Right, except in this case the sales people said that they were having trouble keeping them in the stores. Every time they got a new shipment, they'd sell out within a few days. Doesn't exactly sound like a dead system.
I decided to buy a GameCube last week. I went to *every store in Brooklyn* trying to find one. None of the game stores, none of the electronics stores. After about two hours I finally got to Toys-R-Us, which happened to have 2 in stock. No memory cards, though. Had to go back to Gamestop to get that.
Sheesh. It was worth it, though. I love the thing.
Don't forget CoffeeGeek. Tons of information on every method of coffee making imaginable.
I'm lucky to have a rockin' espresso machine at home and use a pour over Mellita cone at work with a small burr grinder. Most important - hot water (just off the boil) and fresh ground, freshly roasted beans. If you can find a store that roasts regularly, you're on your way. Whole Foods is particularly good.
Nooooooo! Not the T300. I have one. What a piece of crap. Weak vibration, poor ringer, you name it, it's got it. My old Samsung was 10 times the phone, I plan on getting replacing the Sony Ericsson as soon as I can.
I don't think they're LCD's, but something similar to DLP's. It was in the New York Times, but I haven't heard anything about it from the CES reports yet, and the Times article is no longer available on the web. Too bad...can't wait to hear about it.
PC Magazine calls video performace "spotty". I was not referring to "internet streaming", but of the many reviews for these 802.11b media hub type devices, which almost always reference the poor video quality.
Yeah, but the wireless Gateway model only supports 802.11b. I hear that streaming videos suck. The Linksys is exactly what I've been waiting for...if it's under $300 and will play DVD+RW, I'll get it the day it's released.
True, that. About 3 months ago, I dropped my iPod about 3 feet to a hard tile floor, dented the back significantly, and no problems yet. I guess it wasn't seeking at the time - I suppose that would have been a problem.
"Even many arguments on Spymac were that the new iPod would be sub $99 with 5GB of flash memory. Is that even possible?"
Not possible. For 99 dollars retail the best you could do is 256 or maaaaaybe on the way outside 512. The cost of the memory alone is several hundred dollars a gig.. Most likely, it would be a very small hard drive like the Cornice that holds 1.5 to 2 gigs. The cost on those in bulk is low enough that the final product could sell for less than $200.
Not sure if anyone recommended these yet - they fit in your ear canal and block out all external sound. They sound great and the cord goes down the back to stay out of your way.
From what I understand, Apple instituted a replacement program about two weeks *before* the video hit the 'net. The two gentlemen decided to release it anyway, cause they knew it would generate tons of press.
I remember a study that came along, not too far back, that said that when the home team won, the fans got laid. Your team lost? No sex for you! No useful purpose? I'd call that perpetuation of the species, for those that align themselves with the right team. Me? I'm a Marlin's fan.
While they may not be the most in-depth reviews, NewEgg.com has Amazon.com style forums for each of the cases they sell. I took to the forums and found a case that seemed to be well liked -- it's now sitting in my office and I love it!
"Free as in beer"...at least Opera and a rare few others are still making their own browser software and charging for it -- and it looks like they're still getting by. Bully for them! I say, keep doing it!
Here here! I love the Firebird/Phoenix/Whatevernametheycomeupwithnext browser. Ever since 0.3 or so, iIt has replaced my need for almost everything else except the very rare site that "does not support Netscape browsers", for no reason. It almost never crashes on me anymore (it's been pretty stable since 0.4 or so) and the new skin that comes with it is pretty rad too -- people sitting near me are always asking "what's that browser you're using?" I feel like taking near total credit just for knowing what a browser is, and now they're asking about Firebird? Right on!
Based on my recent experiences with Dell (I manage a network of roughly 100 Dell desktops and 20 Dell laptops), Apple is not only freakishly lenient, they're also in the minority. Dell has done absolutely nothing that they didn't have to do to fix a computer. 1 day out of warranty? Too bad. Had it for 31 days? Can't return it, and getting it fixed is a pain in the ass. I only wish that they would follow Apple's lead and be just a little more helpful, considering that the "just small enough to pass under their radar" customers are getting jacked at every opportunity. And oh! if only I could get a tech support person with a reasonable facility with English!
We've started buying IBM laptops lately and have had half the problems. Pretty soon, I'm going to start looking at another vendor for desktops as well....
Not only are established artists like Sting doing commercials these days -- it's not uncommon for up and coming indies like The Shins and The Moldy Peaches to do commercials as a way to push their music and make a little money as well. I can't say that I love it, but if they're cool with it, then whatever...
I have a Hong Kong version of the original Episode IV on DVD. It actually looks quite nice, better than VHS. I'm guessing that it was a Laserdisk rip.
I'm a big fan of Sunshine as well. I'm also enjoying Eternal Darkness a hell of a lot.

On that note, just imagine a Pixar version of the Simpsons. Now *that* would be incredible.

"PS2 was the *first* backwards-compatible gaming console in history."
Ahem. Atari 7800? Lot of good that did them, sure, but it did run the 2600 games.

Except those that are simply "f1rst p0st! W00T!"
Those aren't funny at all.
Try using an MX forwarder such as the one offered by dyndns.org to get around the sticky blocked port 25 issue.

yes, but the car in the ad has the steering wheel on the right side - someone watching in the US would be sure to notice...

At least we don't have to go back and change the acronym.
