Everyone seems to forget that we aren't the customers, we're the product. This is all about increasing the quality of their data for their real customers.
I made an post on reddit detailing the swarm that I hope to make. Slashdot seems like a better place to get feedback from though, so please feel free to tear apart my plan!
You're misrepresenting the trend, while PS3 has caught up with the 360 in the sale of some games, it has in no was surpassed the xbox 360 in all areas.
Examples Include (using the same site as you, vgcharts.com):
CoD:MW2
PS3 sales:7.82m
x360 sales: 10.69m
BF:BC2
PS3 sales:1.40m
x360 sales: 2.05m
NBA 2K10
PS3 sales:0.64m
x360 sales: 0.75m
Major League Baseball 2K10
PS3 sales:0.64m
x360 sales:0.06m
Just Cause 2
PS3 sales:0.40m
x360 sales:0.42m
As you can see, PS3 is in no way "destroying" the xbox 360 in terms of game sales.
I've seen that but I'm hoping for an all-inclusive list, there are updates that I've noticed that aren't listed there so I would think there are others too.
I've tried to find a list of the new features but I can't find anywhere with what looks like a complete one. Anyone want to help me out here? All I've noticed are that things look slightly different and then a couple things here and there.
More people, smaller payments. There was a music industry exec talking about a service that allows people to listen to music jukebox style either for free with ads or with a subscription sans ads.
I would say a 360 is more similar to a computer tower than anything else, would you even dream of moving yours around while it was on with disks spinning? The thought of doing so has always made me cringe.
From my personal observations there are some people who get lots of problems with their 360 and others who don't seem to get any. From as far as I can tell, my friends who keep their systems in a well ventilated places laying flat have almost no problems (even with frequent weekend play sessions lasting 15+ hours [yes, sad, I know]). The only 3 of my friends who have had disk scratching problems all have their systems standing vertically. The people who seem to get the RRoD bimonthly keep their systems in small spaces, and while nothing is directly blocking the vents there isn't any circulation through to keep the air surrounding the console cooled.
I realize that this is no excuse for bad design but the people who are constantly having their 360 break down are simply not doing anything to prevent it. I realize its fairly stupid that you can't safely use the console when its in the vertical position when thats how its advertised but I would think that the fact thats its not even that stable in that position should have kept most people from doing so. (even a minor bump can bring it crashing down)
On another note, to the people who say that it is a design defect that it will scratch disks if moved, I ask if you would say the same about a normal computer? They are essentially the same thing on the inside and everyone I know (literally no exceptions) would be horrified at the thought of moving a computer (not a laptop) while it was even just plugged in.
Actually they updated the guide menu (that you often interact with in nearly every game) and the addition of the cross-game party system was a very nice addition. But yes, it does take some getting used to.
The old blade system has been turned into the new guide menu, just with all the useless extras stripped out. While I myself don't like having to relearn where everything is, I think its an improvement overall.
Quite a few of them should have been implemented long ago but if nothing else, this makes the xbox just that much better. Its not mentioned in the summary but the new party system is awesome; I can chat with all my friends at the same time even if someone has to leave and come back, and we don't even have to go through all the menus. While this update may not be too newsworthy for many out there, for people like me who play their 360 far too much (left 4 dead ftw atm!) this is a huge increase in overall functionality.
I actually like 07 better now that I've relearned where they moved everything around to, things actually seem like they're where they "should" be. Of course the process of relearning everything was not pleasant.
Yes! As someone who enjoys over the top violence and all other things of that nature you'd think I'd be the last person to enjoy Animal Crossing but alas, I do. I think its one of those games most people would enjoy but many people just don't seem to want to admit it, that or I'm totally off and a 100% certifiable lunatic. (both seem equally likely)
on a slightly related note, bit bath programming IS the game. I'm admittedly not too good at it but the idea of competitive programming is just too fun in concept.
I've got a DS and play that much more than any other of my gaming systems, I've actually got some faulty buttons now from overuse. In fact, the DS the only platform I break my cardinal rule of game purchases, never buy a game without good multiplayer.
Today its spider and goats, tomorrow its men, bears, maybe even pigs!

The number the counter shows is just based on your system time.
Is it possible, a post worse than this article?
The faq says its real, is that part of the joke??

Sounds like the radio.
If you're using Windows, you obviously don't care if your software is proprietary.
Valve has once again proven why they're my favorite game company.
Or just keep your system horizontal, even though thats not how its advertised thats how it was obviously designed to be used.

Maybe not necessarily blame them, but people sure would be wary of buying one.
Of course, theirs tells you when it was released, seems to takes most people a while to figure that out, myself included.
Actually, that would require even more digits...
