The best FF 6 (3 in US) glitch was the Vanish->Doom. Because Vanish caused all spells to hit (and all melee to miss) you could Vanish anything in the game (bosses included) and then cast Doom on it for an instant kill.
I played pro CS for years (with the guy who went on to buy http://teampandemic.net/). And, I have to say, the people watching the matches are generally the people who harbor dreams of playing in the matches. It's not like your dad watching football knowing that he won't ever be able to compete at a pro level. It's people who believe that at some point they will be as good as the people playing.
I have to agree. When I was facing INVESTIGATION, not even charges, for CP it cost me ~6k in lawyers fees. It never went to prosecution (it happened at my IP but not on my computer, never have a lan party!) and I still had to fork over ~6k to my lawyer.
It was worth every single penny and I would do it again.
The problem with this argument is that if the disease is beaten into submission, it actually has less chance to mutate and grow. It's evolution on a micro scale.
I'm hardly going to say the GP of this was right. However, any *GOOD* parent who was informed of this man's interest in CP would be smart enough to just keep their kids away from him.
You don't have to rely on the police to do that job for you.
And, yeah, I'm a parent. But, I have had horrible experiences in my late teen years with CP investigators, feel free to read my post history where I have commented on this before.
The reason most interviewers don't care so much about degrees is the assumption that you have one. Having a degree, or the work experience, is pretty much assumed in the hiring process. You wouldn't be there wasting their time if you didn't, so they can focus on the more important issues (can you do the job?).
To the original question, just get the degree. Quit trying to take the "fast" way out. That may sound harsh, but most everyone else in the field has 2 or 4 years of the skills (and more importantly, learning how to learn) that is taught in a uni.
Don't think that just because you like to dabble in computers in your free time that you match up to a person with a degree. I'm sorry, but I thought that way, too. Back before I got my degree and realized just how much of an ass I was for making those assumptions.
It would be nice to be able to do that. But, for most people like myself, we have to plan everything around how we are going to support ourselves for the next 25 years. I went to college, busted ass, and now I have a good job for my area (yeah I'm in a CS career). I respect why you would go "just to further your education", but I have to pay the bills.
Maybe I'll go back some day and study something fun (Mathematics), maybe not.
I have to disagree. Tanking is fun, and most people will tell you they would rather be out in the front calling the shots. Well, maybe not most, but at least more than the 20% that we need. It really is a gear problem.
Take for example my two chars. I have an spriest and a prot war. My spriest was doing heroics in laughable 70 gear. My warrior, in full 70 blues and a few epics, has trouble in heroics unless there is a fully epicced healer. And, you tell me I have to drag this healer around to 20+ different runs (only one per day, too, mind you) to even have a chance of getting any of the tanking gear I need? No thanks.
The best option I ever found was to OT kara, or go as a DPS fury build.
Conversely, for my spriest, I was easily able to go to kara/heroics and quickly build up gear (DPS had very small issues with scaling to heroic/raid), on top of my tailored FSW and Spellstrike.
As long as he doesn't try "In Vas Flam". I think that could be bad. If he eats some really bad nachos before launch he could always try "In Nox". Damnit, now I feel like a complete nerd (as opposed to a half-ass nerd).
You apparently have never read the complaints by the big Media companies about how shelf space at Walmart has caused them to drastically decrease prices. Blizzard has nothing on any of the large distributors, and if they want shelf space, they have to compete with toothpaste and diapers the same as everyone else.
Not me. It's not the judicial branches job to make legislation, and every time they do they make more power for themselves. I'm glad when they do like this judge and simply strike something down. I'm sad when they do you like you suggest and "pushback".
Congratulations, you just describe the almost 11 year old Ultima Online. (It still amazes me that so many people ask for these things, but don't realize this game has most, if not all, of them).
I never played Eve. But, almost all of my old Ultima Online contacts went over there. It is truly the spiritual successor to UO.
Having said that, the GP definitely summed it up when he said you have to have a different mind frame. This isn't a solo game, and those other players are REAL competition with REAL consequences. That's more than half the fun, not being a "mini-God".

And, hilarity.
Holy shit, a comment by NYCL on an RIAA article and it's not modded +5? Someone get me a calendar so I can mark this!
I kid, I kid. I really do appreciate the insight you bring around here.
Bah, anyone who has ever made the mistake of going there knows that it's *chans.

You mean == right? Because for a minute there I thought we were doing an assignment in the logic...
Wait a minute...crap!

I was hoping we could have another funny "I have nostalgia for UO!" thread. It's been a while since the Garriot goes to space one that kept me going.
And, uh, In Vas Flam!
It would be nice to be able to do that. But, for most people like myself, we have to plan everything around how we are going to support ourselves for the next 25 years. Somebody lied to you.
Pretty damn hard when that clock is attached to a $10million machine that is expected to have 99.9% uptime.
PS. Thanks for the all the extra overtime I didn't get paid for while updating all our servers last year when you changed DST
There are still bank sitters in UO. 11 years after the fact.

Let's hope so, I haven't seen a good bug on there in a long time.

If they can find a way to make un-standard porn on this, it will sell even better...

Not if you have the old AVG installed...
