    I'm glad they're slowly tidying up the interface. My current pet peeve is the default icon set is really ugly. I know that you can replace it, but when I look at the KDE screenshots I don't get excited at the improvements to the interface or to Konq. I am put off by how ugly it looks with the icon set.

    Is this why my 200Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA drive (ST3200822AS?) hangs in Linux and Windows? It happens under load and doesn't return within 30s, so I usually have to hit the reset switch.

    Also, the drive is very CPU intensive, even on my MSI NEO2 M/B. So overall, it's really annoying - wished I'd bought a PATA drive instead. Damn SATA.

    Know your facts - not all geeks, hackers and open source die hards have or need kickass graphics cards. You don't need a kickass graphics card if you're developing say an open source text editor.

    Their plan isn't to be friendly to the open source world. Their plan is to make a great product, which just so happens to be based upon open source. Remember their focus is Apple, not KDE.

    The funny thing is, I watched the originals while growing up and thought they were fantastic. Now I think they're just crappy films that are fun to watch.

    Maybe I'll think the same about the first three in 20 years time. No surely not!!!

    My first comment on Kubuntu is that they should reverse the text in the menu items, so that the description is first (e.g. Web Browser) and the application name is in brackets (e.g. Konqueror). I don't recognise most of the names in the menu, so I have to scan along to the description.

    Of course, this works well if there is only one of each type of app - e.g. one text editor, one IRC client, one IM app etc...

    And if he did indeed come up with these ideas in 1995, erm, buddy it's now 2005. What have you been doing since then?

    Surely the way it works is that you come up with a new idea, patent it, market it and license it.

    You don't "come up with an idea", watch as the rest of the world has the same idea, and then sue!

    Heck, I first thought of First Person Shooters back when the Sinclair Spectrum first was born, but I can't patent it now and make money. How can I prove it?

    This is utter bullshit - as you say what else can you expect from a company called Pat-Right.
