a couple given to me by other friends.
Why is this modded to 'Informative'? All the guy said is that he hates cable companies, and SBC "epitomizes all that is wrong with American corporations these days."
That is a broad, pointless generalization that has no purpose. If he backed his statements up with some actual information, I could see it being marked as Informative, but until then, it's just blind opinions.
Aww, crap, I can't get to the site. I thought it was the TI99/4A game also. I envisioned playing it on my iBook but I guess not.
These are the games that they should put on cell phones, Parsec, A-Maze-ing, and all the other great TI games.
What was up with those refuling stops? Anyone ever get the hang of that, or did you all always crash into the ceiling of the bay? Maybe it was just because I was young, but I remember that being incredibly difficult.
I had the exact same thing happen as the original poster, except mine kept coming because I deleted the UserID. You'd think deleting the user would kill this, but it didn't.
Anyway, I called the number listed above, didn't hold for long, and got thru to a person (may have had to do some menu surfing). They had the service shut off the next day, as well as the BillPay service that was hitting my checking account for $2 a month.
So, while the rest of the replies on this thread are talking about small claims court, lawyers, and the like, try the simple thing first.
Same here, but I couldn't stop getting the alerts, because I had deleted the account (mistakenly thinking that would stop them). I kept sending emails, each about 2 weeks apart. After sending 3 emails and getting no replies, I called them. You won't find their number on their site, I had to google them. I think the number I came back with was (408) 349-3300.
Anyway, dialed them, talked for a bit, and it stopped the next day.
Is your sig supposed to read '31337'? If so, you need to flip the last bit to a 1. Right now it means '3l336', which is OK if the message you are trying to convey is that you are a bit short of being 'l33t.
The way I'm hoping this will fall out: 1) Microsoft implements palladium on i386 archetecture. 2) People hate it. 3) People switch to other platforms, namely Macintosh. 4) Linux users still have Yellow Dog, average users have Mac OS.
I actually had a 386 DX (32 whole bits). Started out with 4MB of RAM, eventually expanded to 8. I did eventually get a mathco for it, seems like it was an IIT. That thing rocked.
This takes me back. I had POV-Ray that I ordered out of a shareware catalog, back before the Web was everywhere. Seems like it came on 6 floppies or something like that.
I remember leaving my 386-25 on for days at a time to get through one 640x480 rendering. That takes me back.
Or the Compact Disc disc.

Go here and buy the DVDs. You won't regret it.

...sleep deprived, drugged up monkeys running amok.
Wow, you suck as a theologian.
I believe the quote was, "Life, uh, finds a way".

I was wondering if anyone else read it that way...
I ran my iBook with OS X and my pc with Win2k and Linux. That is, until I realized I was only using the iBook. I sold the PC on eBay.

I hear this one...
Yo know the brunette with the smooth skin? Yes, it's too good to be true, but she does like you.
If you wait too long, she goes out with your brother, dimwit.

Geez, I don't think I ever knew that. Now, 18 years later, I find out. Where's that TI...
FLAC? Xiph? Ogg Vorbis? Narf!
Try saying that out loud, see what your co-workers do.

Looks like Mozilla is aware of the bug (bug #169620), and it may just be on 1.2 alpha.
Anyone else notice how CNN's webpage now looks auful in Mozilla? What the &$%# did they do to it? Do they look at other browsers?
Who modded this guy up?
Regex's aren't useful because you don't use them on the Internet? What kind of argument is that?

Hey, stop laughing.
