The page you read up upon doesn't talk specifically about the Icelandic Pirate Party. There is very little connection between the Pirate Party in different nations and that Wikipedia page is an outstanding example to why you shouldn't use Wikipedia as an example.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P... Not that it takes too long to find the appropriate page, though it's actual information is fairly thin, and apparently they have only been around since the end of 2012.

Why aren't the 'good cops' turning in their corrupt, violent and evil coworkers?

Sorry, until I see more exposure of bad cops from within their departments, I'm lumping the 'good cops' in with the bad cops.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

I think the words of Edmund Burke sums it up pretty nicely.

  3. Re:Finally on Nintendo Unveils Wii MotionPlus · · Score: 1

Metroid Prime 3 and RE4 were both great examples of well done Wii games, but in contrast to them are plenty other pitiful shooters that have poorly coded and handled motion controls. Take the rail shooter Ghost Squad for example.

Any problems people may have with the Wii controls are more than likely due to a particular game, and not to the Wii itself.

LostWinds, released on WiiWare a month or so back was a great example of using the wiimote in a successful way. For a 3-5 hour game, its easily one of my favorite games on the Wii to date.

DBZ: Budokai Tenkaiechi 3 is the name of the DBZ game that was released at the launch of Wii and it has pretty good support of mapping arm movements to traditional DBZ attacks... though only for dashes and special moves, most everything else is button combos. Not a bad game overall... if your a DBZ fan.

  10. Re:Turn everyone into criminals? on Spore, Mass Effect DRM Phone Home For Single-Player Gaming · · Score: 1

If first off this feature is as bad as it sounds, and ME/Spore do indeed ship with this 'big brother' DRM scheme, its going to piss off a decent number of people. If enough people say something then maybe they can do to this DRM as was done to the dreaded StarForce (enough people talked to Ubisoft that they finally stopped using it in their products, and now few games ship with it).

Also, as a previous poster mentioned, Stardock definitly has the right idea with 0 copy protection. GalCiv 2 was a great TBS game, and has quite the underground following, and with the recent success of Sins of a Solar Empire, one can only hope that their approach to publishing games opens more eyes in the industry.

  14. Re:No permadeath on World of Warcraft - Wrath Of the Lich King Is In Alpha · · Score: 1

Final Fantasy Online had a fairly good approach to a more painful death. A small variation on the loose xp when you die, they allowed you to level down when you die, even at level cap... so if you have a bad day, you might hit the same level 4 or 5 times, or loose a level or two. It was annoying as hell, but was enough of consequence to keep a certain edge to the game.

  15. Re:Copyright? Maybe not, but maybe trademark? on Blizzard Sues Creator of WoW Bot · · Score: 1

I would imagine the WoW engine itself is written in C++ as most commerical level games are, while the higher level components, such as the customizable UI, Addons and other components are written in LUA and XML. If Glider required the .NET 2.0 components, then it makes it that much harder to show the code was copied, as anything less than C# doesn't require .NET at all. From the screenshots I've seen of Glider looks like a VB or C# Project, which further weakens Blizzards stance. It would be nice to see an end to the botters, or at least a decreased amount of them, but this isn't the right way to approach that. At least not in my opinion. And sadly as another post pointed out, it's a problem that really can't be real-world solved, as the number of players will always outnumber the number of producers by leaps and bounds, making it a losing battle.
