That's what those cash cards at the bank are for. Load it up with $10 or so and use that. If the number is stolen it's no good since all the money is already used up.
Physical beauty? If that's a factor, then the iPod fails miserably. That sickening, ultra-bright white Apple slathers all over their hardware makes my eyes burn.
OTOH, I like how the Zen Micro offers a variety of colours...
In graphic design (including web) clear white space is a powerful tool.
The site isn't really a design piece, it should be trying to relay textual information, and in that case they should use as much of the page as possible while still being readable.
It's like a library with 24' walls and only 14' of shelving per wall. Kind of a waste.
I was one of the TiVO users selected for this program, but since I work in advertising I was disqualified pretty early in the interview process. I was really looking forward to it too.
Ok, let me put it another way. The people who are running these mostly got to where they are by conning marks, not through any traditional business sense. They tend to be degerates and huge marks themselves. Once the business reaches a certain level of acceptance they don't have to keep up with the backroom bullshit, but they don't know any other way and end up pissing a lot of people, both partners and customers.

I think poker is as much of a fad as professional wrestling. Some generation of college kids "discovers" this somewhat dark pasttime and thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, the industry is then flung into the mainstream but can't escape it's seedy roots and collapses under it's own weight. Remember, these businesses aren't exactly run by Mary Poppins. By that time, whoever hasn't moved on with their life either goes "Boy, this is pretty fucking stupid, what the hell have I been doing? Time for a new hobby." (majority) or they're hooked for life (minority). A few years later a generation who were too young to remember the previous wave "discovers" it and the cycle begins again.
At my work we have a guy in a motorized wheelchair. One of his duties is to archive our files to CDs and DVDs, so his computer was the one equipped with the Superdrive (DVD-R, CD-R, etc). Now at this time there was only the one Macintosh that came with that thing. Also, we keep our computers on the floor to save on desk space. Well, the drive was open, and he went to move his wheelchair to get a new CD and caught the open drive tray and pulled the whole thing right out, tearing up all the plastic gears on the inside. We gave him and external firewire drive on his desk after that. Afternote: I did manage to open the drive back up and glue the gears back together and re-insert the tray and the drive is still working.
Ok, block any IM content on port 80, and they move to port 443, that's HTTPS, encrypted.
Hold on now, just because something is using port 443, which also happens to be the standard HTTPS doesn't mean that it's automatically encrypted. Both sides of the connection have to be using an agreed upon encryption method. If they IM program was going to jump to port 80 just to run encryption, it could've done it just as easily on port 80. It's probably using 443 because that's the next "most-common" available port since port 80 was blocked.
I did 'view source' on both those sites, and BOTH of them still use tables. So what's your point exactly?
What's your point? The parent asked for one big commercial site that didn't use tables for layout. Neither of those sites do. Tables are still valid for tabular data. And the tables used on those two sites are from the blocks used by the advertisers and have nothing to do with the layout of the sites, which is all CSS.
1. Get Microsoft Diary Gadget thing and PDA wrist watch. 2. Attract females with new tech. 3. Microsoft device automatically records you "getting more @ss than a toilet seat" 4. Open pr0n site / moblog with captures from device. 5. PROFIT!
Most of all this hubbub from Darl was that if managed to get four straight profitable quarters then he would get a fat bonus. A loss this quarter is a major, major setback.
I was quite impressed when I managed to get Doom 2 to run on my 386sx-16 with 2mb of RAM through Win 3.1 with MagnaRAM installed. I had the screen size down to the minimum and it ran at like 2fps, but it ran, dammit!
That is truly childish. The real assholes at SCO are the suits and money-grubbing lawyers responsible for this charade. A code monkey in the trenches who needs a job to pay the bills isn't necessarily an enemy of open source.
One could argue that by continuing to work for SCO the applicant was willfully helping violate the GPL and copyright laws. The applicant put personal gain over the community and there for no different than the lawyers. I agree that it is a very difficult decision to make in the current economy, but it's still a showing of character.

Some guy has done this already here's his site (it seems to be down at the moment?). But not to make this post completely worthless, here's a guy who made a raid out of floppy drives.
They never used "///" again, or any roman numeral above it.
I don't know about that. My LC III at home begs to differ.

Newsflash! The Apple iPod is now available in a variety of colours
The iPod Shuffle is pack-of-gum sized, no screen,, weighs less than an ounce... and no screen
That's all well and good, but does it have a screen?

Or you can try a series 2 Tivo with the Home Media Option
I was told by Verizon two years ago that a phone with Bluetooth would be available in "a couple of months".
My nitpikc nerves are ready and waiting to have their seizure.
It's spelled "nitpick".
And Ellen feels she's above the dell dude
Q: Do you feel any connection to the Dell dude?
Ellen: No, none whatsoever. That guy's a doofus.

I had similar problems, but I traced it to extensions that didn't handle the upgrade very well. Try creating a new fresh profile.
dude, that's a lot of pr0n.

well, leo hasn't been on the screensavers in about a month. so i guess you're already out of there.

Ah ha!

Correct, it's unlikely that you're going to have a bunch of xbox games you want to play unless you already have an xbox sitting around somewhere.
Yeah, but Blockbuster will have a bunch of xbox games sitting around that I might want to play.
