Anybody seen White Stripe's "Fell in Love With a Girl" video? Made entierly out of Lego's, using real Lego set, not CGI, as I thought first. You can see it here, along with some info of how it was done.
Slashdot could use a system like that :)

No one wants MP3 in their phone. How are you going to listen to music and answer the phone? No siree, we are much better off with pda+phone integration, why should we store information in one gadget, talk into another? My point is, don't apply YOUR preferences upon anyone, just because you don't want this, it doesn't mean that no one wants this. J.
The sounds really made that game. The hoofed deamon really scared me, even though it was behind a wall in another room. If Doom III will be like people are saying, more creeping around scared shitless rather that running like mad around with a rocket launcher, well then I will be first in line for it!
I want Tivo, simply. But we don't have (and probably never will have) program listings for local tv stations. Is unconnected Tivo useful? could it replce my VHS VCR? (I loathe VHS!). Just wondering...
"Personally, I've been furious with them since CDs came out costing twice as much as cassette tapes, despite the fact that they are many times cheaper to produce. I understand the theory that says I'm paying for the superior quality of CDs (yes, I agree that "quality" is a factor in price), but when the other major factor in "price" (that is: "cost to produce") is less than a thenth the cost to produce the other product, why am I paying two to three times as much?"
Don't you people know anything? How do you think prices of a product is set? Do you really think it's something like fixed_cost + variable_costs * 1.2? No, it's something like "To break even, we need to sell each sprocket @ $2, but the optinum price is $20, much higher and the sales will start to decline...". So as long as we buy their overpriced DVD's, the price is not going down. However, the Internet could change that.
Have you thought about the real costs? Yes, tracks are expensive, but so are airports. I have no idea how much an average airport costs, but they are probably one of the most expensive community projects you can get. And they are expensive to maintain too. And then there is the cost of the airplanes. Aircraft are very expensive to build and maintain, much more than trains. The most expensive train in the world is the Eurostar at $40,000 a seat. Most aircraft by comparison are $200,000 per seat! And don't get me started about fuel efficency. Hurling few hundreds passengers in tonnes of metal up to 10km height!? Just think how much fuel that wastes. Airplanes have their uses, I doubt trains will ever replace airplanes on coast to coast routes, but they could work on something like the Boston-Wasington route. But I guess the airlines are quite good at lobbying, wasn't there a mag-lev project in Texas that was cancelled due to airline lobbying? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
This is just what I need for my parents. They have rickety wireless phone (around 10km) and are lucky if they get over 28kbs connection. ISDN will probably never be available there (and I'm not even dreaming about xDSL). Just put up ISDN in some residence in the nearest town, 2 atennas, and voila, decent connection. I do hope that this is for real, I would be ready to try it out.
This is fun and whatnot, but SFW? You have full access to the kernel and everything, so what an excellent way of spending your weekend. A company that I work for, is hacking Linux to work on a embedded medical device eg. Do you have to mount/dev/cashdrawer?

So much for USA technical superority... Silicon Valley may be the place to be, but the general public seem to be more 'rednecky'.

-1 Troll, definetly.
Before making an idiot of your self!

Mint condition. Only 10 kilograms of sloppy wet cowshit per CD. This week only!

This is for people who use clueless virus software. I use the russian AVP from Kaspersky. Simple, and it just works.

I can get Athlon XP for this amount! Why buy a Hz computer when you can get GHz for the same price.

What next here at apple.slashdot.org? Faster iMacs coming? With bigger hard drives? More memory? Heaven forbid that Apple updates their models!
Why would I have to write AA support into the application? Isn't that a OS feature? Am I missing something?
I sometimes fast forward over the boring bits of a show. (Say some silly romantic in Star Trek) Does this means I can no more?

Yup, Orwille almost got it right. It will be the corporations, not the goverment that will be the totaltarian.
Well, professonal photographers aren't afraid of throwing USD8000 at a new Canon 1D, so why are we? (Obviously, we are not in the right business :))
Java, Exteme Programming, Open Source. The title rings some warnings bells...
It's the employees themself. It really doesn't matter if you use copy.com eða cp to steal corporate data, does it?
Like that Japanese student, who was dressed as Elvis for some costume ball, and got shot when asking for directions... Guess how that went..
Just a thought. Weren't we talking about that fortnight ago?
