With Bush in charge, the 'Free' in 'Land of the Free' means more freedom to spy on people and less for the people themselves.
I'm do not hate the USA, but the politics need to change, and fast.
I might be European, but this affects my friends in the States! All US readers: Vote all but Conservative in 2004 please.

True, in the beginning the type of camera doesn't matter... after some time, it will matter. You will want to play around with the shutter and aperture. You will try other lenses. Once you start with enlargements, you'll see why it's worth paying a bit more for the lens. I have a total of 4 camera's, the most reccent one is the Nikon N80 (F80 in Europe, don't ask me why). This is going to be my last camera with 35mm film. Next switch is the Nikon D2H (digital reflex camera), I fell in love. Some of my work.
Tip: if you shoot B/W, buy a red filter:-)
If I'm not mistaking, ISP's have to keep the logs for several years by law (at least in Belgium they have to). That way they can still trace a cracker/scriptkiddy or a stupid thief like the one in the story months, even years after their actions. In the federal building I used to work, we even needed to keep the proxy log (with date/time, login-id and visited sites)for 5 years... go imagine.
Will the owner of the website talking about master/slave connections in computers please update his/her website? (note: his/her is not suggested as a replacement) Please contact the L.A. Department of justice for futher information.
Does this mean that the nice and clean look of google will change to green/blue with Microsoft logo's everywhere?
Does this mean that you will have to click "I agree" before doing a search?
Does this mean that if you search Microsoft Google, for 'linux' you will get the same results as a search on msn these days? linux search on msn instead of Google without MS?
I'm very sure Apple will bring out the patches. If they didn't they would lose a lot f trust in their community and I would no longer think of buying an iBook myself. Apple isn't cheap, but they have good hardware and Panther is, as far as I can judge it, a very nice example of friendly unix. They can't continue without bringing out the patches.
I'm the owner of a Nikon N80 35mm film camera. I have tried several digitals, but I bought this film camera instead. All my films are developed on CD. I must say the results are good: an example. All the black&whites are shot with 35mm film. The nice thing is, when i'm in the dark room, I can mess around with stuff you don't find in the Gimp nor in Photoshop. I'm a techie... but when it comes to pictures... 35mm film rules if you ask me. The best digital camera is one with exchangable lenzes, but when i comes to photography, i prefer film.
as far as I can be the judge on this, I don't care what Microsoft thinks about Linux. They see Linux as a danger, we just want stability in our OS. Linux isn't around to compete with Microsoft as far as i know. As long as Microsoft doesn't boycot Linux, I'm fine with whatever Balmer is saying. I'm passed the Linux is better then Windows thing. If Windows would fit my needs, I would have used Windows. If people using Windows have security problems, don't look at me, I'm not going to tell them to make the switch. (I'm not the tech support kinda guy, because that's what you get if you urge people from Windows to Linux, it's another level of thinking. Just try to explain why you have to mount a CD before being able to see what's on it)
Next thing you know, Michael Moore's website will be on that list. Some of you may worry abot the freedom of speech on the internet, I think we should worry in a larger scale. I'm lucky I'm not a US citizen: I don't want my site to be on that list because I question a lot of international politics on it. That Partriot Act is designed to end the freedom of speech, wether on the internet or in real life (ok, for some of us, including myself, the internet is real life).
Just wonder if we can do anything about it?
I can't help the fact that, for me, a book still feels better then an electronic piece to read from.
Nothing can beat the feeling I get from sitting in a corner of my livingroom with a little light and holding and reading a good book. For one, the smell a book can have is something i'll never get out of a piece of electronics.
I remember reading about a newwspaper, printed on what feels like real paper, but is in fact something electronic that can be reused a couple of times.
How nice would it be to have an empty book of let's say 400 pages, you plug it your computer and download a couple of chapters of The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy on it. When done, download the next part.
I have been working for a comapny that does the wage calculations for empoyees in companies like BASF and Siemens... I had, as a UNIX admin/Oracle DBA, rights to search every paycheck in the databases. It's normal that some people have access to those kind of things.I think it's all a matter of ethics. My manager would look up people who earned thousands of euro's a month. I didn't care.
People who have access to such information should have ethics and companies handling information that is so sensitive should select their administrators very carefully. The fact that this person did make abuse of his/her rights to that information is a big mistake, made by that company in my opinion.
I can't see why Gentoo has to change to using RPM.
The reason I don't like using Redhat or SuSE and have always been using Slackware is partly because of the RPM packaging. In 2002 I switched to using Gentoo (Slackware made me used to compiling;-) , but now, I have a strange feeling...
this is just like blaming Micro$oft when a scriptkiddy made a new virus... hang on... M$ CAN be blamed for security wholes... so I don't see how Amnesty is angry with Bill. If any stuff get's in/out China we WILL know what company is to blame.
I can understand the question. But keep in mind that the Egyptians had some very evolved knowledge in carving stuff (amongst other cool stuff). Like the big black vase they made with an interiour that is symmertical. Or sarcophagae made out of such hard materials that we now should have to use diamond drills to make it look that smooth.
Go Bobby... Go fetch Osama for Uncle Sam
I'm sticking to my good old HP 48G... nothing better.
Will the Linux pack for PS2 be the China Red Flag Linux version?
I think Illiad has the best way of putting it: here

Well, since they all RUN the kernel... try them all ;-)

Like a "A high-ranking Thai official ... Thailand's finance minister" would drive a 10-year old beemer? euh... nope I don't think so.

it's too hot for normal ice on the sun... i bet what they saw was dry ice.
Does this also block the "application crashed - send error report to microsoft" popups?

I would like to see some case modding for this wooden box.

a tar.gz of a wget I took of the internet last week.

OK, that's it... there goes my social life (or the bit I had left)
